Philippians 3

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.

Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.

For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:

Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;

Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

  1. We can rest assured that our rightousness is through are faith in Christ. Looking toward works of the law is fruitless, thus we need to focus not on the past but on Christ’s calling in our lives, and form this likemindedness with our church breathern.

    Message
15-16 So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.

    Total Commitment
    What is total commitment?
Most people today young and old alike do not have a relationship of total commitment. They may say they do yet somewhere there seems to be a glitch.
I’ll live with you but I’ll not marry you.
I’ll walk with you but I may not show up when you need me the most
I’ll love you but my time is mire important than spending time with you. This is not total commitment. To be fully committed is to give 100% to your best abilities. Yes there are times when we miss the mark many times but God is only asking for us to be fully committed. To Him.
I must daily come before Him and be mindful of “Am I fully committed “

Webster Dictionary, commitment is “a promise to be loyal to someone or something.

Do I follow God with all my heart. Do I have a love that does not take His promise for granted. I pray that each day I will seek His will and love Him withholding nothing. I cannot allow anything or anyone to be first in my life except for the One who has saved me and kept me. Will I choose rightful everyday I will strive to. And when I fail along the way I will continue to do better in Jesus name.
The choice is really ours to choose what we are really committed to . Facebook or the Faith Book which will I choose first? Passionate about the newest Gossip or passion for the Gospel?
Yes the choice is mine what will my commitment be?
Daddy used to sing a song “You Can’t Serve God and Mammon that’s what the Good Book says the Lord has called us to His service “.
Total with a sincere heart .

    Rewards of Commitment
    Deuteronomy 1:36
except Calebd son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly.e”

  3. 1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.

Paul wrote many times in this book telling and confirming to rejoice. While Paul was writing this letter to the church in Philipi he was residing in a jail cell, telling them to rejoice in all things. It’s easy to worship God when things are going great and there is no pressure to fall away but to rejoice while things are heavy and under persecution is a completely different type of devotion. We as a a church have to learn how to rejoice in the almighty when things arent easy and to worship him bc of his Glory and truth beyond our emotions

  4. 7I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.c For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. 10I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, 11so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead! (NLT)

There are so many things in this world that could catch our eye and convince us to place our trust in those things. I wander how many times we lose our faith because of failure of the things we have placed our hope in.

    Psalms 118:8 states-
It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

Also in 1 Timothy 6:17 simply states-
    Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

The Bible never tells me that trusting and having faith in Jesus was going to be a cake walk, but as long as I suffer with my trust in him in this world, I’m going to enjoy the presence of his glory around the throne when he tells me to enter in thou good and faithful servant. I have to hold on to my faith in him no matter the cost in this world below. My prayer this morning is that we hold fast, do all we can to stand against the enemies, and keep P.U.S.H.ing until we at least are present with him.

    Pray until something happens!
    Proclaim until something happens!
    Praise until something happens!

    I love the Kingdom!

  5. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,
14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. (NLT)

Thank God for the blood, thank God for His mercy, and thank God for His grace. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done if you just keep moving forward with your eyes locked on Jesus and His Kingdom.

“I’m alive in You, You’re alive in me – in You I’ve been set free. My past is gone and I’m moving on into my destiny, yeah. All things are new, this life with You. You’re helping me to see that all my past is gone.”

  6. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Dont look back at your past. You are not defined by what happened to you before but you are defined by the calling God has placed you in right now. Dont be stuck in the “what if”s of the past but think what you can do right now through Jesus.

  7. Philippians 3 :14-15 (Amp) I press on toward the goal to win the ( supreme and heavenly to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. [15] So let those [ of us] who are spiritually mature and full- grown have a mind and hold these convictions ; and if in any respect you have a different attitude of mind. God will make that clear to you also. Follow the plan what God has for you and me. He has already set a purpose and promise for each of us. Be a example and observe the pattern of the Lord. We will never stop learning about Jesus.Every day will be something different that we will learn about him. Kept on pushing and pressing toward his word. No matters what it cost ! Just do it ! I bless you in the name of Jesus.

  8. Philippians 3:13-14 (kjv)
    13) Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
    14) I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

    Philippians 3:13-16 (cev)
    13) My friends, I don’t feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead.
    14) I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven. This is the prize that God offers because of what Christ Jesus has done.
    15) All of us who are mature should think in this same way. And if any of you think differently, God will make it clear to you.
    16) But we must keep going in the direction that we are now headed.

Forget what is behind. Reach forth, Press toward, and Run toward the prize that is ahead of you. Keep going in the direction that you are headed, and you will attain (succeed in what one desires or works for) that prize.

  9. 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

God will continue to shape us and mold us if he allow him to reveal to us our shortcomings. He will lead and guide us if we will hear his still small voice and tune in to him, tuning out the roar of the world. We can do it and he has an expected end for each of us. Keep pressing for more of the kingdom.

