Matthew 15

1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:

31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.

  1. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. (‭Matthew‬ ‭15‬:‭25-28‬ KJV)

When your faith grabs a hold of the master’s hand, then nothing can be impossible!!!

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. (‭Matthew‬ ‭17‬:‭20‬ KJV)

Through your storm, keep the faith!!

  2. In this scripture, it is clear that tradition and religion was not important factor here. Because the issue of the heart was more of a concern to Jesus. God liked to shut down the Pharisee’s or the religious folks. Religion does have its place. You have to have some kind of order. But, don’t count anyone because of how they look, smell, sound like. God always looks to the heart, just like how he choose David. “God, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me”. I pray, in Jesus name, Amen.

  3. Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. -Matthew 15:2

Tradition – 3862 Noun Feminine par-ad’-os-is from (3860) of the body of precepts, esp. ritual, which in the opinion of the later Jews were orally delivered by Moses and orally transmitted in unbroken succession to subsequent generations, which precepts, both illustrating and expanding the written law, as they did were to be obeyed with equal reverence

3860- paradídōmi to deliver verbally commands, rites to deliver by narrating, to report

The dictionary defines as – the handing down of statements, beliefs, legends, customs, information, etc., from generation to generation, especially by word of mouth or by practice:

Traditions are great but should never be put before the word of God. The
Pharisees had so twisted things that their traditions cause men to transgress the word of God.

But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? -Matthew 15:3

Traditions should highlight the truth of the word of God not obscure it.

Obscure – not clear or plain; ambiguous, vague, or uncertain.
    God’s word is very clear.

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. -Colossians 2:8

Traditions are formed from the truth of God’s word and the lifestyles that we live. They are not truth but the result of truth being manifested in our lives by the word.

Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. -2 Thessalonians 2:15

  4. 31. Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

    32. Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

God will heal your body and meet your present needs, but He won’t stop there; He will also prepare you for the journey ahead, so that you don’t “faint in the way”.

  5. 8 ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

11 It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.” (NLT)

Every word of the tongue will either draw you closer to or further from God. Let every word I speak magnify You!

  6. Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

We have to watch what you say. You can be trying to do everything you are supposed to do but dont watch what you say you can lose your whole testimony. The tongue is the two edge sword. One thing said can make or break someone especially if they are just trying to find the Lord . There are people that are watching and listening to you that you don’t even know they are, that how you conduct yourself will make thier decision about comming to the Lord.

  7. Verse 11 AMP “It is not what goes into the mouth of a man that makes him unclean and defiled, but what comes out of the mouth; this makes a man unclean and defiles [him].” Verse 18 “But whatever comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and this is what makes a man unclean and defiles [him].”

Same verses CEV “The food that you put into your mouth doesn’t make you unclean and unfit to worship God. The bad words that come out of your mouth are what make you unclean.” “But the words that come out of your mouth come from your heart. And they are what make you unfit to worship God. ”

These verses remind me of what one Sister said in one of our Women Conferences “God cannot bless bad choices”. Pastor has said it time and time again. What ever is in there will eventually come out…..its what is in your heart. We have to learn to guard it, protect it (meditate on Him and His word) and live it; until it is spewing out as light.

  8. 22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

This is by far one of the greatest acts of kindness in the Word of God! The disciples wanted Jesus to send away this woman that was crying after them. They were still clinging to the tradition of the past (that Jews had no dealings with gentiles).
Jesus speaks to the woman to tell her I am just sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
The need in the heart of this woman was so great she could not be discouraged this easy. Jesus even goes so far as to call her a dog. Was this not enough to discourage her? NO.
The answer of the lady is one that should be preached, told, discussed everywhere. She does get offended or mad and leave, she only becomes more persistent in her pursuit of what she needs. Agreeing with Jesus she said: Truth Lord, the dogs get the crumbs that fall from their masters table.
This lady took advantage of the chance to call Jesus her Master. Jesus was never able to turn away someone who was willing to worship him and offer him high Praise!
The same way today, even a sinner or saint, if we will offer God high praise and worship him. We can see God do great things for us. We must understand how great he is and how small we are.
MASTER GIVE ME THE CRUMBS FROM YOUR TABLE!!!!

