Genesis 27

And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.

And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:

Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison;

And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die.

And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.

And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,

Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the Lord before my death.

Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:

10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:

12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.

13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.

14 And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.

15 And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:

16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:

17 And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.

18 And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?

19 And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy first born; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.

20 And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the Lord thy God brought it to me.

21 And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.

22 And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

23 And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau’s hands: so he blessed him.

24 And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am.

25 And he said, Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son’s venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him wine and he drank.

26 And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.

27 And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the Lord hath blessed:

28 Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:

29 Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.

30 And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

31 And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that thy soul may bless me.

32 And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.

33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.

34 And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.

35 And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.

36 And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?

37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?

38 And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.

39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;

40 And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.

41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.

42 And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.

43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran;

44 And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother’s fury turn away;

45 Until thy brother’s anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?

46 And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?

Jacob Rebbeca favorite son or mom knew that son was going to need help down his life ahead . She knew that Isaac had everything going for him to succeed in life . I found it hard to believe that a parent would play favoritism tried to help one more than the other ones yeah .

  5. Esau replied, “My brother deserves the name Jacob, because he has already cheated me twice. The first time he cheated me out of my rights as the first-born son, and now he has cheated me out of my blessing.” Then Esau asked his father, “Don’t you have any blessing left for me?”
    Genesis 27:36 CEV

No one can keep you from what rightfully belongs to you unless you decide to give away for a moment of pleasure! Esau never considered his future, for himself, his wife, his children, and generations after him, he lived for the now.
This is the mentality of the world….your one choice away of living a life of blessings or a life that is cursed!. Don’t take your eternal life lightly.

If you follow your selfish desires, you will harvest destruction, but if you follow the Spirit, you will harvest eternal life.
    Galatians 6:8 CEV

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
    Proverbs 18:21 KJV

  6. 11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:

There will be people out there trying to steal your blessing with deceit, lies, wickedness, but God will find a way to bless his people that deserve it. Dont loose faith in God.

  7. And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.

6 And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,

7 Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the Lord before my death.

8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

In his heart, Jacob knew that deceiving his father was not the right thing. How many times do we allow others, even those that are closest to us, to make wrong choices that will affect our destiny? Rebekah also knew that her encouragement to deceive her husband was not right, but out of her fear that Jacob would be passed over by Esau, she allowed her flesh to take over. We must not allow our flesh to dampen our spirit and cause us to lose out on what God has for our destiny!

  8. 40. You will live by your sword, and you will serve your brother. But when you grow restless to be free, you will break his yoke from your neck. Voice

We live with a lot of things for far too long, when we should grow restless of them quickly and break their yokes from our necks.

  9. 12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.
13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.

Be careful who you listen to in the church. Not every voice has God’s plan in mind. Sometimes they have their own wants and needs in place first. Just because they come dress up and look the part does not mean that they have God and Pastor’s best thoughts at heart. Don’t be misguided by someone with ill intend that is not of God. When you want to deceive someone, that is not of God.

18 And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?
19 And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy first born; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.

It may have started that he was listening to his mother, but then he lied to his father. No, one made him lie. We always have the choice between right and wrong. We have the choice between being labeled the deceiver or something else.

24 And he said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he said, I am.

  10. 6 And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,

7 Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the Lord before my death.

8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:

10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

I wonder if mom knew about the birthright? If she did do you really think she would’ve helped her son decieve his father. Either way them boys needed some order. Jacob a deceiver, Esau full of pride, it’s starting to more like another Cain and Abel again. Jacob was willing to do whatever it took to get his blessing and he had mom helping. We gotta do whatever we can to get our blessing, just don’t be deceiving folks.

