Acts 9
1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.
8 And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
9 And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.
10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.
11 And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,
12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.
13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.
15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.
17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
19 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.
20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?
22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.
23 And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:
24 But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.
25 Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.
26 And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.
27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
28 And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.
29 And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.
30 Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.
31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.
32 And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.
33 And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.
34 And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.
36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.
38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.
39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.
40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.
42 And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.
43 And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.

Coversion of Saul
It is probably fair to say that this passage contains an account of the most famous conversion in human history. Conversion is a word the Christian churches use freely. What exactly does it mean? The English word comes from Latin ‘convertere/conversio’ meaning “to turn around”. This is an important starting point. Every conversion involves a turning from sin and self and turning toward God. Although every conversion has a turning process at its core, no two conversion stories are the same. They are as different as the people, their backgrounds, their past sins and their new relationship with God. Paul’s conversion story is just that -Paul’s- just as our conversion stories are uniquely our own. In our walk with Jesus, we will change and grow. Under extreme pressure and darkness diamonds are made, and even gold is melted down before it could be molded. The potter spins the wheel, conversion and its process is necessary for salvation.
And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

As men and women we tend to look a people and judge by them by their sins and we decide well that person can’t be saved , but God looks and see’s what is in a mans heart and knows what they can become.
38. And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.
iPray that people see enough Jesus in us that when they have need of Him, they know we can help them reach Him.

God has a way to get your attention, even if you are persecuting the church. This proves that God can forgive anyone of their sin, you cannot be so bad God will not forgive you. I have heard people say I have did to many bad things, God want forgive me. Yet here is a man that is guilty of murder and persecuting the church, even after his conversion, the disciples were afraid of him.
God called him a chosen vessel and told Ananias to lay hands on him and pray for him that the scales would fall from his eyes. Maybe we need to see some scales fall from some eyes, where people could see who they really are and who God is!
Saul on his way to persecute more of the church God let him see a bright light. When that bright light shined in him it helped him see who Jesus is.
In conversation with God Saul said who art thou Lord? The Lord answered I am Jesus!
13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
The enemy ,now is called friend.
What would you do if your greatest enemy would walk through the doors of the church and sat in service. Would you at meet and greet, go and greet them, or would you stay as far away from them? If God told you to go to them ,would you? Maybe it’s you that God wants to use to get them to church. Ask and find out. You never know what the answer might be.
“For he is a chosen vessel unto me”. Although there was great concern and doubt, the Lord (Jesus) had chosen. One must first recognize the difference between choice and chosen; “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you”. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless Jerusalem and you all, in Jesus name, Amen
9 1-2
In the first century ethnic communities in the Roman Empire were governed by their own national laws. Thus the Jewish community in Damascus under the authority of the ruling council in Jerusalem. Sauls lettres of authority from Jetusalrm granted him power of arrest in the Syrian city.

The LIGHT that gloriously blinded Saul is also the glorious LIGHT that led Saul and the same glorious LIGHT that reveals to us today the mercies and glory of GOD. Often the brightness of revelation of JESUS is blinding to those that live in deep darkness.
With this challenge comes opportunity for the Church to lead them and to assist them in walking in the LIGHT of the GLORY and GRACE of GOD.

31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.
Multiplication happened alongside the fear of the Lord and the comfort of His Spirit. These two elements seem to speak of a reciprocal relationship with the Lord, where the church engaged on both the level of ministering to God and leaning on Him to minister to them. Jesus has a way of revealing His infinite-ness by showing us not simply the completion of a single cycle come full circle but a continual reciprocation and process of completion. In our humanity, we seem to have a weakness of getting one-sided (all give or all take) and sometimes struggle to grasp the balance that God is trying to present to us. We do well to seek the Lord in both serving and allowing Him to minister to us, and should purpose ourselves to let Him lead in how we are to do both and lean not to our own understanding so we can have the atmosphere for harvest and revival as described in this chapter.
John 13:4-8
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
The Pain Of Rebellion
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
“It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks”, this is a known Greek proverb; the prick was a tool with a sharp metal end that was used to prick an ox or animal to make them change direction. When the animal would rebel and kick the animal’s action will make the prick pierce deeper in, therefore causing a cut or more pain. This leads me to believe that this was not the first calling Jesus had done to Saul. It is my opinion that he has heard plenty about Jesus and his heart had been pricked by his word before. When Jesus used the Greek proverb, He is implying; you heard me, you understood me; however you insist in rebelling. Many to this very day, hear Him, feel Him, get pricked in their heart; but still Rebel against Him. When they finally surrender by calling Him Lord, then will their scales fall out of their eyes, and if you pay close attention you will see this glow of joy upon their faces that can not be compared to anything in this world. So, do not give up, keep spreading His word among everyone, and see the vision of their SALVATION happening today.

