Leviticus 5

And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity.

Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be a carcase of an unclean beast, or a carcase of unclean cattle, or the carcase of unclean creeping things, and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be unclean, and guilty.

Or if he touch the uncleanness of man, whatsoever uncleanness it be that a man shall be defiled withal, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty.

Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these.

And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing:

And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord for his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin.

And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the Lord; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.

And he shall bring them unto the priest, who shall offer that which is for the sin offering first, and wring off his head from his neck, but shall not divide it asunder:

And he shall sprinkle of the blood of the sin offering upon the side of the altar; and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar: it is a sin offering.

10 And he shall offer the second for a burnt offering, according to the manner: and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he hath sinned, and it shall be forgiven him.

11 But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put any frankincense thereon: for it is a sin offering.

12 Then shall he bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his handful of it, even a memorial thereof, and burn it on the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the Lord: it is a sin offering.

13 And the priest shall make an atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath sinned in one of these, and it shall be forgiven him: and the remnant shall be the priest’s, as a meat offering.

14 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

15 If a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the Lord; then he shall bring for his trespass unto the Lord a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering.

16 And he shall make amends for the harm that he hath done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him.

17 And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.

18 And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and wist it not, and it shall be forgiven him.

19 It is a trespass offering: he hath certainly trespassed against the Lord.

  1. 5 And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing:

6 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord for his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin.

The offender must confess his sin and bring his offering and the offering was not accepted unless it was accompanied with a penitential confession and a humble prayer for pardon. Observe, The confession must be particular, that he hath sinned in that thing; such was David’s confession (Psalms 51:4), I have done this evil; Thus and thus have I done. Deceit lies in generals; many will own in general they have sinned, for that all must own, so that it is not any particular reproach to them; but that they have sinned in this thing they stand too much upon their honour to acknowledge: but the way to be well assured of pardon, and to be well armed against sin for the future, is to be particular in our penitent confessions.

The priest must make atonement for him. As the atonement was not accepted without his repentance, so his repentance would not justify him without the atonement. Thus, in our reconciliation to God, Christ’s part and ours are both needful.

We must be very clear in our representation before God and man. We can not live holy and righteous on Sunday and live sinful the other six days of the week. Being honest and sincere when we make our atonement before God at our altar. We have to abide by the word of God and nothing less than our very best is required we can not allow the sacrifice be dictated by the world. Heed the word of God. Through obedience we will be blessed and atoned for our sins.

  2. 1 And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity.

Lord help us all!!! I am so convicted over this. Now, don’t take me wrong we don’t cuss and we don’t allow cussing in our home but work, schools, stores, everywhere we go we have heard it! Not intentionally but now that I have this knowledge I feel a need that I know I will be repenting every time I hear it from now on. Our God is so good that I know He knows is not for us, He knows that it is the world that surrounds us; but knowing what I just read it pricked my heart that even my ears are sinning without me knowing. Thank you Jesus for revealing this verse to me today! In Jesus Name Amen

  3. 1 And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity.

With the world the way it is now, is difficult since we hear it out in public. There isn’t much we can do about that other than offer them to come to our church and pray for them, and help then repent. Ofcourse we shall repent too since we heard it even tho it wasn’t intentional. Just pray to God to give us strength on our daily walk with God.

  4. Taking care of the lamb before offering

    Leviticus 5:7 KJV
[7] And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the Lord ; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.

    *Genesis 37:19 KJV
[19] And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.
[20] Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.
    Genesis 37:31-34 KJV
    [31] And they took Joseph’s coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;
32] And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son’s coat or no. [33] And he knew it, and said, It is my son’s coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.
34] And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.

Psalm 104: [4] Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

    Isaiah 46:10
    Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’;

    Revelation 22:13
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

    Revelation 22:14
Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city

  5. Leviticus 5
It is a guilt offering. 16 They must make restitution for what they have failed to do in regard to the holy things, pay an additional penalty of a fifth of its value and give it all to the priest. The priest will make atonement for them with the ram as a guilt offering, and they will be forgiven.

    Guilty or Not
Guilt carries a load of emotional baggage.
In a court of law one awaits to gets one if two words guilty as charged or innocent you are free to go.
So often the guilty go free and the innocent are charged. My mind goes back to Jesus Christ as He was exchanged for a criminal. Innocent blood shed by an angry group of people who had been stirred up by the crowd they were involved with. Peer pressure and the out roar of a mob of people. Yet Jesus gave Himself unreserved so that we could experience His grace we no longer have to carry the guilt and shame that is attached to sin. So many times the most difficulty of situations of moving forward is because of guilt and shame because of past mistakes. Oh but when the guilty come before Jesus Christ He says I’ve signed your pardon and you may go free. The cleansing and refreshing of Jesus Christ cannot be truly understood without the experience of it. A good conscience is what God wants us to have if you make a mistake if you have failed to be obedient to Gods commandments how beautiful to be accountable and say I’m guilty and can use some help not to continue in my disobedience.
See Satan and Self are the ones that bring condemnation not Jesus.
Yet because of Jesus Christ we can be set free. Don’t run from the altar run to it whether innocent or guilty .
If you live at the feet of Jesus the scars in His feet
are a great reminder that the past has been forgiven and the present can be the witness of guilty as charged but my future with hope because thru Jesus Guilty but paid in full by the blood of Jesus.
Oh what a reason to live according accountable and assured in His Commandments.

New Living Translation 1 John 2:1
My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.