  11. Genesis 34 -35 [Amp] When Esau heard the words of his, father , he cried out with a great and bitter cry and said to his father. Bless me , also , O my father!
[35] [Isacc] said, Your brother came with crafty cunning and treacherous deceit and has taking your blessing. Esau became a profane ( godless and sacrilegious) person . He sold his own birthright for a single meal. Latter on when he wanted [ to regain title to] his inheritance of His blessing, he was rejected ( disqualified and set aside). He could find no opportunity to repair by repentance of what he had done. There will be people out here trying to steal your blessing . When they try to deceive you , Lie to you . The Devil is a liar ! Dont lose your faith. God has given you. God loves you and He will bless you.

  12. “You will live by the sword and you will serve your brother. But when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck.””
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭27:40‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How many of us have allowed the world to be our Jacob, swooping in and snatching our promised blessings right out of our hands? We need to grow restless with being in second place, take off the yoke that’s been placed and begin to walk in freedom and liberty! You are an overcomer, you have to find it in you to fight.

  13. 36 And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing.

I think Esau needs to take responsibility because although Jacob used trickery, Esau allowed it. Esau did not value what he had. Yes, sometimes we need to a very close look at ourselves in the mirror and do a self evaluation so we may come to His throne with a constraints heart and repent so we may be blessed. SO BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU SELL YOUR BIRTHRIGHT FOR! This world is full of trickery one moment of pleasure (a bowl of stew) can cost you eternity in hell.

  14. And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy Lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son? And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.
    Genesis 27:37‭-‬38 KJV

Jacob was definatly a deceiver, but he wasnt the ring leader, his Mom started the ball rolling, she was definatly determined to get her way, and seems like Jacob didnt buck against it. Honesty goes along way, and it will always turn out the way God purposes it to reguardless of our devises!

    First the Kingdom
When deception is upon you, God Is Good

  15. 17 And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.

Is it terrifying for some in the church today that will try their best to fool the people around them and even be bold enough to approach the lord at an altar and think that they can fool god. In the time that I have been in ministry, these people I have come in contact with and it is a very sad situation because the truth would not be in them. They get so lost in the lies they are living, the truth is no where to be found.

The Bible states that the truth will set you free and also if you seek first the kingdom, God will give you discernment for those to pray for and hopefully God will deliver them from the wickedness they are in. You know if we can fool our pastor and our friends and the easiest of all ourselves, but we will never fool God.

We have to live in the truth and speak the truth and love the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  16. Esau exclaimed, “No wonder his name is Jacob, for now he has cheated me twice. First he took my rights as the firstborn, and now he has stolen my blessing. Oh, haven’t you saved even one blessing for me?” Then Rebekah said to Isaac, “I’m sick and tired of these local Hittite women! I would rather die than see Jacob marry one of them.”
    Genesis 27:36‭, ‬46 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/gen.27.36-46.NLT

Everything Jacob learned was from his mother. We must be careful of even our little mannerisms because our children can inherit our worst habits. Intentionally sewing into our children and intentionally parenting will help guide our children into successful people. Intentional Sunday school. Intentional hospitality. Intentional prayer. Intentional ministry. He’s an Intentional God. We need to be intentional with all we do.

  17. 11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:

12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.

No matter how much we try we can never hide our sins from because god sees all, it’s like trying to call a pig in a dress a person…….it just wouldn’t work. We must always be an open book to god even when we know we’ve truly done wrong.

  18. 11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:
12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.
13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.

While what Jacob did what is deceptive and it lives up to his name of being a sub planter, taking things that he did not sew, Jacob was very resistant at first knowing that his father would probably not fall for such a plan. Jacob just listen to his mother and his mother was the one who was willing to take the curse upon herself and order for her son to receive the blessing. And ful fill the prophecy which was spoken as they were born that the older would serve the younger. The way that Jacob and his mother with about it was wrong it was almost as if there was no faith to fulfill the prophecy any other way. It reminds me of Judas betraying Jesus and thinking that if Judas had not betrayed Jesus he would not have died all the cross but God always has another way. I have found in my whole walk with God that God has a way of taking my mistakes and turning them into a blessing whenever I become repentant but the true blessing truly lies whatever in just being obedient to what I’m told to do by him. Perhaps Jacob would have received his promise and blessing another way if he had not listen to his mother without any of the consequences of deceiving his father. There are many things that we can take away to which story in the Bible that teaches us a lesson of send consequences and what happens when we turn our life around and give it to God. The foundation for each lesson is that God be that foundation. Jacob may have deceived his father under his mother’s instruction but he was still hungry for spiritual things. His appetite wanted that of God. While the method and the way we go about doing things is of the utmost importance the real question lies and where is our hunger? Are we hunger for the immediate gratification of things or the eternal satisfying ones

  19. 21 And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.
22 And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

The voice will give you away.

