Job 35

Elihu spake moreover, and said,

Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?

For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.

15 But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:

16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.

  1. 5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

    10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

Even when I can’t see it working; even when I can’t feel it your working…
You never stop, you never stop working!

So glad God hasn’t given up on me! Oftentimes we give up on God because of our carnal nature but God never gives up on us, what a MIGHTY MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE!!

    • 10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

Even when I can’t see it working; even when I can’t feel it your working…
You never stop, you never stop workin

      Thank you for the reminder.
God is truly our song in the night. He gives the test we need. The lullaby of the Gentle Shepherd or maybe it’s s victorious roar a song of Jubilee even in the midst of the night. But just to realize He is our Song. It brings peace and energy to the spirit.

  2. But it is wrong to say God doesn’t listen, to say the Almighty isn’t concerned. You say you can’t see him, but he will bring justice if you will only wait.
    Job 35:13‭-‬14 NLT

Even when we think God isn’t listening; He is. He hears us, but may not respond due to the life we’re living. God doesn’t give up on us; we give up on Him. Dont allow your carnal mind pull you from the greatness that has been put before you. Thank you Jesus for opening my mind and my heart.

  3. And now, because He has not punished in His anger, Nor taken much notice of folly, Therefore Job opens his mouth in vain; He multiplies words without knowledge.”
    Job 35:15‭-‬16 NKJV

Sometimes I think God let’s us see our short comings for what they are! and then he allows us to grow and learn from them. We are all striving for the same goal. and everyone goes through a trial, a valley or storm different. I dont think that ii makes us bad or indifferent. What did Elihu want from Job? Did he want him to beg God to remove this from him, beg God for forgiveness, wouldn’t that be in vain concidering that Job was innocent, I’m. gonna ask this question again. WHERE WAS THE PRAYER WARRIORS AT? It’s sad that job was unable to get the support he needed from his friends an hos wife. Lord help me to be a friend and a wife that is supportive and one that is uplifting and encouraging!
    FIRST THE KINGDOM
When friends aren’t so great….GOD IS GOOD

  4. Job 35:2
Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?

Truly Only God can carry all of these attributes!
We can only hope to seek after them and do His will.

All have sinned and come short of God’s Glory. Search me daily Lord .

    Righteousness
the quality of being morally right or justifiable.

synonyms: goodness, virtue, virtuousness, uprightness, decency, integrity, worthiness, rectitude, probity, morality, ethicalness, high-mindedness, justice, honesty, honor, honorableness, innocence, blamelessness, guiltlessness, irreproachability, sinlessness, saintliness, purity, nobility, noble-mindedness, piety

    Matthew
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (v. 33).

    Isaiah 43:2
When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you

    .

  5. What we do or do not do, does not affect or changes the fact that God is God!!!! If we chose to do right or we chose to do wrong. GOD NEVER CHANGES HE REMAINS THE SAME!!! He still adorns our morning with the glory of sun and the night with the twinkling stars. He continues to be righteous by us. So, who are we to demand or act with reproach when things don’t go our way??? We MUST come to the realization that EVERYTHING HE DOES HE DOES IT FOR OUR GOOD!! So next time things do not go your way, put on the whole armor of God and sing HALLELUJAH ANYHOW!!!!!

  6. f thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

  7. Verses 9-10 CEV “In times of trouble, everyone begs the mighty God to have mercy. But after their Creator helps them through hard times, they forget about him, “. Same verses MSG “When times get bad, people cry out for help. They cry for relief from being kicked around, But never give God a thought when things go well, when God puts spontaneous songs in their hearts,”. We must give all praise and all glory to our God at all times, whether in the good or the bad.

James 5:13-16 AMP “Is anyone among you suffering? He must pray. Is anyone joyful? He is to sing praises [to God]. Is anyone among you sick? He must call for the elders (spiritual leaders) of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with [a]oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].”

