Hebrews 3

Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

  1. 14. For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. NLT

It is critical to keep the faith that we had when we first believed, and the only way is to be continually refreshed and renewed so that we don’t let it fade away over time. It’s so easy to start out on fire, then allow the fire to slowly burn out but we must endure to the end and not let time and circumstances prevent us from seeing the promised land.

    Ecclesiastes 9:11
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. KJV

    Matthew 10:22
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. KJV

  2. 17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

The Israelis that was full of unbelief was not allowed to enter into the promised land. This proves how important Faith is in living for God, without faith it is impossible to please God.
When we see this as God does, we realize that there might be a time when we could grieve God. There should never be a time that we allow things to enter into our lives to causes us to grieve God. Who wants to be said of them I was so full of unbelief that I grieved God.
Unbelief will cause us to sin and not be saved in the end, let’s use the faith God gave us and let it grow. We will loose what God gave us if we don’t use it, and be filled with unbelief.

  3. 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

You promise land is waiting. All you have to do is believe.
Sometimes what is promised is big. Really big. So big it is literally unimaginable. Yet we must believe. We must keep the faith. And have faith in God that he will do what he said.

  4. Verses 1-6 MSG “So, my dear Christian friends, companions in following this call to the heights, take a good hard look at Jesus. He’s the centerpiece of everything we believe, faithful in everything God gave him to do. Moses was also faithful, but Jesus gets far more honor. A builder is more valuable than a building any day. Every house has a builder, but the Builder behind them all is God. Moses did a good job in God’s house, but it was all servant work, getting things ready for what was to come. Christ as Son is in charge of the house. Now, if we can only keep a firm grip on this bold confidence, we’re the house!”

Keep a firm grip on your faith and hope in our Creator……Lord be the center of my life.

  5. iLove to eat MORE Word

Hebrews 3:18 NLT “And to whom was God speaking when he took an oath that they would never enter his rest? Wasn’t it the people who disobeyed him? 19So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest.”

We have to enter into God’s Rest through faith. Obedience shows faith no matter what the situation might be. Whether it is obeying the Word of God that instructs us to tithe or whether its obeying the Word that comes through the Pastor, we will not find rest until we are faithful and obedient.

  6. MORE HOLY GHOST

7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

GOD is speaking in these last days. The question remains to our generation as to every other generation. Who is listening? The Holy Ghost will speak to us today, to build HIS house or place of authority in us.

We are called to be HIS and become like HIM everyday. The most efficient and effective way to accomplish this is to receive and empower MORE HOLY GHOST in our lives through listening for and hearing what the LORD is saying to us.

    To day HEAR HIS voice.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iHear
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  7. Provocation. Conduct by which one induces another to do a particular deed; the act of inducing rage, anger, or resentment in another person…

Israel went through provocation but did not repent. They hardened their hearts against God and were overthrown in the wilderness never getting to experience the promised land. We may be tried and go through trials both-but by keeping a soft and open heart, he can shape us & mold us and help us through these trials of our faith. We have a promised land too!

  8. 4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

How we build our spiritual house is so important. The principles of the Word are the principles that will last forever. If our foundation (doctrine) is unstable so will our belief system be unstable, and blowed away by every wind of doctrine.

Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain

  9. vs-12
Be careful then dear brothers and sisters make sure your own hearts are not evil and unbeliving turning you away from the living God.
Failure to trust God was the root cause of ancient Israels rebellion. They did not believe and so disobeyed. Faith and obedience are everywhere linked in Scripture for true faith releases us from our fears and results in obeying God gladly.

  10. 14 For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. (NLT)

We must always be faithful and trust in the one true God.

  11. Hebrews 3:12 see to it brothers and sisters that none of you has sinful unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily as long as it is called Today so that none of you may be hardened by sisns deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. This

  12. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

This is why we need to daily be in prayer and be in God’s word and in his presence, for it is only by God that we are refilled spiritual on a day to day basis. If we let the world consume our time more than God, then as the saying goes, you sow what you reap. If you are reaping time with God then God will restore you in your walk with him.

  13. Acts 3:19(KJV)-
    Repent ye therefore, and be convertrd, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

  14. 15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. 16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. They had seen miracles and mighty acts of God (Jesus) as they followed the man that God chose (Moses); however some became hard, and it cost them, and others. Dear God, help me to truly hear and see; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  15. Don’t Turn Away

Following their Exodus from Egypt, the Israelites rebelled against God in the desert when things didn’t go according to their plans. Because of their lack of faith, they didn’t recieve all that God had waiting for them in the promised land.

This chapter makes me examine the things that harden my heart. Their may be areas in our lives that we try and seize control from God. We can ask the Holy Spirit to make us aware of these things; then confess them in prayer and repent. Since rebellion comes so naturally in human nature, the writer to the Hebrews also encourages us to support each other other on our journeys of life (Vs13). We’ve gone too far to turn back now. We are never on this road alone, we simple need to allow God to take the wheel, and be a willing vessels.

