Psalm 78

1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.

We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

10 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.

12 Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

13 He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.

14 In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.

15 He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.

16 He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

17 And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.

18 And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.

19 Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?

20 Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?

21 Therefore the Lord heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;

22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:

23 Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,

24 And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.

25 Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.

26 He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.

27 He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:

28 And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.

29 So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;

30 They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths,

31 The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.

32 For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.

33 Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.

34 When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God.

35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.

36 Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.

37 For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.

38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

39 For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

40 How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!

41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

43 How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan.

44 And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.

45 He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.

46 He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto the locust.

47 He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.

48 He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.

49 He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.

50 He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;

51 And smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:

52 But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.

53 And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

54 And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.

55 He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

56 Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:

57 But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.

58 For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

59 When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:

60 So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;

61 And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy’s hand.

62 He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.

63 The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.

64 Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.

65 Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.

66 And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.

67 Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:

68 But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.

69 And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.

70 He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:

71 From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.

72 So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.

  1. 72 So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.

    HALELUJAH !!! MERCY MERCY MERCY!!!
THANK YOU JESUS!!! THANK YOU FOR BEING FAITHFUL!!!

    • What would happen if HE fed us according to the integrity of our heart???
      JESUS!!! I love You JESUS.
PADRE PORFAVOR ESCUDRIÑA MI CORAZON ……. Quiero agradarte solamente a TI.

  2. Nevertheless they flattered Him with their mouths and lied to Him with their tongues. For their hearts were not right or sincere with Him, neither were they faithful and steadfast to His covenant. But He, full of [merciful] compassion, forgave their iniquity and destroyed them not; yes, many a time He turned His anger away and did not stir up all His wrath and indignation. For He [earnestly] remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that goes and does not return. (Psalm 78:36-39 AMP)
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. (Matthew 15:8 KJV)

  3. We must teach the next generation the ways of the Lord and what it takes to be saved. Deut 6:6-7 “And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”

  4. STOP COMPLAINING AND START PRAISING IN THANKSGIVING!!!!!

20 Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?

    21 Therefore the Lord heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;

God gave us ALL our needs and men still complains because they don’t get all they want. How pitiful can man be? It is all in the attitude if you are grateful over a couple of cents then He will trust you with the millions but if you are ungrateful, greedy, selfish, etc. His wrath will come down upon you.

72 So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

It is time to check ourselves, our hearts, what comes out of it? Why? Because is what God will look at in our moment of need, How is our heart? Does it seek Him at all times? Are we willing to let His Skillful Hands guide us? Make a choice!!!! ***Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

Matthew 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

  5. 6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

The only way our future generations can set their hope in God is if we teach them. It’s important that our children hear us praising God and witness our worship to him daily. We are their first and most important teacher. Bless our children, Lord.

    • ILove to eat the book

We have a tremendous respondsiability to raise up the next generation that goes beyond our selfish self. Lord help us to be obedient to the following Scriptures.

4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

  6. I started to blog 2 days ago about their chairs. The children of Isreal did not sit in the first chair. These people should have bee. In the third chair and after, but they kept sending first chair experiences for them. –feeding, watering, leading them from Egypt. Even through this these people still provoked them. He sent the pleagues and put their enemies into to sea.

  7. 41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

I don’t want to limit God by not remembering what He has done in the past! What He has done, He will do again.

    Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

  8. 67 Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:

68 But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.

God chose praise over giving up, complaining, murmuring, worry, and cowardice.

When we praise these negative things go away, and the presence of God manifests. Enemies are scattered and we have the victory.

Negative speaking is like praising the devil. He shows up and things get worse.

Positive, uplifting, faith building speaking praises God and he shows up and things get better.

    Who are you praising?

  9. 4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

This is part of the issue with the first chair that brother Raymond Woodward taught on. We cannot just tell our children about the wonders of God we have to somehow translate a first hand experience. When we brag on God it makes people want to experience the same as what we have told them but when we get them in position to experience God first hand they become different people and change chairs. Now they are in position to do the same for someone else. We have to keep the experience of God flowing through our generation not just stories. I pray that the Holy Ghost falls on our families, co-workers, friends, clients, and strangers. As many as The Lord our God shall call.

  10. 38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

Praise God for His compassion. Without it we wouldn’t be here! We have all sinned or missed up and praise be to God we all made our way to the cross where His compassion forgave us, so we can start a new life one and never turning back!