  10. iLove the Kingdom
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before

This is the perfect scripture for those of us who have a past. I realize some folk are perfect and were raised on a pew, however those of us who aren’t can lean on the words of Paul when he incourages us to forget those things of the past

  11. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Get out of my way, I’m Moving Forward.

Don’t hold back. God has put the universe into motion. From the very beginning of time, we have moved forward. Time, only moves Forward. Life only moves Forward. God , only moves Forward. Once He forgives ,it is forgotten. When we look back and dwell on the past, we will miss what is happening around us. We must stay focused on the Kingdom at hand. We must press forward, and shine for Jesus. Let us show this dark world the light of Jesus Christ.

  12. 2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.

Use the gift of discernment and be cautious of dogs and evil workers. You never know it but the devil can be sitting on the pew next to you. Old saying be careful of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Ask God to remove the scales from your eyes and let you see the true image of others and their works.

  13. I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ
    Philippians 3:7‭-‬8 NLT
Everything else is worthless compared to the infinite value of knowing the Lord Jesus Christ! If we placed such a high value on knowing Jesus, everything else would take second place and we would truly seek Him first! If our values drive our decisions, habits and behavior then people should be able to see the value I place on serving Jesus!

  14. AMP 7 But whatever former things were gains to me [as I thought then], these things [once regarded as advancements in merit] I have come to consider as loss [absolutely worthless] for the sake of Christ [and the purpose which He has given my life]. 8 But more than that, I count everything as loss compared to the priceless privilege and supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord [and of growing more deeply and thoroughly acquainted with Him—a joy unequaled]. For His sake I have lost everything, and I consider it all garbage, so that I may gain Christ, 9 and may be found in Him [believing and relying on Him], not having any righteousness of my own derived from [my obedience to] the Law and its rituals, but [possessing] that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith. 10 And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did]; 11 [d]so that I may attain to the resurrection [that will raise me] from the dead.

This “priceless experience that is joy unequaled” cannot be compared to anything; riches, education, knowledge, nothing can compare. Yet so many of us live far below our privilege. The same power that resides within Jesus Chrismt resides in us, and although there are sufferings that come so that we may know HIM more, the good far outweighs the bad. Putting on His righteousness in place of my own, laying aside me and Christ in every aspect, inviting Him to be FIRST in all my situations, decisions and happenings will make this priceless expereince even greater.

  15. Let us rejoice , Theres bueaty in learning God’s Word in this World but theres also eyes God gives you to see what really is in this World !!!
2 Beware of Dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
Get out of my way im moving Forward in Christ
14 I press toward the mark of the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus
Thank you Jesus for your Word , Grace and Love that endures forever

  16. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ…

They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth.
    Philippians 3:8‭, ‬19 NLT

What are we willing to cast aside, throw out, give up, do with out in order to gain Christ or to benefit His Kingdom? Are we really the losers in that exchange? We’ve all witnessed to people who look at our lifestyle and say they couldn’t live without their makeup, their pants, their televisions, their illicit sex, their alcohol, or whatever. They can’t seem to get past what we are “giving up” to see what we have gained. Dennis and I were just introduced to someone the other day with the line, “They are Pentecostals; they don’t drink or dance,” as if what we don’t do defines us more than Who we serve, as if there is only loss to believing the whole Word of God.

We live in such a society that not doing all and having it all seems outrageous to people. Sin and salvation, to this age, should be able to coexist. One can life for God and for the world at the same time. You can think only about life here on Earth and still expect eternity in Heaven. Since “Jesus paid it all,” this generation feels we have no obligation to give back or to give up anything.

I can honestly say that I don’t feel deprived of anything I had when I was in the world. God has given me so much more than I could ever give back. Those things are worthless, meaningless to me now. I’ve traded dung for peace, confidence, security, hope, joy, unconditional love, power and angelic protection, and life everlasting. I’m the winner in this exchange. I’ve truly been blessed!

  17. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    GOING FORWARD

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

The Kingdom of GOD is filled with warfare as we have learned. In warfare there are emotions that awake. Feelings of defeat, feelings of victory alike create emotions that are spiritually draining. Seeking FIRST The Kingdom of GOD is our key to maintain a healthy advancement in The Kingdom of GOD.

Paul describes this exact scenario. He is VICTORIOUS in JESUS, however, he does not live his life as though he has “arrived” spiritually. This attitude of arrogance is sickening to GOD.

Like Paul we are challenged to live humbly victorious lives, walking in victory while humbly seeking GOD.

We accomplish this by living each day, as to win each day. Forgetting those things which are behind. Forgetting setbacks, setups and victories secured. We press toward the mark.

The life goal of every believer should be as verse

    10 That I may know him…

Who can say they know all of GOD?

We know him because he first knew us. This is my motivation and zeal to Seek FIRST The Kingdom of GOD. Because there is MORE of HIM to find. A daily desire to seek HIM is healthy and strengthening to our walk of FAITH.