Rom_8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Saul of Tarsus, better known as Paul the Apostle was a living example that even he a persecutor of the Christians could be transformed, and made into a vessel for the Lord’s purpose. We all have a purpose for the Kingdom. Let us pray for one another that we are available to each other in the faith for the purpose of spiritual support and comfort. Let us all pray for the strength and wisdom to take on our purpose for him who saved us by his blood.

4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
The Lord knew how to get Saul’s attention, just like God knew how to get my attention. Each person is different and the results are all different. Scales fell off the eyes of Saul and these scales can be referred in scripture as pride. Job 41:15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
One important lesson we can all learn is if we can not see the glorious light of the Word, then pride has blinded our eyes.
From judgement to mercy and from mercy to grace.
This chapter illustrates the divine encounter Saul had with Christ. Time before Saul witnessed and confined the stoning of Stephen. Now we see that Saul experiences Christ in a way that changes his vision. His lost of site is symbolic in that he lost his vision of blasphemy and the scales were removed so that he could see truth. Thus, he left a seat of judgement on Christianity and was now walking in mercy for the religious leaders that he was once a part of. We must not forget that the very people we fear and may “hate” could be the next pastor or minister or missionary for Gods kingdom. No one is excluded from Gods grace. We cannot look at people and judge them. We can’t judge our brothers and sisters by what they wear or how they look. Jesus would be thrown out of most of our churches today. Don’t let carnal eyes be your guide but rather try to see what God sees. Jesus gave his life for the random of many. Do not belittle his sacrifice with attitudes of judgement. Walk I’m grace and mercy and be a conduit of love for this dying world. There is enough hate and evil in this world, the redeemed of Christ need not add to it.

Another illustration of Jesus being the light! This light transformed Saul’s life. Had it not been for the light and the voice of the Lord speaking to him from the light, he would have never been given the direction to go to Joppa and there a man name will explain the gospel. We, holy ghost filled saints, but allow the same light, Jesus Christ to lead us so that when people come to us hungry, we will have manna prepared to feed them. (The Word of God).

Turning on the Light. A call to lead others to te light. Something interesting that I noticed, Paul recovered his sight and received the Light in him, the Holy Ghost. Makes you wonder how the stage of many individuals is with scales in their eyes walking around in circles in their darkness, the cannot see the Light of truth and hope. It would be wise to pray that God would remove the scales and the Light in us through His Spirit shine for the souls. Notices that after he could “see” revelation of the gospel then he was immediately baptized. We have to first lead ourselves to the light that we can lead others to it like pastor preached this morning. It’s time to turn on the light.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11
— Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived:neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you:but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Who are you to judge him?
Perhaps these words were spoken in the spirit to Ananias this day. He, like all of us, was a sinner bound by the enemy. Then someone expounded the truth to him, and now he is a believer living for God.
Now Paul who carries extreme baggage comes to the man of God hoping he will see past his past, and wrong doings and offer help.
Just like Ananias we have the chance to reach the next Paul. We have been washed in his blood, separated from the world, and declared innocent.
I pray our eyes are open to see the next Paul, and not push him away.
Transformed
6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.
8 And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
Saul took instruction and then went without question. Sauls transformation was predicated by faith. There will be no change or transformation in our lives until we learn to trust in God. He is the one that changes us.
Peter had some crazy faith
Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive. (Acts 9:39-41 KJV)
It doesn’t talk About peter having to yell and scream. It doesn’t talk about him crying his eyes out. I think that Peter prayed first so that he would hear from God. Then after he heard JESUS tell him to raise her his crazy faith kicked in and she took him by the hand. What would happen if we were all so in tune with Jesus that we heard him tell us to tell someone to come back to life and they did! We all have a measure if faith, we just have to be sensitive to JESUS and he will do the crazy part.
Faith of a mustard seed can move a mountain. Can you imagine the mountain that can be moved with great faith?