  11. v68 But chose the tribe of Judah, and the mount Zion which he loved.

GOD inhabits our Praise and loves our affection towards HIM.
GOD cannot tolerate sin and will not share HIS GLORY with another. HE is a jealous GOD and desires our faithfulness and companionship ” forsaking all others”

I’m so thankful to be part of HIS CHURCH
HIS Bride even though we have never seen HIM nor have never been where HE dwells,
We still BELIEVE that HE waits for HIS BRIDE ( The Church ) and one sweet day will welcome us to HIS home.

The LORD still searches for those who will return HIS LOVE.
We shall see HIM as HE is . 1 John3:2

And HE will honor HIS bride when HE comes back.

Rev.19:7-8. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints.

    iPraise
    iPray
    iAdore HIM
    iRejoice
    iRadiate with HIS SPIRIT
iGive Thanks and a High level of praise!!!

  12. the message we heard about the chairs kept running through my mind while I read this also. I pray that I have taught my children right and that I also will teach my grandchildren also that they never forget who Jesus is.

  13. WHAT A MIGHTY GOD HE IS!
God is always God He never changes.
I’m glad that this scripture reminded me of what God did For Isreal and then to His children of disobedience.
It makes you want to stop what you are doing and REPENT and ask God to forgive you then not to do your sin Anymore.
I pray to God to deliver me everyday.
    You are still MIGHTY JESUS.
    I LOVE MY GOD !

  14. This chapter illustrates consequences. There are consequences for ones actions as such one must be mindful for ones decisions may affect more than oneself. One must never forget that God holds the power to destroy as well as forgive; “But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath”. What a mighty God we serve! May the good Lord Bless you all in Jesus name, Amen

  15. HAVE FAITH, DONT BE A COWARD

9 The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
    10 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.
12 Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

This chapter is so FULL of teaching, I must refrain myself. However I must speak to someones heart today about COURAGE. GOD has done so much for all of us. Wonders that we dont even realize. Ways he has paved and paths he has cleared through our ELDERS.

I am so thankful for our ELDERS, all the faithful Ministers and Saints of the most HIGH GOD, that have seen the miracles of old and declared the goodness of GOD, may we never forget.

To me this is one of the greatest tradgedies of our day, “to be armed, carrying bows and possessing the Spirit, Power and Favor of GOD and turn back; quit, give up, sit down and be a COWARD instead of STANDING STRONG and FIGHTING ON and facing the adversary with the VICTORY that GOD has already given.

The LORD said to the church as we know it. GO, TEACH and BAPTIZE. To BE a WORLD CHANGER we must not go back on our covenant with GOD.

FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH!

Without FAITH it is impossible to please GOD. Remember the MIRACLES of old, remember how HE brought you out of sin. Remember how HE made a way. HE IS the SAME yesterday, today and forever!

Have COURAGE, arm yourself, NOW, the kingdom of GOD suffereth violence and the violent take it by FORCE. The FORCE is WITH YOU. FORCE = JESUS!

    How?

68 But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.
69 And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.
70 He chose David also his servant,

    PRAISE and SERVE!

HE chose PRAISE and established Leaders from those that SERVE.

    SERVING NOW!

Thank you JESUS for these affirming, confirming words NOW!

Let’s GO, WE WIN, take the armour of GOD for protection and the shield of FAITH for prevention and the SWORD of the SPIRIT (the WORD of GOD) seize the adversaries of our day. NOW

    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  16. GREAT COMMENTS today!

    Keep them flowing!

    WORLD CHANGERS in progress.

We must GET IT (the WORD of GOD) in us so we can SHARE IT (the WORD of GOD) with others.

    GO share!

We had opportunity to share with our banker on Monday from Psalm 77! Fort Worth Region is hungry.

    Let’s GO!

  17. But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock. And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies. He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds: From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance. (Psalms 78:52, 53, 70, 71 KJV)

My prayer is that our passion and desire of becoming like the Good Shepherd consumes us.

4 symptoms of The Good Shepherd

    1. Love and compassion.

And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things. (Mark 6:34 KJV)

    2. Relationship and Servant spirit

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. (John 10:14, 15 KJV)

    3. Proclaim Judgement – pray for the flock

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:19 AMP)

    4. Victorious & overcomer -harvest

And I have other sheep [beside these] that are not of this fold. I must bring and impel those also; and they will listen to My voice and heed My call, and so there will be [they will become] one flock under one Shepherd. (John 10:16 AMP)

We have a responsibility to tend the flock with gladness.