  9. Condemned VS Conviction

I was listening to a radio speaker yesterday and he said that we should NOT make the sinner feel bad. That Jesus Christ died for all of us and that He did it out of love. Therefore, we must show LOVE and not condemned them when they come to church, not judge them, and above all DO NOT MAKE THEM UNCOMFORTABLE. Be sweet, loving, and treat them in a way to have them come back. So far I agreed to what he said, but then he said: when you have a visitor it is not the moment to preach against the sins that are obvious in their lives. That if you give them too much of the word they get a belly ache and not return. That we don’t want to offend them. Now, I know we don’t want to be all over their face, but my heart kept screaming HOW CAN WE NOT TELL THEM THE TRUTH, FOR THE TRUTH IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN PRICK THEIR HEARTS INTO REPENTANCE. We can’t go through life sugar coating salvation. If we do, we will have a house full of compromises, and not one convicted heart. This passage reminds me that exactly. We can not adapt GOD to our necessities, rules, or conveniences; it is us that need to adapt to GOD’S rules, knowing that they are a fence keeping us from danger. It is us that through conviction need to turn our lives around and give ourselves to His will on our lives. The Pharisees here are too busy criticizing to see their own mistakes. God says is like a blind leading the blind, not a very smart situation to be at. I give thanks unto the Lord for He has given us a man with a VISION, not blind, not sugar coated, but a strong convicted man of God, full of passion, that is willing to give it all for each and every one of us. Thank you Jesus for such a blessing.

  10. The LOVE of money is the root of all evil

Matthew 15:4-6 (Amplified Bible – AMP)
4 For God commanded, Honor your father and your mother, and, He who curses or reviles or speaks evil of or abuses or treats improperly his father or mother, let him surely come to his end by death.
5 But you say, If anyone tells his father or mother, What you would have gained from me [that is, the money and whatever I have that might be used for helping you] is already dedicated as a gift to God, then he is exempt and no longer under obligation to honor and help his father or his mother.
6 So for the sake of your tradition (the rules handed down by your forefathers), you have set aside the Word of God [depriving it of force and authority and making it of no effect].

Eccl 10:19 says money answereth all things.

However money is still subject to the laws of God. He made the money, he gave the money, he alone makes rich or people, he promotes, and he sits down.

No matter of money will ever change our need for obedience, and submission to his word.

The old saying is that money is a good servant but a good master. If used properly the kingdom of God will greatly benefit.

If we let it control us then it has become our god.

    Luke 16:13 (KJV Strong’s)
13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

How does it control? Through worry, doubt, fear, and stress. We get out from its control when we let God care for these things. We cheerfully give, tithe, and pay offerings no matter what the situation looks like. God will bless when we let him be master and not money.

Luke 6:38 (Wuest – The New Testament: An Expanded Translation)
38 Be constantly giving, and it shall be given you, a generous measure that has been pressed down hard and which has been shaken thoroughly and which is running over shall they give into the pouch of your outer garment, for with the measure by which you are accustomed to measure, it shall be measured to you again.

  11. 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Lord I want to be close to you! Not only my lips worship you but my WHOLE heart to worship you! 🙂

  12. 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Those that think they know the path with their prideful selfs. And their not willing to understand. Can go on. Keep on going where you want. We tryed to help you. But they refuse to listen with their stubrun personalities.
So blind they don’t even know it. On your path you will collapse and fall in the ditch.
And everyone that been deceived following you will also follow you in the ditch.

18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

Everything we do we do it out of our heart rather it’s good or bad. The words we say we say from our heart. We can destroy people with our words. When we worship we should worship with our whole heart! When we speak and spread the truth. We should do with an open heart. Nothing should be causal when we speak. Not even the words I love you.

Speak life. Speak positive. Speak with your heart.

  13. 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

What kind of leader are you? Are you following the man of God in your life? Are you showing others by your action how to follow? Or are we saying do as I say not as I do. As an elder once said. Your words are worth nothing until your actions are put with it. So lead with your actions not with just words.

  14. 18 But what comes out of the mouth gets its start in the heart. 19 It’s from the heart that we vomit up evil arguments, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, lies, and cussing. MSG
We are gonna be judged by every word that comes out of our mouth. I know I have had to repent of alot of things I have said/done. God will forgive us but if we continue to do the same thing and talk the same way, don’t you think God knows we/I are not serious? I want to use my mouth to praise God and uplift someone not tear them down. What are you saying with your mouth today? Are you uplifting someone or are you tearing them down?
James 1:26 – If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.
You can be the most holy and God fearing person there is but if you are not putting a bridle on your tongue then you are just putting on a show. God help us to put a bridle on our tongue and only speak positive towards people.

  15. I thank God that He made the disciples inquisitive. For the most part we can understand the parables without explanation but even today, after years of study, we struggle (at least I do). The disciples took advantage of the moment to ask the Teacher what He meant. How much easier is it to glean understanding when your answers to every thing is right in front of you?! Lucky ducks!