  8. 6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

Contrary to this belief sin does do something to God, as does righteousness. Sin separates us from God and righteousness draws us closer. Righteousness is simply being obedient and what you know. While nothing can separate us from the love of God sin can hide his face from us, and even if our righteousness is as filthy rags, we are able to walk closer to God in this

  9. Sounds like busy people that make ones life their business!!! People need to stay in their lane. Geesh leave him alone!!! If GOD hated him (we know he didnt) or if he didn’t what is it to them??? Mind your business….. help me JESUS!!!

  10. 6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

When we sin we not only hurt ourselves but we also hurt god beacause god believes that we can conquer over anything. So.etimes we need to realize how strong we are with god.

  11. 2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?

3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

we cant say that we are righteous before GOD when we dont live a and walk in his word

  12. You say he does not respond to sinners with anger and is not greatly concerned about wickedness. But you are talking nonsense, Job. You have spoken like a fool.”
    Job 35:15‭-‬16 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/job.35.15-16.NLT

God is God alone. His Justice and His judgement are for Him to decide upon, not for us to scrutinize.

  13. Judgment Before God
Job 35:13-16 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it. Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him. But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger ; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity: Therefire doth Job open his mouth in vain ; he multiplieth words without knowledge.

Proverbs 15:29 The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

Psalm 37:5,6 Commit thy way into the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the light, and thy judgement as the noonday.

  14. 8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

    10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

Many times we go through some trial or tribulations, not to see if we can deal with pain or with the test to our relationship with God, but to test the faith that was dealt to us. According to the Bible we are dealt a measure of faith. We have to be tried so that our faith can be multiplied to grow or it will simply stay the same.

    Hebrews 11:1
1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

We may not see God or sometimes we may not feel him, but he is there and he is working on our behalf. That is faith to say I know God is working for me. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and watch you faith be activated. Seek him while he is near and he will carry you through the trial.

  15. “Surely God will not listen to empty talk, Nor will the Almighty regard it. Although you say you do not see Him, Yet justice is before Him, and you must wait for Him.”
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭35:13-14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God is faithful in all things, at all times. The MSG version gives examples of how people may tend to pray and acknowledge God only in their time of need, but even when life is good, GOD IS GOOD!!! Never doubt the work He’s doing behind the scenes, He’s an on-time God who does all things well!

  16. 35:14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet
Judgement is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
    ——-
All right, how about let us make up our minds that God is for us? And not against us, let us quit throwing a pitty party , and be determined that God is in control , let us be aware that God is the authority, and whatever the devil does, or sends, it’s because God aloud it….
Let’s talk about how big and powerful our God is. Let’s talk to the issues , let us speak up today, let us be encouraged in Him who is able….🙌🙌🙌🙌
    In Jesus name, amen.
    We do t know
    We do t understand
But like Paul : I do t know, but God knows… hallelujah 🙌🙌🙌

  17. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    LOOK UP

5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

We need to look no farther than the sky to recognize the size of our GOD. I believe GOD created the sky to give us daily hope of eternal life. The sky represents the eternal heavens and vision that is available to us.

On challenging days or in turbulent times of life LOOK UP and see that GODs LOVE reaches into the heavens above the clouds.

Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iGo

  18. 2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?

3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

10 But none saith, Where is God my maker,

  19. 10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

Some people don’t even consider God in their dilemmas except maybe to blame him for their troubles. But the church can continue to pray that God give our neighbors and loved ones a hunger and thirst for Him, for his righteousness, so they will be filled. 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land.

  20. iLove the Kingdom
3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

Wow, if you really think about it, this is the mind frame of most the world…(and even some Christians). While we serve an invisible God most of the sin we face is visible. A couple weeks ago while receiving offering, I asked the question if I had a million dollars to my left verse wisdom and the knowledge of God on the right, who would take the counsel of God over the money. The visible or the invisible? Sounds like an easy question, but in reality alot of folks (in my opinion) would choose the money. Sin is the same way, most choose the temporary pleasures of sin over the eternal promises of God and that is why they say, “What profit shall I Have if I be cleansed from sin?”

  21. 2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?
We think that we are better than god but we are really not
We need him in our life and he is so good to us cuz he loves us and we love him

  22. 16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.

