Psalm 27

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.

9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

  1. Wait on the Lord : be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. (‭Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭14‬ KJV)

  2. Verse 1 MSG “Light, space, zest—that’s God! So, with him on my side I’m fearless, afraid of no one and nothing.” This reminds me of the song we sing “In Jesus Name” and some of the lyrics:

God is fighting for us, God is on our side
He has overcome, yes He has overcome
We will not be shaken, we will not be moved
    Jesus, You are here

God is fighting for us, pushing back the darkness
Lighting up the kingdom that cannot be shaken
In the name of Jesus, enemy’s defeated
And we will shout it out, shout it out

Verses 13-14 MSG “I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness in the exuberant earth. Stay with God! Take heart. Don’t quit. I’ll say it again: Stay with God.”

  3. 1. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

As long as we allow God to be our light, salvation, and strength, we have nothing to fear. It’s when we try to be our own light and strength that we have much to fear.

  4. (3) Though a mighty army surround me,my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked. I will remain confident. (14) Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

  5. I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness in the exuberant earth. Stay with God ! Take heart. Don’t quit. I’ll say it again: Stay with God .
    Psalm 27:13‭-‬14 MSG
14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.K JV

Be of good courage. God knows what we go through. God knows where we are at all times. The trials that we go through, if we follow Him and His guidance and counsel, set us up for blessings far greater than we can fathom. I will continue to wait on You, God, all the days of my life, I pray. Jesus, I don’t ever want to find myself living without You. I will wait upon You, O God!

  6. 14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

There are so many verses that mention waiting, or leaning, or trusting…its very simple to quote and to comprehend these but I believe its repeated so many times perpetually througout the Bible, because it can be one of the most difficult things to do. It has so many benefits, just letting God take the wheel and let him control the outcome but it is alot more than just telling God. its actually waiting…where you dont make that phone call, you dont defend yourself upon scrutiny, you dont do something about your situation..but you almost literally…wait and until God says to move.

  7. 14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Be still and wait our GOD isn’t on our time he know what we need just because it doesn’t happen right a away doesn’t mean he didn’t hear
All things are working for our good

  8. Psalms 27:14 (KJV Strong’s)

    14 Wait on the Lord:
be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

There is an attitude of the victor. No matter what challenge arises, what army approaches, or what wicked may plot and plan to do we are in the winning side, and we are victorious.

You can’t discourage the victor. He is the champion, and fights with a boldness, and a confidence. When everything seems bleak the victor sees the light at the end of the tunnel.

The enemy doesn’t want us to realize that we are the victor. Trust in the Lord. He will come through. We are victorious!

  9. 13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

We all would have fainted due to the struggles and trials of life but thanks be to God he showed us his goodness and greatness in the land of the living! He showed us that “The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us!” By waiting on God we see Him come through for us and make a way for us time and time again!

  10. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

One desire of my heart is that God would know me. I daily allow Him to dwell in this temple I have made. To know we are no strangers to God that there’s an “open door policy” where God, You’re always allowed to dwell in me. Likewise, I pray God would know me and allow me into His presence, to that secret place where I know I’m safe because I know “In His arms I feel protected. In His arms never disconnected. And there’s no place I’d rather be.” That place where I seek His face, to be a woman after His own heart is my greatest desire. “Falling in love with Jesus is the best thing I’ve ever done!”

  11. The Lord is my protector. He is my shelter, my everlasting savior. Without Him, Where would we be? Afraid, hurt, even dead? Wow. He is my ally everything. I love Him. When I am scared ,I can go into him and fell safe and comforted. I am not alone! I am not alone!

  12. iLove to Go Blog
2When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Our God is the God of the Breakthrough! Boom! Wow, what a mighty God with mighty deliverance. When the enemy comes in like a roaring lion to devour us God gives us a breakthrough by breaking the teeth of the lions. Thank You Jesus.

  13. I Love To Worship The Lord
    Freedom from fear
David sets asides his fear finding release in communion with God and in prayer .
Vs 10. For if my father and mother should abandon me you would welcome and comfort me
This vs reminds me of losing my dad a couple years ago and may mother three weeks ago. God has really comforted me I Praise God I can go to him in a time of hurting.
Life’s strongest bond The bond that God establishes with us in Christ is far stronger than the bond that holds parents and child together.