  16. How easily we forget is a quote that I have heard most of my life. Whether my forgetfulness is a school assignment, feeding the dog or completing my chores; remembering things is sometimes hard to do. In my mind, I think that if I witnessed Jesus miracles first-hand, I would not forget. However, here the disciples forgot the recent miracle of where Jesus feed the 5000. In my mind, I do not understand how someone could forget something like that.

    Deuteronomy 4:9 (MSG)
Just make sure you stay alert. Keep close watch over yourselves. Don’t forget anything of what you’ve seen. Don’t let your heart wander off. Stay vigilant as long as you live. Teach what you’ve seen and heard to your children and grandchildren.

    Deuteronomy 9 (MSG)
6-10 Know this and don’t ever forget it: It’s not because of any good that you’ve done that God is giving you this good land to own. Anything but! You’re stubborn as mules. Keep in mind and don’t ever forget how angry you made God, your God, in the wilderness. You’ve kicked and screamed against God from the day you left Egypt until you got to this place, rebels all the way

  17. But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a person. -Matthew 15:18

What you put in will come out! What are you putting in?

  18. 3-7
Possessions might be devoted to God but used by the owner as that person should live. The gift was a legal fiction that gave a person an excuse not to use his possessions to help a parent or other relative in need. The O.T.teachings on vows allowed a person to legally subvert Gods intent when he called for his people to honor parents.

  19. 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

The word says that the heart is deceiving, that from it comes all things evil like is said in verse 19. Why is our hearts so evil? Shouldn’t it be the best part of us. Well no. Because we are born into sin. If we are born into sin and everything we do flows from the heart then that is where the sin is hidden. Just like we don’t have to teach children to lie and steal but we do have to teach them to love. It is by nature that man strays away from God but only by grace that we are able to return to him. God wash my heart. Clean me out every day. I want goodness, righteousness, holiness and love to flow from my heart and the only way that’s going to happen is if you are in my heart everyday. If we dont start our days off with prayer then we have nothing to help us be righteous during our day. Lord cleanse me daily God. Every morning that way I might glorify you throughout my day. Teach us Lord, teach us to be like you Jesus

  20. 3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Many people are caught up in “traditions” when we need to be more concerned about the commandments of The Lord and following what He says not traditions of man.

  21. LORD HELP ME

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

Life and the opportunities and challenges it presents can very frequently lead us to the place that we need HELP. It is disheartening to witness people we care about and love deeply carry the burdens and weight of rejection, failure, disease and even addiction, when at the mention of the name of JESUS we find HELP through the LOVE of GOD and the peace and joy of the LORD comfort us in times of need.

The proper posture and approach to JESUS is always to WORSHIP.

WORSHIPPED – 4352. proskuneo, pros-koo-neh´-o; (meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master’s hand); to fawn or crouch to, i.e. (literally or figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore): — worship.

When we recognize and accept that we need HELP. We are unwise to approach the LORD with pride and arrogance. GOD is kind, compassionate and merciful, desiring to see his children BLESSED. We grant the LORD permission to BLESS us when we humbly approach HIM seeking HIS counsel and direction. Responding to HIM in FAITH and HUMILITY.

Great FAITH will HUMBLY WORSHIP even against ALL odds. Even when it looks like there is NO hope.

    iRepent
    iWorship
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  22. 3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Luke 6:45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

  23. 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Be careful not to give God half hearted praise. It’s either you live for God with a sincere heart and a made up mind. We can’t have one foot in church and the other in the world. God let the words of my lips be the meditation of my heart!

  24. HALELUJAH,

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

If we too would just humble ourselves, always realizing that we too are unworthy to eat from the MASTERS table, yet HE in his infinite mercy is pleased to call us HIS sons and daughters . We shouldn’t wait for a certain situation to have to humble us, but voluntarily humble our selves before the ALL MIGHTY !!! HALELUJAH!!! I PRAISE YOU JESUS!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  25. But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you.” (‭Matthew‬ ‭15‬:‭18-20‬ NLT)

So many ppl are focused on the outside/what they look like or how ppl perceive them. The main focus needs to be what’s going on on the inside. We need to allow God into our hearts to cleanse us daily. By doing this you’ll notice that the outward will change…

God creates in us a new person

  26. 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

Lord I will praise you with all my heart, my soul, and my mind. No one can compare to how great you are! I thank you for all that you do.

  27. 36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

Hallelujah Jesus! You are just so great and amazing ALL the time Jesus! Sometimes we just see the possible that can happen but u make the impossible. We need to have faith and see the big picture and realize
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Phil 4:13

  28. 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

When things are going great in your life you may not know there are sinful things in heart. But when adversity hits…and you react…this is when you can see what’s in there. Here’s an example: you are hard at work building something with a hammer in your hand & suddenly you miss and hammer your thumb! What comes out of your mouth in this split second tells you if there is evil in your heart. This may be a crude example-you substitute anything here: road rage, you name it…but adversity really can show us what’s in there. If /when we see something there, it’s time to pray.