Tend (nurture, guard, guide, and fold) the flock of God that is [your responsibility], not by coercion or constraint, but willingly; not dishonorably motivated by the advantages and profits [belonging to the office], but eagerly and cheerfully; Not domineering [as arrogant, dictatorial, and overbearing persons] over those in your charge, but being examples (patterns and models of Christian living) to the flock (the congregation). And [then] when the Chief Shepherd is revealed, you will win the conqueror’s crown of glory. (1 Peter 5:2-4 AMP)

  18. Verse 4 NASB “We will not conceal them from their children, But tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.” Our responsibility to the next generation is not only to tell them what the Lord has done for our parents, us, or our family but to show them. If we are busy shouting praises; then complaints, bad times or problems fade away and our children can see that our trust is in the Lord.

Verse 7 NASB “That they should put their confidence in God And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments,”

  19. 38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

39 For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

Thank God for his mercy and compassion on us, even after time and time again we go against his Word.

  20. 35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.

    Noone Knows Like I Know!!!

As I look back I see many times that God could have very easily take me out. I see times that I should not have lived. Times that I should have gone to prision. Times that I should have been mamed at the very least. As I see all these STUPID things that I did, I have to smile ( and sometimes even laugh), because I see how the devil gave it his best, and missed. God’s mercy and compassion surpassed everything I had done and came running welcoming me (that young prodical) home.

Having grown up in false doctorine, I know about all the hypocracy and the unending meaningless flatteries that get offered to God. I thank God for the oppertunity to serve under a pastor who teaches truth, and is not scared to correct the flock that God has intrusted him with. I thank God that He has seen my past and my present and still loved me enough to lay down His life that He might get a chance to spend eternity with me. He saw past all my hurt, my pains, my scars, my sin, and loved me…

  21. 72 So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.

    Integrity & Skillz

Many times our integrity will become challanged by those around us. And many times, we don’t know exactly where it stands until we look through the word and find out how truely little integrity many of us really have.

Have you ever taken a pen or pencil from work, a waitress, or even a hospital staff member who is having you fill out a thousand papers and you really have no clue what you are signing your name to other than to a bunch of bills that you have no clue how you are going to pay? Have you ever taken a paper clip from your work? Borrowed a dollar and not paid it back? broken a promise? These are all very small trivial things that most people never think about, but the count. Not many of us has ever stolen a car, or a million dollars. Not many have ever taken the time to compare these instances together, but God did. In His word it says don’t steal. It says don’t lie. When we take what we do not pay for and what is not freely given to us that is STEALING. When we fib, or forget what we say, and don’t follow through with what we say that is telling a LIE.

We must be diligent to make sure that we keep our word and stand with the upmost of integrity, because others are watching and waiting for us to slip.

We have to pratice and learn these things. That takes skills. It takes Skill to be able to study the word and prepare a sermon. It takes skills to know how to listen to the voice of God and know what He is saying to do. It takes skills to know how to watch and flow with God, and not to quinch His spirit. While we are to be led by the Spirit, we must hone our skills so that we are better able to be used by God to reach the lost and hurting around us….

  22. 8 Heaven forbid they should be like their parents, bullheaded and bad, A fickle and faithless bunch who never stayed true to God MSG

We have all heard it preached or taught that just cause our parents are not serving God cause of whatever then we can’t do it either. That is stinky thinking. We don’t have to live in the past its time to live in the future. Postive thinking is what we need. I believe this chapter is talking about us a parents raising our children in the way they should go. If we don’t teach our children the truth someone else will teach them.

36 Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. KJV
Be careful what you say about God’s people you will be accountable for every word that comes out of your mouth, are you building someone up or tearing someone down with your tongue? I have always been told don’t have something nice to say don’t say nothing at all!!
Don’t make promises to God and not keep them.

  23. This chapter is talking about Gods wonderful mercy on the people…even though they went against him and questioned him, He still was loving and helped them and kept them safe.

53 And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

  24. Lord thank you for being so faithful and extending your goodness to your people. Lets us boldly proclaim and teach our Children the truth so that they can learn from your word rather than their own wilderness experience.

  25. 65 Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.
66 And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.
67 Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:
68 But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.