  16. 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

We can be in the house of God, surrounded by the people of God, but if we fail to believe, we cannot receive all that He has promised for us.

    The Bakers

  17. Hebrews 3:19 (KJV Strong’s)
19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

    Unbelief

(Olive Tree Enhanced Strong’s Dictionary) g0570. ἀπιστία apistia; from 571; faithlessness, i.e. (negatively) disbelief (lack of Christian faith), or (positively) unfaithfulness (disobedience): — unbelief.
    AV (12) – unbelief 12;
unfaithfulness, faithless want of faith, unbelief weakness of faith

(CWSB Dictionary) 570. ἀπιστία apistía; gen. apistías, fem. noun from ápistos (G0571), untrustworthy. Faithlessness or uncertainty, distrust, unbelief

(Mounce’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and) [602] ἀπιστία apistia 11x unbelief, want of trust and confidence; a state of unbelief, 1 Tim. 1:13; violation of faith, faithlessness, Rom. 3:3; Heb. 3:12, 19 [570] See lack of faith; unbelief.

Unbelief isn’t just not assuming a solid mental affirmation of a biblical truth. Unbelief is not simply just not believing.

Biblically unbelief is equated with faithlessness, disobedience, and being untrustworthy.

When there is a sin that we are constantly trying to overcome our belief in God will help us to conquer the temptation. Biblically belief is obedience, trust, and faithfulness. If we serve, obey and do not give up we will see our enemies defeated.

  18. Remember that sin & unbelief will keep you out of the kingdom. Hear & harden not your hearts…..

8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

    “Holdfast”…………………

  19. So we see that because of their unbelief they were not able to enter his rest. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭3‬:‭19‬ NLT)

This verse is so simple but true… When we sin and try to do things our own way, we enter a state of restlessness (fear, anxiety, stress, depression) which is the opposite of God. We can’t control life. Let’s allow God to take care of us. Submit to His will and He will supply all your needs (peace, rest, joy, blessings)
My God is more than enough!

  20. You get what you say and the man of God can’t bring you to the promise land if your heart isn’t right.

    Hebrews 3:16-17
For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?

    Numbers 14:2
All the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron; and the whole congregation said to them, “Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would that we had died in this wilderness!

    Numbers 14:28-29
Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will surely do to you; your corpses will fall in this wilderness, even all your numbered men, according to your complete number from twenty years old and upward, who have grumbled against Me.

The odd thing about this is God disposes of this people in a way that seems natural. The wonder in the wilderness and die out of old age. God wanted to wipe them off of the face of the Earth. Moses barrens with God saying the world knows of Gods fame from the exodus, but if the people die by the hand of God,God will look weak. Num 14:11-19

Moses saved them from immediate destruction, but they still didn’t make it to the promised land. Num 14:20-23.

We must have a pure heart and speak words of life. We get what we say.

  21. 15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

God while you said that, today if we will hear your precious voice for are heart searches for your presents lord, for thy lord said unto his children that please don’t harden your heart for as in incitement, for our lord is soon to come and take his children with him ,for that he still wants his children to grow and build there faith within the in Jesus Name Amen !!!!

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you do ye even so to them for this is the law and the prophets.

  22. Jesus is the Christ on which we are to build our lives.
Like the story of the wise man who built his house upon the rock we must build our lives I. His word to stand through the tests and trials of life.

For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭3‬:‭4‬ KJV)

  23. 7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

Let us not harden our hearts to God during times of trial but instead turn and run toward him times of need. When we are tempted we should stand song on truth.

  24. For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses? And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭3‬:‭16-19‬ ESV)
It is our belief in Jesus that brings us closer to Him. What we place our faith can heavily effect our lives here on Earth and in eternity.

  25. 12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
    14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

AMEN! Never shall I depart from God because without Him I am NOTHING!!! I believe in His Word and will fight the battle till the end because He will give me the wisdom and the strength. I am MORE than an OVERCOMER!!! Jesus is the center of it all…I will resist the devil and he shall flee me my family and me!!!! Nothing is to big for my God!!!!

  26. 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Unbelief can be defined as the absence of faith.  Unbelief can keep us from many promises. It can rob you out of receiving the miracle that you need, and take away many blessings, most important it will hinder the greatest gift we can have in this earth which is receiving the Holy Ghost.  The enemy’s main goal is to deceive the saints into unbelief, questioning all works that God does and bringing doubt trying to discredit the supernatural works of God.
What can we do then?  The answer is to stay focused on the word.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬ KJV)

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬ KJV)

  27. House builded !!!! 4. For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. Eph. 2 : 10 5. And Mo’-ses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; 6. But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. I thank you Jesus !!!! You are Glorious !!!!