Vain speaking, idle words – we will give account to God for the words that we say. What does idle words achieve? Nothing, sometimes hurt. They don’t benefit anyone, they just use air and energy that is wasted. Sometimes they reveal anger and frustrations, sometimes they reveal hurt and shame , and sometimes they reveal carnality.

Often times when children are just learning to talk, when they want something you will hear their parent say “use your words.”

Let’s use our words and efforts to bring honor and glory to our Creator instead of shedding a negative light on Him and thus Christian walk. Maybe we should examine what we say to see why people are not following us.

  23. 8 No, your sins affect only people like yourself, and your good deeds also affect only humans.
13-14 But it is wrong to say God doesn’t listen, to say the Almighty isn’t concerned. You say you can’t see him, but he will bring justice if you will only wait.

Without God we are nothing and without us He is still God. Our choices only impact us and those around us, good or bad, it’s up to us if we praise God through it all for it to impact the spiritual realm. He knows everything, so every word we ask of him he will show himself true on his timing.

  24. Job 35:10, “But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night?”

Paul and Silas where prime examples of having a “Song In The Night.” They were thrown into prison and had their feet fast in the stocks, “And at midnight Paul and Silas PRAYED, and SANG Praises unto God…”

Why is it that at night our troubles seem the biggest and are felt the deepest?
This is when we need to PRAY to God Our Maker, and think upon His Goodness to us, and thank Him for being our Helper, our Healer, our Provider, our Deliverer, Our Refuge, Our Strength, etc… Then we too will have a “Song In The Night” experience, and SING Praises unto God.

Psalms 42:8 says, “… and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.”

  25. “And when they cry out, God does not answer because of their pride. But it is wrong to say God doesn’t listen, to say the Almighty isn’t concerned.”
    Job 35:12‭-‬13 NLT

God is always concerned with the cries of the righteous who are committed to following His will.

“The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.”
    Proverbs 15:29 KJV

“Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.”
    John 9:31 KJV

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”
    1 John 5:14 KJV

Our problem, therefore, with unanswered prayer is not because God isn’t listening. It is usually because of one of the following:
    * We have mis-aligned priorities,
    * We have mis-diagnosed the need,
    * We have mis-heard His voice,
    * We have mis-understood His will,
    * We have mis-interpreted His timetable, or
    * We have mis-construed (failed to recognize) His answer.

God is faithful. If we are not experiencing that faithfulness in the way we expect we should, we probably have a ‘mis-‘ or two in our lives. When we ‘mis-,’ we miss out. However, if we will spend the time in repentance, study, worship, and prayer that we need to perfectly tune in to His voice and will, then we will begin to experience more hits than misses. God is listening!

  26. 3 For you also ask, ‘What’s in it for me? What’s the use of living a righteous life?’

The first thing many ask, why should I do it, and what’s in it for me. How will I benefit for living a righteous life? Simple answer, pain & agony or do you want peace & joy forever. The more you serve the kingdom the easier it becomes. The better chance of entering heaven. You have alot to lose for not living a righteous life.

  27. In this chapter at the end it started talking about how God gives us everything we have like our wisdom. Just always remember that God loves us and he truly cares that is why he gave life to us. PRAISE THE LORD POFW!!😁😁😁😁

  28. 2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?

I will put God in righteousness

  29. “When times get bad, people cry out for help. They cry for relief from being kicked around, But never give God a thought when things go well, when God puts spontaneous songs in their hearts, When God sets out the entire creation as a science classroom, using birds and beasts to teach wisdom. People are arrogantly indifferent to God— until, of course, they’re in trouble, and then God is indifferent to them. There’s nothing behind such prayers except panic; the Almighty pays them no mind. So why would he notice you just because you say you’re tired of waiting to be heard, Or waiting for him to get good and angry and do something about the world’s problems?
    Job 35:9‭-‬15 MSG
    https://bible.com/bible/97/job.35.9-15.MSG

Its always easy to call on God when things are going wrong. Just like its easier to complain about someone or something instead of seeing the good in the matter. We decide when it is nessary to talk to God or to say somthing nice about someone or something. Why is this? Why is it so hard to confront the good in things and give God glory or credit? If we are able to complain then surly we are able to complement. Like every one/thing, God requires a balance. You wouldn’t continue to listen to someone who complains all the time, at least i would try to avoid that person if it were my ears are being soiled.