I encourage you today to continue pressing forward. Keep the Seek.

  18. This letter started out by saying the same thing with the people of already heard. Some people get tired of hearing the same thing over and over. But in this case it was something that they need to do here because it still was relevant. There are many things that are relevant and stay relevant to us that we might not want to hear again, but it is essential as we are still going through the same things.

  19. 12 I’m not there yet, nor have I become perfect; but I am charging on to gain anything and everything the Anointed One, Jesus, has in store for me-and nothing will stand in my way because He has grabbed me and won’t let me go. Voice

I don’t want to live my life barely making it by. God has treasures and anointings and blessings in store for His people, and I want everything that He has in store for me!

  20. I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,
    Philippians 3:7‭-‬10 NLT
When GOD begin to work in us our whole lifestyle begins to change we don’t do the things we used to do, it’s that desire to have him . let’s go back to to the time when you first got save your face was in the Bible all day and you were in church every time the door were open , at the point nothing else matters but JESUS . You tell yourself what if I could go back to the same person I used to be when I first got in church. The answer is you can I believe that what Paul was speaking to the people about sometimes your back against the wall maybe it may seem like there no way . he’s making ways when their is no way , he’s opening doors when there is no door to open and he’s working even when it’s doesn’t seem like he is working . Don’t lose faith never stop getting hungry for God.

  21. 12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.

No one is perfect except Jesus. We all have our flaws that we try to hide, or others see in us. We should always strive to be like Jesus–perfect. But we’ll be tempted by our natural instinct. Good thing we have a loving and forgiving God. All we have to do is ask for forgiveness, and all will be forgiven.

  22. I Love To Worship The Lord
Forgetting what is behind vs 13-14
The word Paul uses means OVERLOOKING Our past is irrelevant and those things we once relied on now must be discarded that all our energy might be given to following Christ
The goal is complete present experiential knowledge of Christ Yet the more we learn of Him the greater our joy and reward.

  23. Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example. For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ.
    Philippians 3:17‭-‬18 NLT

In a world of social media and followers, who do you follow and who follows you? What are your actions and words saying about you? And what direction is pointing others who look up to you? Out of the abundance of the heart we speak and our words become our actions. May all that we do in word or deed be all in the name of Jesus to his honor and glory and to guide others to Him.

  24. For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

  25. I felt to read the psssage again this evening…..

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Must continue to go forward. We can hold on to memories but there comes a time that we must move on . If we have lived in sin we leave sin behind. Even if we have lived for God for years we still cannot look behind but continue to focus on the next step He wants us to take. It will continue to get us to the prize He has for us. The High calling if God is such a privilege. Many are called but few chosen to do what He has equipped them for. His purpose Hus plans. Thank you for your peace that transcends into the next step. Loving You more and more while pressing towards more of You.

  26. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
    Philippians 3:15‭, ‬20‭-‬21 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/php.3.15-21.KJV

The bible speaks of seeking like minded individuals. How are we to become strong in our walk if we don’t get fed. That is why we gather in a building. Yes we call it a church, but the bible states that we are the church. What do I want; this crusty world of over thinkers or do I want the conversation of heaven. Let me think 🤔: um I’ll take the conversation in heaven. This world can offer me what: teaching and preaching of worldly things and how God doesn’t exist. Ha, that’s a lie from the pits of hell. Devil you have no hold over me. In triumph or defeat I give you all the glory God. Lord let me walk in the footsteps of the kingdom. Guide me to become strong in your conversation: continue to guide my steps. Thank you Jesus.

Lord I pray that we stay close to You and Your Will for the POFW. That our lives, our hearts, our minds will be set on Seeking First the Kingdom in all things. In JESUS NAME!

  28. 6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

The more I put Jesus in it and the less Nora the easier this relationship will be!

  29. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

The right things that I do thinking it’s of my own self is not true righteousness for the Kingdom. But it is not the good I do but the good that Christ does through me.

  30. “They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.”
    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:19-20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We are not of this world. We are of His Kingdom. And we must be Kingdom Minded. We must think on pure things and things that are true. We must put on the mind of Christ.

  31. 3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

We are the circumcision because we should be living our lives as living sacrifices.

  32. Verses 15-16 MSG “So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.” We cannot allow anything to distract us from our promise. I think of the song “More of You”:

    I made my castle tall
    I built up every wall
This is my kingdom and it needs to fall
I want You and no one else
    Empty me of myself
Until the only thing that’s left is

    More of You
    Less of me
Make me who I’m meant to be
    You’re all I want all I need
    You’re everything
    Take it all I surrender
    Be my king
    God I choose
    More of You
    Less of me

    More of You

This life I hold so close
Oh, God I let it go
I refuse to gain the world and lose my soul
So take it all I abandon everything I am You can have it
The only thing I need is
    More of You
