Exodus 1

Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.

Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,

Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,

Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.

And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:

10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:

14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

15 And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:

16 And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

18 And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

19 And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

  1. Verses 20-21 MSG “God was pleased with the midwives. The people continued to increase in number—a very strong people. And because the midwives honored God, God gave them families of their own.” These women honored, respected, feared [with profound reverence] God. When we do our part and are obedient to what we know God is ordering or is His will, God will bless as he did these women.

Also in the beginning of this chapter it said in the MSG version that there was a “population explosion” and this is what I see coming on Friends Day. Ten to Win times (x’s) what???

  2. 17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

The More the listen and obey God the more he will reward us. God is the one True King and if the king of man doesnt follow the word of God then there isnt a reason to follow what he says.

  3. 9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

The Pharaoh let fear drive him to turn a friend into a slave. It was due to the multitude of the people that he was afraid they would turn against him and overtake Egypt. His mistake was that he made his decision purely out of fear. We can personally take a lesson out of this chapter not to allow fear to cause us to make rash decisions. Pharaoh used his power to turn these peaceful people into slaves because he was scared they would attempt to overtake his throne even though there was no sign that would indicate they would do such a thing. That is something that the enemy plays on us constantly; speaking in our ears things that sound logical but have absolutely no indication trying to get us to make decisions that go against the man of God. One of the greatest weaknesses at the church has is making decisions out of fear or impure desires. if we can learn to sit and be still and wait upon the Lord we can often avoid making decisions that would later have consequences.

  4. 16 And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.
17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

The society we live in wants to oppress and/or destroy God’s people, it has been this way for a very long time. In today’s society, they may not be literally killing people but the enemy is trying very hard to spiritually kill our men and women in the Gospel. But we must be strong and not fear the enemy, the only one we should fear should be the Lord.

20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

For in fearing God, he will bless us and make us to multiply those blessings. Again, the enemy doesn’t want us to fear God but fear the world. But, in fearing God we are blessed mightily.

22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

In fearing God, don’t be surprised when the enemy hits harder and try’s even more to bring you down.

  5. Seeds/Roots/Death/Growth

Exodus 1:7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

*difference in authority ruling with Insecurity is dangerous.

    God is love
1 John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

  6. 8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph

Stayed too long in a temporary place. God always meant Goshen to be a temporary place; but people got comfortable. Many of us, God places us in a situation that is meant to be temporary but we get comfortable, and we make it permanent. Some places and some people are in our lives to teach us a lesson and leave, but in our selfishness or in our fear to lose, we keep trying to make them permanent in our lives and we become slaves to it. Sin is the same, is a temporary pleasure that causes a permanent result, SPIRITUAL DEATH!!! Don’t linger for a long time in a place that God meant it to be temporary. Let God help you move by HIS HOLY SPIRIT IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION!!!! In Jesus Name Amen 🙏🏻

  7. 17. But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

    20. Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

    21. And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

Another example of blessings coming because they put God’s Kingdom first before man’s kingdom.

  8. 1:21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God
    That he made them houses.
They were commanded to do something ( by their earthly
Authority) but because they feared the Hod of Abraham, they chose to stand up for what was right.
…… God saw that and they were blessed. Let us ask ourselves this question whenever we may find ourselves in sticky situations.
    What does God say?

  9. 9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:

10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

Even though the new King wanted to stop the Israelites from growing more, whatever he did couldn’t stop Gods plan. The midwives feared God so they didn’t even bother with the new Pharoah’s request of them killing the boys. Always remember he’s working even though you can’t see him. God has a plan and we have to quiet our minds and hearts to hear him.

  10. Exodus 1

17-18 But the midwives had far too much respect for God and didn’t do what the king of Egypt ordered; they let the boy babies live. The king of Egypt called in the midwives. “Why didn’t you obey my orders? You’ve let those babies live!”

19 The midwives answered Pharaoh, “The Hebrew women aren’t like the Egyptian women; they’re vigorous. Before the midwife can get there, they’ve already had the baby.”

20-21 God was pleased with the midwives. The people continued to increase in number—a very strong people. And because the midwives honored God, God gave them families of their own.

