Psalm Chapter 48

30 Days of Prayer – Day 27

Pray that God’s people advocate/experience healing, miracles, signs and wonders, so that His kingdom may be manifested and the immense needs of humanity be met. “my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power” (I Corinthians 2:4).

Psalm 48

1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.

They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.

Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.

We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.

11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.

14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

  1. HOLY PRAISE

1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.
2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

This verse has been special to me for almost 25 years. The late Rev. E R Givens was the first Evangelist I ever heard preach and in the first revival I attended, he preached, “Beautiful for Situation” and basically said, regardless of your situation or circumstance in life, it is beautiful for situation for the LORD is Great and greatly to be PRAISED.

The JOY of the whole earth is the church! What hope does a lost, deceived and dying world have if the church has lost its joy?

Choose today and every day remaining to proclaim the goodness of GOD.

8 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.
9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.
11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.
12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  2. The position of the church situates God’s people to shine as a beacon to this world. When they pass by they know this is a place of refuge.

When a mistake was made that resulted in the murder of an innocent life they needed only to run to a city of refuge.

    Numbers 35:25
And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled:and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.

    Webster defines refuge as

    Main Entry: 1ref·uge
    Pronunciation: \ˈre-(ˌ)fyüj also -(ˌ)fyüzh\
    Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Latin refugium, from refugere to escape, from re- + fugere to flee — more at fugitive
    Date: 14th century
1 : shelter or protection from danger or distress 2 : a place that provides shelter or protection 3 : something to which one has recourse in difficulty

We are the help, protection, and safe haven this world needs!

  3. As I am reading this I am listening to the song “Holy, Holy Holy, Holy Lord. THe whole earth is full of your glory.” It is very fitting for this chapter. I see Fort Worth as this city, the city that when people come to they feel something different. THe feel the presents of God. When we go out on outreach we are the east wind, breaking the strongholds of this city, and showing the enemy that no matter the weather,or situations in our lives, we will keep doing outreach and breaking the chains. In outreach yesterday I had the opprotunity to help a child put a chail on his bike, in one of the “worst ” areas in Fort Worth. If God before us , Who can be against us? He did not give me the spirit of fear, but of power ,love, and a sound mind. I love the opprotunity that I got. We must show this city what God’s Love truly is. I pray that in the coming days, weeks, and months that I have the opprotunity to get to show God’s love to those that don’t know.

  4. v9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O GOD, in the midst of thy temple.

Our service to our GREAT GOD should be at the very core and center of our lives.
Praise and worship by bringing a sacrifice of praise unto our GREAT GOD!!

    iPray
iPraise and WORSHIP HIM FOR WHO HE IS

  6. I piay to my Jesus, and yours.
Its really hard to understand another language.
But in the Holy Ghost i can.
Chinese language was even easy when i studied it for 6 mos.
I made a 95 on my exam thank you Jesus!
    But lt’s hard.
    I miss Jesus (pofw).
I guess why am i saying these things?
God can still speak to me even through other languages.
The best language ever is “speaking in tongues.
I wouldn’t know what to do without it. Thank you Jesus with the gift of the Holy Ghost.
    God has everything in control.

  7. Verses 9-10 MSG read:

    “We pondered your love-in-action, God,
    waiting in your temple:
Your name, God, evokes a train
    of Hallelujahs wherever
    It is spoken, near and far;
your arms are heaped with goodness-in-action.”

We should share the goodness of Jesus near and far. Everybody aboard…….

  8. 4 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

The God of all creation in heaven and earth should be exalted and praised. Let everything that has been given breath, praise ye the Lord. Live a life of praise. Praise defeats the enemy.

  9. This chapter illustrates greatness. All praise and honor is to be unto the Lord; “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised”. One would be wise to profess that God (Jesus) is great and praise him continually, for one’s true safety is from the Lord; “If God be for us, who can be against us”. May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  10. 10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.

We have a mighty God, and his name is Jesus.

Forgive me for a short blog

  11. Great is the Lord , and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness. For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death. (Psalms 48:1, 10, 14 KJV)

  12. In this scripture, in the very first verse tells it all. And greatly to be praised in deed, and my praise I will give.

    “Now”……

  13. In this scripture, in the very first verse said it all. And my praise I will give, and in verse 10, in his right hand is full of righteousness. You see God never runs out of righteousness. You see he’s not the God of just enough nor is he the God of barely enough. But he is the God of more than enough. Praise God!

    “Now”………………..

  14. 1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

Our God is great and greatly to be praised. The Lord has blessed PoFW! We had a great outreach yesterday. Saturday night prayer was explosive. In G-Force there was a great move of God. Children were speaking in tongues. Lives were changed! God is GREAT!!!

  15. 13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.