Wow, as I was reading this, my thoughts go to this. Do you know the true voice of God? Isaac knew it was the voice of Jacob, but instead went with what he felt. Your feelings can get in the way from what is truly happening. Whenever something happens, it is best to set your feelings aside, and know what is to be truth.
We played the old game of telephone, in our class this past week. And I knew the phrase had been changed when one of the Girls yelled out,” Bro. TIM, would never say anything like that!” And they were correct I wouldnt have said it. But that young lady knew what I would have said, because she knew what my voice/words would be. If it doesnt seem right, then it probably isnt. In seeking First the Kingdom of God, we must, must know the voice of our Father. We must know what He is saying throug& the man of God and His Word. I must know my Father’s Voice.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

  20. iLove the Kingdom
    “Obedience is Better than Sacrifice”

Gen 27:8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

Jacob was just chillin’…minding his own business maybe coulda possibly been writing some poetry or something like that. Maybe watering some goats or eating some grapes. Coulda been reading a book, or maybe watching Netfix… (that is someone fixing their fishing net…net fix.) Then momma hollers! Jacob! Git over here boy! So here comes Jacob and says, yes ma’am. Momma knows Esau is about to receive the blessing…God knows that Esau is about to get the blessing…Esau knows he is about to receive the blessing…But there is only one problem…Esau has already despised the blessing. Esau has a bad heart. Esau doesn’t even understand the importance of the birthright or the blessing. He already sold his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of beans. The birthright literally belongs to Jacob. Jacob literally owns the blessing. The Lord already told Rebecca that the younger would receive the blessing. It’s already been prophesied, already been purchased. Check this scripture out y’all. Rom 9:10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) Rom 9:12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. Rom 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. Rom 9:14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

So all Jacob did y’all was obey momma. All momma did was believe the prophecy. We know lying is wrong. Jacob lied. Maybe Jacob should have just told his father that Esau despised his birthright. “Yeah paw, Esau gave me his birthright for a bowl of beans…” Maybe Isaac would have accepted that…. Not sure about all that, but what I am sure about is Jacob truly obeyed his mother and father in all things (even when it came to finding a wife) to the point to where one day it would come back on him with himself being deceived. Jacob was under authority and he received the blessing.

How in God’s green earth do folks think they will be blessed outside of obeying their authority? You go right on Esau, tell me how that turns out

  21. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    THE IRREVOCABLE BLESSING

28 Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:
29 Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.

I am not sure how Rebekah expected this to play out, lies and deceit never turn out good. Anger and resentment were sure to follow. The birthright and now the blessing; reveals the deep disfunction in this family.

What caught my attention today was the strength, stability and surety of the BLESSING. Although obtained deceitfully, it was final, powerful and irrevocable. JESUS spoke THE IRREVOCABLE BLESSING over us.

Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The difference being that the Blessing of JESUS is eternal, while the Blessing of Isaac was generational. When we seek First the Kingdom of GOD we establish our heirship in the Eternal Blessing of JESUS. The Blessing of JESUS however cannot be obtained through deceit, but through humility and servitude.

My prayer today is that JESUS would release in the depth of our hearts the desire to Seek HIM First and HIS Eternal Blessing before we seek that of this world and its Temporal Blessing.

    Lets GO Seek JESUS

  22. Genesis 27

41 Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him. He said to himself, “The days of mourning for my father are near; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”

    Grudge 1.
a persistent feeling of ill will or resentment resulting from a past insult or injury.