These two women protested against the authority of the king. They would not take the life of the children as ordered. In this world we are living In we must take a stand. God blessed even these two Egyptian women for the stand they took against the murder of babies. We cannot be afraid to stand up for the word of God. I also believe these verses make a great statement a proclamation into the world there is a distinct difference of sexes. Our world is taking facts and literally believing falsely they are not the sex they were born with. I truly believe if we will stand up against this spirit and began to pray fervently we can see this confusion of the generation choose what sex you want to be. There are hurting people wanting to be set free.
Shiphrah and Puah. Stood their ground and God Blessed them. We must pray for the authorities of our world and for those standing up for what is right in God. In Jesus name.

  11. Exodus 1-20-21 [Amp] So God dealt well with the midwives and the people multiplied and became very strong.
[21] And became the midwives revered and feared God, He made them households [ of their own].
The Hebrew women were not like the Egyptian women. There is only one true King and Lord’s of Lord’s that we need to listen and wait for his answer . Keep your eyes and heart focus on the Lord. Pray in the Holy Ghost. I pray Lord today that will used me and lead me to hurting friend. Lord bless the region of Ft Worth.

  12. 17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

Remember who you serve. We serve the King of kings and His Word will stand forever.

  13. Jacob’s descendant’s grew and multiplied in the land of Goshen in Egypt in time the new King Rose to the throne and never knew about Joseph and practically ruined the Israelites lives.

  14. iLove the Kingdom
…”if it be a son, then ye shall kill him”

Wow y’all, I’ve never put two and two together before. Pharaoh tried to start up the first Planned Parenthood clinic. Look at the next few scriptures when the midwives refused to be hired on as staff at these clinics, Exo 1:20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
Exo 1:21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

God deals well and gives houses to those who take a stand against abortion. Let’s pray for the babies, whether they are born physically or spiritually, and we will be blessed and multiply.

  15. Pharaoh said to kill all the baby boys and let the baby girls but the midwives let the baby boys live . And Joseph had a bigger crew then Egypt. Pharaoh said they are bigger than us we need to get bigger than them. Now what I think is that he’s just not looking at the good side he’s just keeping its focus where he wants to go he wants to do.

  16. Exodus 1:8-10, 17, & 20-21 (ESV)
    8) Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph.
    9) And he said to his people, Behold, the people of Israel are too many and too mighty for us.
    10) Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and, if war breaks out, thy join our enemies and fight against us and escape from the land.

    17) But the midwives feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but let the male children live.

    20) So God dealt well with the midwives. And the people multiplied and grew very strong.
    21) And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families.

In this chapter today, we find two different kinds of FEAR. “A spirit of FEAR, and A FEAR of God.”
This new king of Egypt had a “spirit of FEAR” in him. He was afraid, alarmed, and anxious. The children of Israel were multiplying and becoming strong, and he was afraid that if their enemy came, the children of Israel would join forces with them and fight against them.
The midwives had a FEAR of God, which meant they had a reverence (deep respect, admiration, appreciation) and an awe (wonder, amazement) of Him.

2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that, “For God hath not given us a ‘spirit of FEAR;’ but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” God has not given it unto us nor does He want us to live in a “spirit of FEAR,” of being afraid, alarmed, or anxious. But He wants us to live in Power, Love, and Peace.
Also, we must have a FEAR of God in us though. We must reverence (show deep respect, admiration, appreciation, etc…) for God at all times. And we live in awe (wonder, amazement, etc…) of Him everyday. Because the midwives had a FEAR of God, they were blessed.

Psalms 115:13 says, “He will bless them that FEAR the LORD, both small and great.”
FEAR (reverence) the LORD, and be Blessed!!