  14. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

How is it that so many take it for granted today that we have the opportunity to speak to and feel the presence of God daily? It was the psalmist desire to dwell in the house of the lord forever and we today house the spirit of the lord within us. We can speak to God every moment of the day. What was once desired by generations passed has become our reality today. Lord give us revelation of who and what we are as Holy Ghost filled christians. I don’t want to take for granted my relationship with you or my ability to come to you freely.

  15. GO AFTER IT

4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

A life long commitment to the LORD JESUS is not possible from a halfhearted desire. Desire is the fire the passionately presses us past the challenging, turbulent places in life.

A decisive mind, one that relentlessly pursues is the one that will GO AFTER IT and refuse to take no for an answer. I choose to LIVE for JESUS, I desire to be in the house of the LORD and to learn in HIS temple. I cannot see myself living any other way, no other lifestyle. I have a made up mind and I am seeking after JESUS and I find HIM in HIS house.

    GO AFTER SpirIT

GO after the Spirit of JESUS, through the Holy Spirit we are empowered to know HIM. Seek the LORD today. Get to Prayer on Tuesday and church on Wednesday.

  17. Psalm 27:14 urges us to WAIT
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Circumstances of our life may look like a tangled mess of threads instead of a beautiful tapestry. Put God in charge and wait for Him to act. Nothing is impossible with Him.

I believe God can handle our life’s pressures and challenges as well.

  18. 1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

These scriptures are so encouraging to me, whenever fear tried to grip my heart. God will raise up a standard when the enemy comes in like a flood! If will just place my trust in God even when I don’t know how it will work out, God will make a way out of a impossible situation.

  19. 11 Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.
12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations.
13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. NIV
We have to wait for the Lord when we ask him something, if we ask him something and then do what we want we are not relying on God. Reading these verses reminded me of the song:
Those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mound up with wings and eagles
they shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint
teach me lord teach me Lord to wait

I am one to admit I do not do good waiting. When I want something or something done, I want it right now. But I am learning thru God’s help how to wait. I am finding out in the long run if you wait things turn out so much better.

  20. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

These 2 verses speak volumes to me-first the desire to live with his Holy Spirit for the rest of my life and to be in his presence in church and beyond for eternity; and second, to be covered by the wings of the almighty God in times of trouble-protected from this world and it’s ways. My feet are planted upon the rock.

4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

Imagine for a moment you had an actual two way, plain English conversation with God; as this scripture states: “to enquire in his temple”. What would you ask God? Not through prayer as we do today but through an actual face-to-face conversation. Keep in mind, as the Bible declares God’s thoughts are not our thoughts. What questions would you ask?

Why is there suffering amongst the innocent? For example, why is Cooks Children Hospital as big as it is? Why is there a need for such a large “children’s” hospital?

Why are there so many conflicting religions? It would seem the extreme diversity of religion and faiths would create static which truly hungry people could and likely do get lost in. Some may find it easier to simply accept rather than continue to dig and pursue. Maybe that is the answer… Do you want people who are quick to give up or do you want your followers to be the people who do not give up and press until they acquire the full knowledge of you?

One of my questions would have to be: How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

  22. 13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Fainting in the old days had to do with the women wearing their corsets to tight. They were not getting enough air and it would cause them to faint.
Sometimes we allow the squeeze of life to cause us to feel as if we will faint as if we cannot go another step. Is this why the next verse says Wait!

I’m not sure how many years it took a physcian to realize that the corsets were too tight and they needed to be loosed. But our Great Physcian knows when life has squeezed us to where we may faint. We have to allow the great Physcian to loosen the corset, but we must be willing, we must continue to believe, we must Wait in His presence. No matter what may be trying to squeeze you into a “fainting spell” be of good courage the great Physcains is right there He is watching, and if for some reason you faint His arms are right their to catch you. Just Wait ! Wait ! Because He has it all under control.