If we are more apt to complain or call on him when we are in need, then where does your faith stand. Do you not believe that he takes care of his people?

  30. 13Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.

    Faith in an unseen God

In vs.14…therefore trust thou in him. Wow, as I was reading this, my thought went to faith. We must have faith in God. We must believe that He is with us. We must trust that His Word is true and that the words that are brought forth are well spoken. There is a great deal of faith to truly trust and believe in God. In a culture where 0eople want evidence, it is hard foe some to have faith. This is why it is so important for us to live and show a godly life style. I must seek after God’s Kingdom first everyday. So that i make sure that i am doing my best for myself and so that i can prepare for a day to show other the way to salvation.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

  31. 5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

We must always have a mindset of a humble servants in this carnal world that we live in, and we should always show others how to put god first and ourselves last.

  32. But it is wrong to say God doesn’t listen, to say the Almighty isn’t concerned. You say you can’t see him, but he will bring justice if you will only wait.
    Job 35:13‭-‬14 NLT
This is a true statement from Elihu. God is not obligated to answer us right away at the moment we ask. Sometimes He does and sometimes He takes a very long time. Sometimes we’re blessed because He didn’t answer a prayer that we prayed because it would not be good for us. He may not answer when we want because He is sovereign, not us! Yet, we can rest assured that He hears us and we may be building a memorial before Him like Cornelius did.

  33. 5 Look unto the heavens,
Look into the heavens when you are on a time of need, look into the heavens when you feel like everything around you is falling apart cause behind every storm there is sunshine behind all pain is strength and peace

  34. 15 But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:

During the moments we read the word of God we get revelations and truth out of every word. We receive faith by the hearing of the word. Everything we get comes from the word of God.

But everyone we read about didn’t have a reference to the word of God we have. My thoughts say “what would we have done in Jobs position?” “How would we have reacted?” With all this we need to obviously keep reading the word and learn every day because that’s what it is there for. My faith and trust in God will pull me through. I need to trust God in all I do because if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be in the great position I’m in.

  35. Yet they don’t ask, ‘Where is God my Creator, the one who gives songs in the night? Where is the one who makes us smarter than the animals and wiser than the birds of the sky?’
    Job 35:10‭-‬11 NLT

Where is God? Some people seem to live their lives as if there there us no God. Others despite their hardships still dont seek out God. They will try anything but Him.
He is there even when we cannot see him at work. He is there if you just call on Him. Cry out to Him and he will let himself be found.

  36. 13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

    Job 39:25
He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting

  37. 6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

  38. 12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

Pride will cause more trouble than a person could imagine. Pride is what got Lucifer thrown from heaven. Repent and be humble, and watch Jesus move in and around you.

  39. 12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.

When you hear someone say pride and vanity aren’t sins; show them this passage. Or I’ve even heard when they say it’s not a huge sin. “Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.” If God will not hear it or regard vanity then I definitely feel as though it is a sin. Be careful not to let pride sink in. Vanity is not of God, but it is so easy to give into. Stay modest and humble.

  40. “When times get bad, people cry out for help. They cry for relief from being kicked around, But never give God a thought when things go well, when God puts spontaneous songs in their hearts, When God sets out the entire creation as a science classroom, using birds and beasts to teach wisdom. People are arrogantly indifferent to God— until, of course, they’re in trouble, and then God is indifferent to them.”

We are the bride of Christ. We have to make sure we praise and worship God throughout anything that may come our way. … for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health …

  41. Job 35 :10 [Amp] But no one say’s Where is my God my Maker, Who gives songs of rejoicing in the night. [ Acts 16: 25] But about midnight , as Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and [ others prisoners were listening to them. Throw down your past and forget about and come and rejoice with Lord. Sing to Lord a new song , Sing to the all the earth. Sing to the Lord, and bless, his name . Give praise And glory at midnight. Glory Halaula.