  17. “And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.”
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭1:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Your enemy knows when you’re living righteous.
The Bible says blessed are the righteous. So the enemy is gonna do whatever he can to get you to fall off the righteous path. Why would the pharaoh say that about the Israelites, he could see they had favor and he was intimidated by that. But God.
God has another curveball for pharaoh the women fear God more than they fear man. When you think about it that ratio is backwards today more people fear man than they fear God. That’s why Pastor is driven for us to seek ye first the Kingdom and his righteousness because we then receive favor. What’s the word say it says AND ALL THESE THINGS DHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU.
So I’m not gonna stop serving
    I’m not stop evangelizing
I’m not gonna stop spreading the gospel
And I’m not gonna stop sharing my testimony of deliverance.

  18. Exodus 1

1 Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.

2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,

    3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,

4 Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

5 And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.

  19. Exodus Chapter 1 verses 1-5
Are talking about the names of the Children that came to Egypt and the children came with Everyman and his household so he had 11 children and all the souls had come out of Jacob and there were seventy souls with Joseph in Egypt

  20. 6 And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

There is a time for life and a time for death.
We are each called for a season of purpose. Through that purpose we should take the time to train up the next generation. Share with them the hows and whys, that the ministry can continue throughout all generations.

  21. 16 And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

As I read through this passage of scripture only one thing came to mind. And that’s how the world we live in is trying to normalize abortion. This is just more scriptural proof that it is NOT in the Will of God.

Satan knew that the Messiah would come from the children of Israel. Therefore he tried to destroy the whole nation in one generation by ordering all the male children killed.

But the midwives feared God: They probably feared Pharaoh and his power; but they feared God more. For them, the choice was clear.

The choice for us is clear too. We must take a stand for what is against the Will of God and He will deal well with us.

  22. 17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

  23. 7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
    Exodus 1:7

This family started with five people back in Haran: Jacob, Rachel, Leah, Zilphah, and Bilhah. Blessed by God, the family of Israel grew rapidly in their years in Egypt.

Genesis 47:27 says, So Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions there and grew and multiplied exceedingly.

They did indeed multiply exceedingly over the generations , so that the land was filled with them.

11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour.
    Exodus 1: 11-13

This was God’s purpose for Israel’s time in Egypt. Egypt served as a mother’s womb for Israel, a place where they rapidly grew from a large clan to a mighty nation.
The nation could not grow this way in Canaan, because it was practically impossible to avoid intermarriage with the pagan and wicked inhabitants of Canaan. Egypt was so racially biased and had such an entrenched system of racial separation that Israel could grow there over several centuries without being assimilated.
This growth in the face of affliction has consistently been the story of God’s people, throughout all ages, the more they are afflicted, the more they grow.
Because God’s purpose was to bless Israel and fulfill His role for them in His eternal plan, no amount of affliction could defeat His purpose. The Egyptians tried their best through cruel slavery; but it did not work.
    Isaiah 54:17 proved true:
No weapon formed against you shall prosper.

The wickedness of the Egyptians could hurt the children of Israel but could never defeat God’s plan for them. In the midst of their cruel and harsh service, life must have seemed hopeless to the children of Israel, and the idea that God was working out His plan must have seemed very far away. Yet it was true nonetheless.

No matter what we are facing today, God has a purpose for us.

“ Suffering and persecution are like a great wave that comes upon a ship and looks as if it will destroy it; but the ship catches the wave and just uses it to speed along”
    – unknown

  24. 12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

It is funny that the more the Israelites were afflicted, the more they multiplied and grew. It is awesome to see how God can take something that looked drastic and turn it to be positive. Even in bondage God will set up his plan and will deliver his promises.

Seek first the kingdom to fulfill God’s promises in your life and even though the circumstances may feel like there is no way to overcome but God will step in right on time. I am reminded of the song that God is an on time God.

  25. 16 And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

    Don’t kill your Promise

As we read here, the midwives would not kill the boys. But why is that? They feared God. The loved and respected God with all that they had. And in the end it would do them well, for God blessed them with homes. Too often, we are quick to just do, when in reality we should take the time to pray about and seek after God for what He is wanting us to do. Have you Prayed? Have you asked God if this is His will? As we continue to Seek after the Kingdom of God First, we must ask ourselves are we truly seek after it First? Sure we can we are, but when was the last time you asked God about who should you talk to in the store, or what coworker needs a word of encouragement?