Sauls immediate reaction to the vision of the Lord was the strong foundation for his ministry. First he believed in God, but when God spoke to Saul to reveal he was Jesus, Saul received that revalation without hesitation. He was a believer instantly. He didn’t debate it & he didn’t have to go home & think about it- he jumped up and obeyed. God chose the right man for the job ahead of him. And today, God has chosen the right people to ‘Impact Ft. Worth’! Evangelism is what the church must do and we must know -like Ananias, that this is Gods will for us and that he will go before us. There are many souls here that God wants to save and he needs us to be bold and speak to them about him. Praise God for the Evangelist Wes Henderson being here exactly on time to teach us. God is doing his part if we do ours.

This verse summarizes a period of almost 10 yrs in the life of the early Jewish churches, during which peace and prosperity prevailed, and about which the Book of Acts is otherwise silent.
Psalm 34:9 O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
Distruction can be deadly, like in this case the Lord has the power to destroy all evil. He turned evil around, to glorify him. The word of God is powerful and can change lives when we apply it to our lives and reach out to others in Jesus name.

27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
The disciples where afraid of him because of his old life but thank God for Barnabad who took him in and vouched for him.
You never know who God wants to use so dont discard people because that person could be rhe very one that will spark a revival that will turn our city upside down.
Saul’s Conversion 10. And there was a certain disciple at Da-mas’-cus, named An-a-ni’-as; and to him said the Lord in a vision, An-a- ni’-as, And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. 11. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Ju’-das for one called Saul, of Tar’-sus: for, behold, he prayeth, 12. And hath seen in a vision a man named An-a-ni’-as coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. 13. Then An-a-ni’-as answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Je-ru’-sa-lem 14. And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on my name. 15. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gen’-tiles, and kings, and the children of Is’-ra-el: 16. For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

ALL IN A MOMENT!!! JUST A LITTLE WHILE AGO HE HAD BEEN MURDERING THE SAINTS!!! NOW AN ENCOUNTER WITH THE ONE AND ONLY LIVING GOD!!! SOON THERE AFTER HE WAS PRAYING WHEN HE HAD NO IDEA WHO GOD WAS, HE COULDVE SAT BACK AND HAD A PITTY PARTY, BUT NOOOO, HE PRAYED AND WHILE IN PRAYER GOD WAS CONFIRMING THE VISION BY SENDING ANANIAS, (ANANIAS COULDVE SAID NO BECAUSE OF ALL THE BAD THINGS THAT HE HAD HEARD OF SAUL!!! BUT HE WAS OBEDIENT). SO SAUL HAD AN ENCOUNTER, TRANSFORMATION, MIRACLE (HIS SIGHT RESTORED) AND HE WAS DISCIPLED TOOOO!!! TALK ABOUT A DIVINE APPOINTMENT!!!! HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS, BECAUSE YOU STILL HAVE DIVINE APPOINTMENTS PREORDAINED FOR YOURS AND THE ONES THAT WILL BE ADDED AS WELL!!! YOU ARE THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER!!! AMEN!!! HALELUJAH!!! In this chapter we see how the Lord got Saul’s attention when he was suddenly dazed by a blinding flash of light and then had a dream. But Saul’s response to that revelation was key. How we respond to the direction that God is trying to lead us to is your choice. I want to be like Saul, wasting no time and get right to work, telling people about Jesus.
See what praise can do at that midnight cry! Those bars can fall and those chains can be broken. God can show up mightily! He can shake the foundations if you have the right beat! See what happens when God’s feet start tappin (earth quake). Doesn’t it say in the word, that the earth is his footstool? And doesn’t it also say, I will sing praise to your name oh most high when my enemies turn back they shall fall and perish in his presence?