But when we become more concerned about the gifts rather than the giver,

I am amazed it should I say disappointment arises even within my self when a lady offense rises to my mind because of family incidents that separate unity.

How sad that two brothers even at the death of their father were more concerned about an inheritance. Through the years of watching families fight over a set of dishes or an insurance policy someone else spent to a book that should have belonged to someone it makes me wonder how God sees all of this mess. The family was supposed to be about unity. I didn’t see one time in these scriptures the concern of what can we do to comfort Issac the entire chapter is in deception. One trying to out do the other stealing grudges offensively leading to someone wanting to murder their own brother…..yet it happens everyday. You see murder doesn’t have to be physically but it can be emotional. Tearing down torturing with the tongue until you have finally killed every emotion they have. Even in the church our own spiritual brothers and sisters . Where will it lead lies to our own Heavenly Father lies to one another facade hiding behind deception. What a terrible place to dwell. And it started with one simple bowl of beans that can be purchased at the dollar store. God help us all to be wiser than this to learn some deep lessons. Yes families have disagreements they make mistakes but we must quickly be ready to forgive and not worry about being the receiver.
If I will seek first the Kingdom of God I can find satisfaction in what the Father gives. Peace of mind is much more valuable a pure heart more of a treasure than any possessions here on earth.
What words of wisdom would Issac have given Jacob as the younger what would have changed what really could have been the outcome if there had been no lies not deceit no grudges . We will never know. Really it comes down to what will I choose to do . God always gives us a choice sometimes we choose unwisely.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

  23. 8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:

10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

Victor Jackson used this chapter to speak to us on this subject Friday night.
How hungry are you for the blessings of God?

Jacob didn’t let anything stand in his way from getting the blessing of his father.

Though we should never be deceptive as Jacob was, maybe we could learn a lesson from his persistence.

How far are you willing to go, how long are you willing to spend, how much effort are you willing to put in to get the blessing of your Heavenly Father?

  24. “And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭27:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jacob knew it wasn’t right to do what his mother was telling him to do however he did it anyways. I don’t understand why he would go through with this even when he already knew it was wrong. But then again he wanted to reap the blessings and was willing to do whatever to get to it. He allowed flesh to get in the way. Sometimes as Christians we listen to others voices instead of listening to the spirit of god. We allow jealousy, deceit, envy to get in the way of our hearing. Be wise and make sure you aren’t blocking your blessings because you are listening to the wrong voice.

  25. 15 And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:
16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:

Rebekah must have have pondered the prophecy of her eldest son Esau serving the younger, Jacob, and seeing her husband Isaac’s life wane, must have thought about it and prepared how to see Jacob blessed. It was prophesied and God may have put it in her heart to see it come to pass, but we also reap what we sow. Jacob reaped deception while working for his uncle Laban and his life while there was hard even though he was blessed by God.

  26. 22 And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

Who’s voice do we hear? Who’s voice do we choose to obey? Sometimes the situation or the choice may feel right, but is it in line with what the voice of God is speaking?

We must have relationship with Him to know His voice. Know His voice, obey His voice, and no matter what, you know you’ll be in the Will of God. Don’t let what the flesh feels, get in the way of what the God’s voice is speaking.

  27. 6 And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,

7 Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the Lord before my death.

8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth

15 And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:

16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:
Jacob, true to his name (trickster or scoundrel), was happy to go along with this plan. His only concern was if it would succeed. Once Jacob overcame his fear of getting caught in his deception, he was ready to carry it out. Rebekah manipulated both Isaac and Jacob, but Jacob was willing to be manipulated.

Good men have gone very wrong when they have thought of aiding in the fulfillment of promises and prophecies. See how Rebecca erred in trying to get the promised blessing for Jacob. We had better leave the Lord’s decrees in the Lord’s hands.
We must be gentle caring and loving towards people and be humble and have the mind of Jesus.
    BE KIND

  28. And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,

7 Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the Lord before my death.