This next generation has to hear the gospel. It is our responsibility to pass on his word, doctrine, holiness, and righteousness. We have to catch the burden of what we are all called to do. Lets not wait till we get people in church. Let us step out in faith and bring this gospel to them. Jesus said to ( go) into all the world preaching the gospel. It is our responsiity to not loose this generation. Lets go to work POFW

  16. PRAISE HIM THROUGH THE CIRCUMSTANCES!!!! It is how we react through our circumstances that determines and show our faith. So Praise Him no matter what happens, Praise Him through the good and the bad. Praise Him at ALL TIMES.

  17. 14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

He told the disciples that He, Jesus the man, was leaving but then the comforter was gonna come, the Sipirit of God. When the Spirit of God comes, He will lead us into all truth. He promised to be with us till the end of the earth. Each and everyday He is there. He is our God and will always be our God.

  18. The City of God

The sons of Korah compose thise ode to the city of Jerusalem, their national and religious capital, applauding its beauty and security. This tribute actually echoes Isaiah’s prophecy in Isaiah 2:The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 5O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD. The city of God, the new Jerusalem is where all followers of Jesus Christ will one day live forever. This city will be filled with the presence of the King; His love will be its overwhelming reality. In that that forever home, believers will be completely safe and secure- their eternal perch will be lofty, high above all danger, and their fortress will be impenetrable to any outside threat. In fact their will be no need to close the gates of the new Jerusalem because Jesus would have weeded out all wickedness. Beauty, joy and love will surrond them for the rest of time.

  19. NOW Faith: Knowing God

3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

Is God *known* in our lives? Is He *known* as our Refuge? Our Hope? Our Prince of peace? Our Healer?

We talk about who we tell others God is (“we are the only Bible some will ever read”) but who do we tell ourselves He is? We are the temple of the Holy Ghost, what sermons do we preach within our own self?

    Psalms 51:5-7
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. 6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Purging our lives of sinful ways goes beyond purifying our actions; it requires the process of holiness to be likewise manifest in our “inward parts.” There are many lies and deceptions that humanity feasts on that get so ingrained in us that in some cases we can go our whole lives without a clue we are deceived unless we essentially have a dramatic, life-shaking Damascus road encounter with Truth like Paul. Commons lies: “well so-and-so hurt me, therefor *all* men/women are untrustworthy and evil like that”; “the only way I can counteract my insecurity is to take control of the situation and manipulate it in my favor, no matter the cost to myself or others”; “the only way I can have worth is by measuring up to certain standards, but because so-and-so already rejected me that means I can never measure up no matter how hard I try.”

These are examples of lies that seem “harmless” because they’re so common and can crop up subtly, yet they can eat away the integrity of our walk with God and completely undermine any conflicting truth we hear, unless we deal with the lies.

Too many are content to reserve a spot for the devil in the pulpit of their hearts. They invite the father of lies to hold conferences, revivals, prayer meetings, and doctrine-debates and studies within their temple. They applaud him when he preaches hate and unforgiveness, they “amen” when he teaches them how ugly and worthless they are, but they really go wild when he gets on to how God doesn’t love them. Oh it brings the house down, they go “swinging from the chandeliers” when he goes on that not only does God not love them but He hates them and has given up on them.

Sounds comical, doesn’t it? Yet it is exactly what so many, Christians included, do.

    John 8:31-32
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

    John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

    1 Corinthians 1:18-21
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

    Romans 12:1-2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

    Romans 1:16-17
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

    Hebrews 4:2
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

The question we must ask ourselves is where is our faith? Is it in God? Or has it been hijacked by fear so that our “faith” is in lies? Only God can purify us from every lie, but it only comes by our choice and we have much to do with the facilitating of that process. Like Romans 12 says, we must be daily renewed, but like Hebrews 4 suggests, we must also have our minds made up to engage our faith in receiving truth when it comes and calls for a sudden change in us.

    Exodus 3:14
And God said unto Moses, I Am that I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.

    John 18:4-7
4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? 5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. 6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. 7 Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

Will we let God be God in us? Will we know Him? Will we let Him establish truth in us?

14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

  20. 14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

My God is God. The creator of heaven and earth. The savior of my soul, and yet He loved me when I was unlovable…..

  21. 1 Great is the Lord , and greatly to be praised in the city of our God , in the mountain of his holiness . 2 Beautiful for situation , the joy of all the whole earth , is mount Zion , on the sides of the north , the city of the great King .

  22. 7-8 You smashed the ships of Tarshish
with a storm out of the East.
We heard about it, then we saw it
    with our eyes—
In God’s city of Angel Armies,
    in the city our God
    Set on firm foundations,
    firm forever.

9-10 We pondered your love-in-action, God,
    waiting in your temple:
Your name, God, evokes a train
    of Hallelujahs wherever
    It is spoken, near and far;
your arms are heaped with goodness-in-action.

What a mighty God we serve!!!