  23. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Powerful chapter…..so true, whom shall I fear?
If God is my salvation, my light, my refuge, my strength, whom shall I fear?!?! The enemy tries to put that seed of fear in our hearts because he knows that if we make up in our mind the power that God has and that He is right by my side. We can do all things!!! The enemy wants to see us with doubt and depressed and confused but my God is mighty, powerful, and righteous!!!

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

I need your daily boldness and courage Lord to not be afriad and just Go!! GO PREACH, GO EVANGELIZE, GO GET SOULS, GO LOVE, GO PRAY, GO FAST, GO, GO, GO, GO!!!!

  24. Psalms 27:1-3
    1) The LORD is my light and salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
    2) When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell
    3) Thou an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: thou war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

No matter what the enemy may throw at me today, I will not fear, but I will be CONFIDENT!
Why? Because the Lord JESUS is my light and my salvation and the strength of my life.

  25. 5 For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock.

How many of us would like to hide when we are caught in doing wrong. We just want to go somewhere and not be seen. If we tell the truth, there is no need to hide and run. The truth will set you free.

  26. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

Every relationship has high’s and low’s including a relationship with God, but as long as we never stop seeking after Him and seeking to grow in Him we will find ourselves in His temple!

My one desire is to have the great testimony that I never left the house of God and went to the world, but that I dwelled in the house of God all of the days of my life and grew into a mighty woman of God!

  27. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

Everyone has a calling… when we have that calling we need to ask God, seek after the calling, do for the kingdom of God for the rest of our life.

  28. 1 Light, space, zest— that’s God! So, with him on my side I’m fearless, afraid of no one and nothing.

God is on our side! We have nothing to fear for he has already won the victory over our enemies! Thank you Lord for being on my side and letting me not have to fear from the wicked of this world!

  29. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

In His presence , at His feet, there is no better place. There we see miracles, healings, and souls forgiven and redeemed… What better place is there than in His presence?

  30. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

  31. 13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

His promises are yea and amen… Sometimes we may fee discouraged with all that is going on and feel as though nothing good comes, but this is a word we can get ahold off. He will not fail. We must not give up for in due season we shall reap if we faint not. Keep doing good keep going forward working in the kingdom.

  32. 6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

GO with a pep in your step, good or bad or even the ugly always praise the Lord. My God is a deliverer, a healer, a mighty God. Thank you Jesus. I say keep that head up so you dont run into anything. Theres walls to be broken, bridges to cross, paths to take. How can you do any of that with your head down everytime you face a problem. Pick yourself back up, give thanks to the Man up stairs and keep on keepin on. GO with a pep in your step, Phillipiens 4:13 i can do all things through christ for he who strengthens me.

11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
Thank you Jesus for this night im about to face, Hallelujah!
    God bless you all!

  33. The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?
    Psalms 27:1 NKJV

Wow if He is our light that means that our path is clear and nothing can sneek up on us. Which means there is nothing to fear because we will be able to What is coming and I’m him we will always have the strength to do anything.

  34. The Lord is my light . My enemies will know that I’m not scared of them because I have Jesus by my side . And if my parents ever forsake me . Jesus will pick me up. Every trail and tribulation I will have faith and trust in Jesus.

  35. 10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

Be thankful for the little things in your life. Do you have parents that live this truth? Be thankful they are raising you in this truth. How hard is it to be the only person in your family to receive such a blessing? Thank you Lord for the man who stepped into my life in high school and asked me to go to church with him. Thank you for the examples set before me and those that inspire me along this path.

  36. Every day we are given multiple options for how we will spend our time and where we will put our focus. Our decisions reveal what me value the most. Jesus told Martha in Luke 10:41-42, there are so many things that demand our attention and energy, and certainly many are important but “only one thing is needed”. A vital, constant relationship with the Lord. David understands this, and it becomes his deepest desire. More than anything else he longs to be conscious of his Father’s presence, to worship God’s incomparable character, and to be guided moment to moment by his perfect wisdom. Such goals will always be the “one thing” that gives out lives meaning.

  37. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple

The things we desire we will seek after. Let us put our eyes on God and desire Him.