8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

As a mother I would rather walk with wisdom and give godly council to my children than to lead them on a path of deception. Especially against another one of my children. If there’s anything beyond Apostolic doctrine and Biblical truths that I want my babies to understand is to love their brother and sister and stick together. We are one family and family lead each other to the Word in all matters

  29. 41 From that time on, Esau hated Jacob because their father had given Jacob the blessing. And Esau began to scheme: “I will soon be mourning my father’s death. Then I will kill my brother, Jacob.” NLT

You don’t just fall into sin. It starts as a thought, builds to a burdened heart, and drives us to action. Esau allowed hatred to mold his thoughts and create a plan of action!

As children of God, we could focus on the wrongs of the world, yet we are “Living in the Light” and should focus on such!

  30. “And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau. And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau’s hands: so he blessed him.

And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the Lord hath blessed:”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭27:22-23, 27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This reminds of the scripture that the sheep know the voice of their shepherd. It’s with relationship. And we can’t go by our other senses. The enemy attempts to come to us in a disguise but we must wise and stay close to Jesus.

  31. ““But look,” Jacob replied to Rebekah, “my brother, Esau, is a hairy man, and my skin is smooth. What if my father touches me? He’ll see that I’m trying to trick him, and then he’ll curse me instead of blessing me.” But his mother replied, “Then let the curse fall on me, my son! Just do what I tell you. Go out and get the goats for me!”

So Jacob took the food to his father. “My father?” he said. “Yes, my son,” Isaac answered. “Who are you—Esau or Jacob?” Jacob replied, “It’s Esau, your firstborn son. I’ve done as you told me. Here is the wild game. Now sit up and eat it so you can give me your blessing.””
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭27:11-13, 18-19‬ ‭NLT‬‬
We have to be careful of who’s voice we are listening too..

  32. Genesis 25:31-33
    31) And Jacob said, sell me this day thy birthright.
    32) And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
    33) And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

    Genesis 27:36-38
    36) And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?
    37) And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?
    38) And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.

There is nothing in this world worth “selling your birthright for.”
Be careful not to “sell your birthright,” because if you do, you will “lose your blessing” also.

  33. 27:20 And Issac said unto his son, How is it. That thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he said, because the Lord thy God brought it to me.
    ———
….Because the Lord thy God brought it to me . He was obedient to what his mother said….
    When God makes a move.

  34. 38 Esau pleaded, “But do you have only one blessing? Oh my father, bless me, too!” Then Esau broke down and wept.

Yes, Esau may feel like there in no more blessings for him. But with God, he will always continue to bless you. No matter what you’ve done, what your past is, what your sin is, God will bless you.

Deuteronomy 28:6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.

  35. Genesis 27

Rebekah was told by the Lord that Esau would serve Jacob (as yet unborn, Genesis 25:23). Assurance was given, when the twins were born, by Jacob taking hold of Esau’s heel. (Genesis 25:26)

Even so, Rebekah felt the need to take it into her own hands to see that Jacob received Esau’s blessing from Isaac.

Because of this deception, which could have been avoided if she had let God handle it, Esau was bitter and planned in his heart to kill Jacob.

When we take matters into our own hands, the answer we have been wanting – even expecting – can turn to a bitter end on someone’s part. We need to wait on the result of God’s Word, rather than strive to make things happen as we want them to. If we try to hurry things, it often results in disaster for someone. I also speak from experience.

But God is good, and if we trust Him, He will set things to right. We just need to have patience and wait on him.

  36. Genesis 27 speaks in many ways to my life, today God brought to my attention, this: what God placed in ur life, his blessing his talents his divine grace, no one can take it away ,
and this happens many times,in r lifes, People tries to reach high positions with false deception, using tricks to achieve their goal to have a position to have power,

and this story highlights it to me like this:
what God gives you and deposits on to u no man can take it away,
Alot of times people uses his power to crush you to remove a title, but if this is  from God  no man nobody can take it from u, what’s urs is urs
What God gives u is more than a tittle q position, when man close a door God will open many other one’s
1 – That when God gives you something, there is no one to take it away from you.