In Matt 10:42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
How are you ministering to others? How are you saving someone? To the man in the dessert, He does not need a heat lamp, but water. To the one who is hurting, they do not need a rebuttal, but a word of encouragement. To the lady with 4 kids hangout of the buggy, she doesn’t need someone to stare, but a helping hand in getting the groceries in the car. Ministry is not behind a pulpit, but being Jesus to someone.
When we do these things, God will bless you. Do it because you love God, and because of how someone may look at you.
There was a time, my mom and I were heading to the store, when at the busy intersection, there was a Big truck that ran out of gas. One stop light, about 300 yards away, and the gas station was right there. I ran out and started pushing, then 2 others jumped out of their cars and came to help. Don’t kill your promises of God by not helping people. That’s the problem with this generation, what’s in it for me? Nothing, just knowing you did the right thing is good enough.

Seek ye First the Kingdom of God.

  26. 13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:

14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

The enemy may make our life hard for a time, but he cannot take away the blessings of God!

  27. 21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

The fear/reverence of the Lord is something that is missing in the lives of many people today. They seek to please others rather than pleasing God hoping to gain position, status, money, desires etc.

God blesses those that do right, in spite of what those in authority may say. Pastor has said it many times, it doesn’t matter who you please, as long as you please Jesus. Sometimes hard choices have to be made, and we have to stand for what we know is true and right, even when it goes against what our boss, instructor, teacher etc may say.

God will honor your choices by choosing Him.

  28. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    THE HUMAN RESPONSE TO ABORTION

16 And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.
17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

We witness here a government decision for abortion or murder of babies. The spirit or reason behind this mandate was fear of losing control or being overtaken by the children of Israel.

A carnal leader of a carnal nation decides to kill babies to control a nation…

Some humble ladies, fear GOD and reject the command…

    Sound familiar.

Why is there such a strong push for abortion and open immigration in America the strongest, most powerful nation in the world? We could be reading the answer today in Exodus 1.

Notice the midwives were not Jew, were not Israelites, but they were human. This compassionate human nature is from GOD. We need Revival in America, return to GOD fearing, loving and compassionate ways of living and serving.

  29. 15 And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:

Don’t try to stop what or anything God wants to live!

  30. 16 And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

When you obey the Lord he will always make away for you to be blessed.

  31. 17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

  32. “Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.”
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭1:8-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Egypt is a type of the world or carnality. And the children of Israel are a type of Christians. Christians have no place in the world. Those that are full of carnality will never get along with Christ like people. There will always be a war between the two. This I feel, is a way of God getting them out of carnality and the world. I’m sure it was very hard for the children of Israel. I’m sure they had heartaches. But in the end it’s what needed to be done. If you were feeling like a War is raging against you. Then I challenge you to ask yourself the question, How is God going to get the glory in this situation? Instead of asking why is this happening to me? Attitude is everything.

  33. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
    Exodus 1:12 KJV

Your afflictions are not meat to destroy you. But rather to change you, to grow you to cause you to multiply in what you can do for the kingdom.

  34. 12 But the more they afflicted them , the more they multiplied and grew. WHEN GOD IS ON OUR SIDE NOTHING OR NO ONE CAN STAND AGAINST US.

  35. 10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

We are stronger in numbers. The enemy does everything it can to pull apart the kingdom army. Can we really grow and multiply the more and more affliction the enemy trys to pin on us? Are we not the children Israel?

  36. 11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

Jesus doesn’t like it when you are mean. Jesus wants us to be nice.

  37. Exodus 1:20,21 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God , that he made them houses.

Proverbs 11:18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

I Samuel 2:35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind : and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed forever.

Fear the Lord and obey Him!
    Seek First the Kingdom

  38. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
    Exodus 1:12 KJV

This should resemble our wall with God. No matter what the enemy throws our way, we continue to grow stronger through Jesus becuase He is our strength!

  39. 8Eventually, a new king came to power in Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph or what he had done.

With time all can be forgotten. How easy it is to forget something and you don’t realize it anymore. It’s easy to slip away from God if you don’t feed yourself spiritually. Eat the Word daily.