Vs. 65 Wow. As I was reading this part of the chapter. I found it quite intresting that ,”… the Lord awaked as one out of sleep,…” Now, I know when someone is sleeping that you do not want to wake them up, due to that more than not , they are quite upset when they are awaked from their sleep. Now we know that God is not asleep, but I thought it very well spoken how David proposed the thought.

Vs. 66 It states that,” And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.” Perpetual means, 1. lasting or enduring forever or for an indefinitely long time; and Reproach n. 1. a source or cause of shame, disgrace, discredit, or blame. One phrase can sum up this thought and that is. GOD WAS EXTREAMLY ANGRY! As parent would, He loves those and chasens those whom He loves, and when the time comes protects them to the fullest extent. God will protect you in the time of need.

Vs. 67-68 67 Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim: 68 But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.
Ephraim was the second son of Joseph a mix from the church,” Isreal” and the world,” Egyptian” which ment he was not of “true blood.” I believe God wanted a pure blood line for the life of Jesus. Now is states in vs. 9, “9 The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle. 10 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law; 11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them. 12 Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.”
The children of Ephraim were not pure blood Jews, and it was for this reason why they did not understand the true reason for the battles that they were fighting, because they were of Egyptian descent. Why does this make a difference? Because they did not fully realize the promises given to the children of Isreal. It’s the 3 Chair mentality. The First chair represents Joshua, the second The Elders, and the third The Other Generation. The first in this thought is the promise to Jacob that His seed would be greater than all the sand in the world. He then passed this down to His twelve sons. This is the end of the first generation “the first chair”. The ” Second Chair,” is the twelve son’s children whom Ephriam was from Joseph. Ephraim heard the stories from his father , his uncles , and his grandfather of the stories that one day would be fulfilled. Ephraim started to lose sight of his promise, even though Jacob had given him the birthright that was to be his brothers. Now in the “Third Chair,” they forget the stories/promises that God told Jacob. And it was for this reason why they lost the will to fight for Isreal. When we allow the things of the world/Egypt to come ito our lives, we tend to lose sight of the promises that God has given us.

Even though we were born into this world we are not apart of it. We must live a separated life from it. Live in it, not of it or for it. This world that we know of will pass awaywhen Jesus returns. Lets live for God and His will for our lives.

  26. WHAT SHALL WE PASS ON
Asaph pinpoints what generation needs to pass on to the next the praise worthy deeds of the Lord. Lets not hesitate to share what God has donein our lives with our chilldren. They will see and come to know him through what we impart.

  27. What an awesome God we have, he forgives us no matter how disobedient
we are. He knows we don’t know what we are doing when we take matters into our own hands and start pleasing the flesh instead of following his commands and trusting him.

The truth is there is only one God and no other. Lord I thank you for allowing me to serve you NOW that I know what I didn’t know then. Thank you for leading me to POFW. Help me reach souls that don’t know of you. Lead the way Lord guide me. Thank you Lord for my family and church family.

  28. 1-4 Listen, dear friends, to God’s truth, bend your ears to what I tell you. I’m chewing on the morsel of a proverb; I’ll let you in on the sweet old truths, Stories we heard from our fathers, counsel we learned at our mother’s knee. We’re not keeping this to ourselves, we’re passing it along to the next generation— GOD’s fame and fortune, the marvelous things he has done. (MSG)

  29. Vs. 37, “For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his convenant.”

Vs. 41, “Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.”

I believe Pastor preached a message on “NO LIMITS.”

We do serve a God with “NO LIMITS” for Eph. 3:20 says, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” and Matt.19:26 says, “… but with God all things are possible.”

Yet we do limit God when our heart is not right (Sin), and we break his commandments, and we have doubt in our lives.

1 John 3:21-22, “Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.”

So, in order for God to have “NO LIMITS” in our lives, we need to get our hearts right with him, keep his commandments, and have Faith. And Watch what God will do !

  30. Wow…we all need to keep this scripture to mind. This scripture will remind you to never anger God. Thank God, for mercy and grace, but grace isn’t a license to sin. So, lets not tempt our Father, for he will whoop us good. So, God can use evil to teach you a lesson. “Persue Peace”

    “Now”……………………………………

  31. 1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

Thank God for the POFW Blog

  32. A word of caution to us in this chapter to not become like the forefathers, who only served God when it was convenient, but would turn away after a period of time and do their own thing. Then God would have to send a test or trial their way to bring them back into line, and it would work for a season, but then they would turn away and go whoring after their own fleshly desires until something else would happen to bring them back.