  29. “But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” There were those using the word of God (Jesus) to vindicate self. The word of God is not to be used to justify one’s own needs, actions and sin. The word of the Lord (Jesus) is exactly that, his word. One should thank God, for a true man of God, which will not twist or taint it. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen.

  30. 2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

All too often we try to justify ourselves by trying to say that we did as the law says, when we might have done the letter of the law, but actual obedience was far from our thought process….

  31. Compassion over duty

    Matthew 15:24
But He answered and said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

Jesus showed compassion on the woman because of her faith. His duty was to the list of Israel. The time of the gentiles had not been open yet she got a blessing.

Faith brings blessings that are pintoff-season.

  32. 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

We must be careful what we let go out of our mouths for it can either make us more pure in God’s sight or it defiles us. For God gives us all great power, and where does it lie? The scripture tells us.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

So we must be careful to guard our hearts, for our tongues manifests whatever can be laying in our hearts and minds. We may think we can hide whatever is dwelling in us and keep it contained. But only when we let go and let God take control of our lives and our thoughts, can we give the right power to our tongue. So choice life, and do not let death come out of your mouth instead, for it will wear away at you and it will defile you and your spirit.

  33. The Crumbs

But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. (‭Matthew‬ ‭15‬:‭23-28‬ KJV)

Pastor Watts preached “It’s a crumby life” on aug 11, 2013 in the morning service. He talked about being satisfied with the crumbs.

    My thoughts–
If the lady in this passage only had crumbs and she got her miracle with the crumbs, why do we think we are too good for those crumbs? What would be do if we had the loaf? –JESUS IS THE LOAF! As we dive deeper into the word and get more of a relationship with him our crumbs get bigger. Like David said, I am not a dog, but my God is on my side! Thank you JESUS for the crumbs in my life.

  34. Lip service

8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

God knows what is in our heart. You could lead in the church in every way and still be lost. Your personal relationship with God will be what gets you in it out of heaven. You can abide by every rule and holiness standard and lose your soul. The answer to it all is being true to yourself and God. You will never be perfect but you can try your best. You will never live up to the law that is givin but you can do your best. God knows whether or not your heart is set on him. Actors only look good in the stage but when you take the fancy clothes and all the make up off they are as human as anyone else. Don’t try to cover up your frailty with the seemingly righteous works of a Christian but rather love God with all your heart and let him move you and use you to accomplish his will. Relationship is the only answer.

  35. 3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

God knows what’s in our hearts, Lord search me
that Tradition never gets in the way of your praise and worship.

  36. Rooted

13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

That which is as a tare will not only be divided from the wheat in harvest, but it will be uprooted. To uproot a plant means to not only destroy fruit and growth but the potential for future life. But we can glean from the inverse presented by v13 as well; if the unrighteousness are uprooted, then the righteous are also to be rooted. In the parable of the sower there were three examples of unsuccessful results of seed and one of success, but one of the unsuccessful is very similar to the successful. The seed that fell upon rocky soil was so close to that of success except it could not take proper root. We in the church must have firm roots in God and in His body if we are to be fruitful as He ordained. Otherwise, were else will our roots grow but into unrighteousness?

    Psalm 1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

    Colossians 2:6-7
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

  37. 4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
    5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

12 Honor your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
    Exodus 20:12

Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
    Ephesians 6:2

I have been studying spiritual warfare in the book of Ephesians. At this point in my study I am convinced that if we could master the warfare in our homes the church would be unstoppable. In Ephesians 6 right before he tells us to “put on the whole armor of God” he gives instruction to children and parents; husbands and wives to make sure these relationships are healthy then go to war.

The Worlds systems and traditions will cause division in the home but the Word of God that was here long before the traditions of man came into play is the only things that will stand the test of time and His return.

AS parents we play a key role in our children’s lives to teach them early. We must teach them key principles like go to bed on time. This principle will last a life time. They will go to work on time. They will get to church on time. Or “do not talk when someone else is talking” this key principle will show them honor and respect and most of all a habit of good communication.

  38. 25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

Sometimes all we have to do is change our approach to God that we may get an answer.

  39. 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Many situations apply to this verse. Many church’s now a days filled with blind followers that just want to hear something that will tickle there ears and get that feel good message to make a sort of amends with God. And at the same time, many good hearted people go to there catholic church’s being taught not to read there bibles and to worship false idols, and generations of tradition bind so many people.

May God give us the right word to fall on fertile ground and impact the life’s of the people we deal with on a daily basis.

  40. 37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