    Who had blessed Abram?
Who gave the land of Israel to Abram?
Who told him: In you all nations will be blessed? Who told him: I will give this land in inheritance to your offsp2ring? God says in his word that He is not a man to lie, nor a son of man to repent (Numbers 23:19). The heavens and the earth will pass, but my words will not pass (Matthew 23:35). And how many hundreds of years have passed since the people of Israel left their land, until when they could return? The prophet Ezekiel, in his book and chapter 37, heard how God told him that the dry bones would rise and that they would come alive, and that from all places in the world, the people of God would come together again, to no longer separate of his land never again. As he said, so it was fulfilled, because God’s promises are faithful and true

  37. 1 And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.

Here I am God.before your presence, before your throne room make me kingdom minded take me deeper than I have ever been

  38. 42 And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.
    43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran;
    44 And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother’s fury turn away;

So much deceit, and now it cost more than she wanted.

Although Jacob was the deceiver, Rebekah was where it all started. She didn’t mind playing favorites with her children, and in the end, it cost her. Many times we think that if we are “slightly” deceptive to help our favorite “get ahead”, then the ends justify the means, but WRONG! The ends do NOT justify the means. Jesus is a just God. He is looking for a bride that is honest, not a gossip, and not a busy body. Jesus does not play favorites.

If we only knew what lied in store for our children, or our friends, or our families, when we play favorites, or deceive, we might not be so quick to justify ourselves.

Also, if you noticed, she pushed all the blame on Isaac, and refused her involvement, saying “which thou hast done, “. Pride will always push you to blame someone else.

  39. 1 And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim,

Jacob decived his father because he wanted to get what he wants . But he hurted

  40. In this chapter Jacob pretend to be Esau. In my personal opinion I this Jacob was jealous of Esau. We should never be jealous. God gave each in every one of us a personality and a heart. Everyone have their differences. Jacob took Esau’s blessing. That is wrong. We should never take someone else’s blessing. We might think God is not going to give us a blessing, but he will. God has things planned for all of us. We just have to wait and see what he has for us. ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH POFW!!!😁😁😁😁

  41. “So Jacob took the food to his father. “My father?” he said. “Yes, my son,” Isaac answered. “Who are you—Esau or Jacob?” Jacob replied, “It’s Esau, your firstborn son. I’ve done as you told me. Here is the wild game. Now sit up and eat it so you can give me your blessing.” Isaac asked, “How did you find it so quickly, my son?” “The Lord your God put it in my path!” Jacob replied. Then Isaac said to Jacob, “Come closer so I can touch you and make sure that you really are Esau.” So Jacob went closer to his father, and Isaac touched him. “The voice is Jacob’s, but the hands are Esau’s,” Isaac said. But he did not recognize Jacob, because Jacob’s hands felt hairy just like Esau’s. So Isaac prepared to bless Jacob. “But are you really my son Esau?” he asked. “Yes, I am,” Jacob replied. Then Isaac said, “Now, my son, bring me the wild game. Let me eat it, and then I will give you my blessing.” So Jacob took the food to his father, and Isaac ate it. He also drank the wine that Jacob served him. Then Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come a little closer and kiss me, my son.” So Jacob went over and kissed him. And when Isaac caught the smell of his clothes, he was finally convinced, and he blessed his son. He said, “Ah! The smell of my son is like the smell of the outdoors, which the Lord has blessed!”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭27:18-27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Sometimes it is difficult to discern a lie, and whether a statement is sin or not comes back to the question of intent; but other times it is not difficult at all, and here Jacob clearly lied to his father.
Jacob did not hesitate to give credit to God as part of his deception.
Even under repeated questioning, Jacob stayed confirmed in his lie. Partially, Jacob took advantage of his father’s good nature and Isaac probably would not believe that his son Jacob would lie to him so repeatedly.