We must become consistent in our walk with God so that we have a legacy to pass on to our children, and grandchildren. Something they can see by example and desire to live the same way because they will have seen with their own eyes God bringing us through.

  33. 40 How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!

41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

There is so much in this chapter, one thing I will mention is how this talks to me about gratitude. Sometimes we forget where God has bright us from. We forget our Egypt and the bondage of slavery that we lived in. We forget how many times the Lord had the option to destroy us for our ugly sins but He had compassion on us. Sometimes people do not remember all the great blessings, wether big or small, that God gives. We get the miracle, the healing, the deliverance, salvation, the debt paid off, the leprosy is gone but we continue and move on as if it never happened and forget to turn around and give God the glory and worship His name giving thanks for all that He does for us, but instead like the people in the wilderness we “demand” of God this or that not putting our trust and eyes fully on Him and we limit God, and provoke Him to anger. There are so many “second chances” He has given us that is more than enough reason to be happy and joyful giving God the glory and thanking Him for every single little thing. Lord You are worthy of my praise!!!

  34. Identity Change

5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

Israel (the person) began as Jacob, the supplanter. V5 describes how we see what God did *for* him (testimony) with Jacob, but saw what God did *in* him (law) with Israel. Israel is described as the identity used for the man and nation to denote spiritual uprightness and promise, while Jacob is the identity proclaiming crookedness and carnality.

40 How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!

41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

We limit the Holy One of Israel when we try to make Him simply the Holy One of Jacob. In that we say “God, I give You permission to serve me, but don’t You dare try to change me; work for me, but don’t work in me.” When we refuse to let God work in us, we find we eventually even lose sight of what He *has* done for us.

The testimony becomes contingent upon the law; the presence upon the boundaries. Every relationship needs boundaries, it simply will not survive on emotion alone as emotion without boundaries will eventually turn and consume and destroy what it used to feed. The principle holds for our walk with God: more than God working something for us, we must have God working in us. That is when the identity change happens and we are changed to be more and more confirmed to the image of Christ. But why?

6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

We will be a witness, either of what to do or what not to do. Sadly, a negative witness is often confused by the world to be a positive role model and they miss the learning opportunity. God wants to work for us and in us so His light shines as a positive witness through us.

    Matthew 9:2-7
2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. 3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. 4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? 5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? 6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. 7 And he arose, and departed to his house.

In our humanity we usually judge the outer greater than the inner, but which truly is greater? What God does for us or what God does in us?

    Matthew 18:8
Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

I would rather die with physical infirmity and go to heaven than die in perfect physical health and go to hell, all because I wouldn’t let God work in me to get the sin out. That aside, thank God He is able to do both! He has a testimony already prepared for us and it is designed to touch both the inner and outer parts of our lives. The question is, will we limit the Holy One of Israel, or let Him be God in us to the uttermost?

  35. Psalms 78:6
    True Riches
That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born ; who should arise
and declare them to their children .

I have little money or possesions for my Son to
inherit, but I did my job well, he will be blessed with faith and empowered to pass that faith on to my granddaugters. What more could I possibly desire for them?

  36. If peple don’t learn from their mistakes, the negative aspects of human history are destined to repeat themselves. That’s why God ordains that His statutes and principles, along with the stories of His remarkable deeds, be passed from generation to generation. God urges His people to tell others about Him during the everyday events of life: “Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along road, when you lie down and when you get up.” (Dt 6:7). Evangelism occurs when a believer passes on his or her knowledge and experience to another person: parent to child, friend to friend, elderly to the youthful. In the context of such relationships, the kingdom of God is perpetuated and disciples are made. We all have opportunities to tell others about God’s praiseworthy deeds, power and wonders. Whenever we are- at work, at a neighbor’s house, at a family reunion -we can spread that word so that one more person can choose loyalty to the King of Kings rather than rebellion (Ps 78:7-8).

  37. 10 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

What a sad day that is for those that refuse God’s law. God’s law is what is going to help live a holy life.

  38. 41 Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

I would never want to limit God… If you want to see your promise you must let go of the control you ‘think’ you need and allow Him to work

  39. 1 Give ear, O my people, to my law : incline your ears to the words of my mouth. 2 I will open my mouth in a parable : I will utter dark sayings of old : 3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. 4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

  40. 5 How long, Lord ? wilt thou be angry for ever ? shall thy jealousy burn like fire ? 6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities : let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us : for we are brought very low. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name : and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.