  38. Psalm27:1 Today’s English version , Is saying The Lord is my Light and my Salvation _ Whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid ? The Lord is all you need . So live for Him. And wait for him.

  39. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

How great it is to honor the Lord and seek him in his holy temple.

  40. v 1 The LORD is the light and my salvation;
    Whom shall I fear ?
    The LORD. is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?

JESUS is light of the world. Everything changes when we let HIS light in. Our darkness suddenly turns into a picture of HOPE.
JESUS IS the source of all life and light both….
    Physical and spiritual.

  41. 1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

    Hallelujah!!

  42. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
    (Psalms 27:3 KJV)

Even thou an army of my enemies surround me, (Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
    Isaiah 41:10 KJV)

  43. 1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

If you are walking with God there is nothing to be afraid of. It is when you get too far ahead or behind him that is trouble.

  44. 4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

I remember just wanting to go to church, to be with the saints and just praising, but I was ashamed, and I had this thought that I had to get my life together before I can go back! I could get a ride to the club, the grocery store, to cash a check, but getting a ride to church wasnt going to happen! Crazy right? But God knew that I wasnt really trying to get there because if I really wanted to get there I would! God doesn’t expect me to have it all together before I come back to him! I just go and repent and he will take care of the rest! I dont need to desire to GO to the House of the Lord, I just need to GO!

  45. 1 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

    cour·age
    ˈkərij’
    noun
    1. The ability to do something that frightens one.
    2. Strength in the face of pain or grief.

Courage in Hebrew H553: amas, a primitive root; to be alert, physically (on foot) or mentally (in courage):- confirm, be courageous, be of good courage, be stedfastly minded, be strong, be stronger, establish, fortify, harden, increase, prevail, strengthen, strengthen self, make strong, make obstinate, make speed.

This is an area where I need a lot of God and a whole lot less of me. Only God can give me the courage to Persevere over my enemies. Right now my enemy is myself; by that I mean my flesh. Be encouraged that God will guide you (me) to cast down our (my) enemy. It takes inner courage to face down those things in life that can make you turn from God. Be that as it may; God can give you the what you need to stomp the devil back to hell. Remember I’ve got the VICTORY!!!!

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord .
    Psalms 31:24 KJV

Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.
    Ezra 10:4 KJV

  46. 12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

    Lord knows….

  47. “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Many people might seek the hand of God. His hand give, heal, create, and change. But HIS FACE is where we have relationship. It’s where we learn his heart. It’s where he changes our hearts to want what He wants just because we love him. When we seek His face then is when we get the desires of our hearts because our hearts desire what He wants. This is shown in Romans.

    Romans 10:1 (KJV)
Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

  48. Interesting question by David, ‘Whom shall I be afraid?’ If we truly believe that greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world and if God be for us, who can be against us, then why do we fear? If none can stand before us, we are essentially running from an empty field.. no one is even there to stand against us, our greatest enemy becomes ourselves.

The only place to get that confidence is in the house of the Lord. I will dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life because it is there that I receive my strength. I’m not hiding, God is lifting me up above the heads of my enemies so I see the situation from the proper perspective.. the perspective of one standing on a solid rock preparing myself to go forth and conquer!

I love the reminder that it’s not all about the battle and the struggle to survive. I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living is a wonderful reminder that I can enjoy God’s blessings today! Not only is it possible, it is necessary for my strength. He is strong enough to bless me right in the midst of this present world… and those times refresh and remind me of the promise that is yet to come!

  49. 7 Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
be merciful to me and answer me. NIV

When we call on God it shouldn’t just be when we need him to do something for us, everyday we should call on him to worship him and thank him for everything he’s done for us!

  50. 10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

YOUR FAITHFULNESS JESUS IS LIKE NONE OTHER!!! ONLY YOU ARE GREAT AND MIGHTY!!! THANK YOU FOR BEING SO FAITHFUL EVEN WHEN I HAVE FAILED YOU JESUS!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  51. THE LORD is my light and my salvation ; whom shall I fear ? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid ? You are a light unto my path !!!