  42. Isaac was about to die and his son tricked him. We shouldn’t trick daddy because he’s a man of God. A man of Jesus.

  43. From that time on, Esau hated Jacob because their father had given Jacob the blessing. And Esau began to scheme: “I will soon be mourning my father’s death. Then I will kill my brother, Jacob.”

We tend to know that after a lie, betrayal tends to rise hatred and anger. As a mother she should’ve seen it coming. I believe Jesus wants to bless us abundantly we just can’t sell our birthrights. We can’t let the enemy steal what is ours. We can’t let him take what belongs to us for Jesus has promised us blessings over us and it shall happen. Don’t let no one steal your blessings!!!

  45. We can be blessed doing what the word of God says. We must put aside the things that are not like God. We have the power to be overcomers. As children of God, we must not let down to the things of this world. God has made us to be strong and bold.

  46. I’ve heard preachers and teachers talk mostly about how Jacob was the one in the wrong in this situation, how he cheated his brother or how his mother cheated Esau but I have 3 sons. I know my 3 sons. I know their voices and their manner of words. I know their likenesses and their differences.
When they are upstairs playing I can tell which one of them is walking around just by the sound of their trod. My problem with Isaac handing over the blessing to Jacob is this, I believe he knew who it was the whole time. I believe that Isaac wanted to bless Jacob but didn’t know how to go against the traditions in which he believed. The point is… most of the time to be deceived you have to welcome that deception in, you have to throw away good reason and council, you have to want to be deceived maybe to use it as an excuse like Isaac did to Esau after he had blessed Jacob. I believe decker was not only a choice for Jacob and Rebecca but also a choice for Isaac.

  47. But you shall live by your sword, And serve your brother; However it shall come to pass when you break loose [from your anger and hatred], That you will tear his yoke off your neck [and you will be free of him].”
    GENESIS 27:40 AMP

Isaac prophesied that only when Esau would be able to forgive his brother that he hims3lf would be free of his brother’s reign over him.

Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
    Psalms 4:4 KJV

Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. -Psalm 4:4

How horrible that Rebekah did such harm to both her sons and destroyed her own family.
Lord help me to unite my family and never do anything to destroy it.

  49. 33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.

How many times does the Father not extend a blessing to whosoever will? How many times doe he not invite us to go to the altar for there He has a blessing. Yet many, despite the call, stay behind with the birthright mentality and entitlement. Saying i dont need it. I’m Gods son. And then find themselves barren, broken and crying. Some one else already rushed to the altar and. Gave it all to God and God bless in return. Service after service there is an invitation. How hungry are you for a touch and move of God in your life? How hungry for a blessing that you will do whatever it takes?

A friend of mine once told me, always go to the altar. God will always have something for you there. Oh how it’s been so true.

  50. Lies & deception is not the right way to gain a blessing or favor from the Lord. But, it was passed down from his Father! God honored his chosen Isaac….

    “Be yourself “…….

  51. Bringing deception before our father. We cant fool him because he knows all, but what if we try. Its supposed that we would get our blessing but at what cost? Ask you shall recieve right? The church may be fooled but its our heart the God sees. Its the manner of our works that God takes into account and its faith that motivates us. Doesn’t matter how many layers you put on God still sees the real you. Dont steal a blessing, earn it.

  52. In this chapter, we see how lies and deceit do not bring forth anything good. We must not allow other voices to impair our judgement; but, rather take everything to your altar. Some of these voices, do not have your best interest at heart. If someone is helping you be deceitful or making an avenue for you to do so, you might wanna think twice about what is actually taking place and run from that evil.

Psalm 37:27-28 AMP “Depart from evil and do good; And you will dwell [securely in the land] forever. For the Lord delights in justice And does not abandon His saints (faithful ones); They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked will [in time] be cut off.” Do not get cut off; but, be faithful!

  53. Just cause others may get blessings or answers/ signs from god or it may be early than yours dont be jealous because god wants to see you work for him. Its not about speed its about endurance.