  6. I want to make another comment about this same scripture.
Many times in a court of law even the bystander will also receive the same verdict. But they did not actually commit the crime. This is why it is so important who you surround yourself with. What are you surrounding yourself with . If it is a constant appetite of carnality how do you expect to be spiritual minded . I can usually tell by someone’s speech who they have been hanging with . They will use words they don’t normally use. Their attitude will take on the attributes of the other person . See the scripture here says innocent and guilty if you witnessed something and did not come forward .
they were guilty . But I don’t want to be a snitch most kids get this attitude because of the fear tactic used by those guilty . Or because they know they were not to be where they were and adults included .its time that we take a stand for self integrity and truth and just speaking up that someone is involved in something wrong could save their life naturally and spiritually. It takes courage to tell someone they are doing wrong yet it could save their life.

A story I heard about a pastor yes a pastor who had dealt with pornography for years. Something happened to the device he was using and it needed repairs. It ended up in the hands of a young man that attended this pastor’s church . The young man made the choice to meet with the pastor and share that he was the one who had done the repairs for him unknowingly he had recognized the name in the work order after his work had been finished. His approach to his own pastor with humility and kindness was the key to the healing of the pastor. What a true example of a love and an assurance that though the man he was following had made some mistakes. He came forward with kindness not knowing what the results would be . Love what more can be said . Thus young man took courage and never spoke a word against his leadership again love and respect accountability leads to right back to the feet of Jesus…..
“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:17)

  7. FIRST THE KINGDOM
    FIRST STEP TO RESTORATION

5 And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing:

Acknowledgment and Confession are the FIRST STEP TO RESTORATION. These two humbling actions are also the most challenging to the flesh of man. The pride of man would prefer to appear guiltless and conceal all sins. But the WORD of GOD says that we should confess and to confess we must acknowledge the sin.

    RESTORATION INITIATED

Psalms 32:5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

Luke 12:8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

David confessed and was forgiven. JESUS said to confess and HE would acknowledge in heavens.

Further evidence of CONFESSION to RESTORATION

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Philippians 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Every tongue shall eventually confess JESUS, we are wise to confess HIM now and that relationship will lead to willing CONFESSION of sins.

  8. 1 And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity.

We have a responsibility to each other that’s Brothers and sisters in Christ that help us grow. Every individual in the church needs to have an accountability partner. Someone that can reach out to them and talk to them in love should they be in the wrong about something . A lot of people are uncomfortable at the idea of being accountable I don’t like the idea of someone constantly watching their every move ready to correct them but if it is someone that we trust and love and we are open about it then we are much more likely to heal from whatever is causing the issues that we’re having. I don’t believe we should go around trying to correct one another but being accountable to at least one or two people and having the same service received is beneficial to the church in growth

  9. 17. If anyone commits a sin by violating the directives I have given you-even if he was unaware of it-once he realizes it, he bears the guilt and must still accept the consequences.
    The Voice

    Ignorantia juris non excusat
Latin for “ignorance of the law excuses not”

“…and Lord, forgive me for things I didn’t even realize were sin…”

  10. Leviticus 5

1 And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity.

2 Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be a carcase of an unclean beast, or a carcase of unclean cattle, or the carcase of unclean creeping things, and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be unclean, and guilty.

3 Or if he touch the uncleanness of man, whatsoever uncleanness it be that a man shall be defiled withal, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty.

  11. iLove the Kingdom
Lev 5:2 Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be a carcase of an unclean beast, or a carcase of unclean cattle, or the carcase of unclean creeping things, and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be unclean, and guilty.

God desires for us to be holy and not “touch” the unclean thing. The principle thing God was trying to establish is that he wants us to remain pure from the evil of this world. God never intended us to leave a soul on the side of the road because of the fear of becoming unclean. This is what happened with the parable of the good Samaritan. We are not to touch the unclean thing…but if we do…trying to help someone, we can have redemption through the blood.

  12. In Leviticus Chapter 5 verses 1-3 it’s talking about souls hearing the voices of Saying Bad Words and whether it’s a witness or not and then it’s talking about cattle and unclean beasts then it’s talking about a carcass of creeping things and you should not hide from them even if they look unclean or guilty then it’s talking about of any man being uncleaned and whatever man be unclean should be hid from

  13. 1 “If you are called to testify about something you have seen or that you know about, it is sinful to refuse to testify, and you will be punished for your sin.

Now we know where subpoena comes from. When the court orders you to come testify, it means you probably have information to share. One day, God will subpoena each of us to come and testify before him.

  14. When you became aware of your sin. You must come to repentance. You must ask and never go back. God will forgive for the past because you did not know. But you can’t live like you don’t know anymore. Turn from the wicked ways. And decide to be in the world or to be in the kingdom.

  15. 18 And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and wist it not, and it shall be forgiven him.

GOD wants us to bring a pure sacrifice. One without blemish. There have been times,Im sure, that my sacrifice to Him was not my best. When we seek after His Kingdom, we must make sure that our sacrifice to Him, whatever that is, must be without impurity. The best is for the Lord. He is worth of all. He is our Savior and redeemer. He is my love, my King, my everything.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God

  16. God always makes a way to cover us and help us out when we have sinned. So even if the Israelites couldn’t afford the full sacrifice God gave them payment plans.
Sin costs us a lot more than we ever anticipate. The consequences of sin are great and can affect us and those who share a life with for the entire course of our lives. Thankfully we have a God who loves us and was so heartbroken by the separation between us and him that sin causes that he paid the price at the heavy burden and eternal consequences that sin causes.

  17. 7 And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.

There is always a consequence to sin, even when repented of. People who think that they can live any old way and do anything they please, must be awakened to realize that if not on this earth, there will come a judgement day.

This is why we must repent of our sins now.

24Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after

  18. “But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put any frankincense thereon: for it is a sin offering.”
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭5:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When we sin we should not expect the anointing to cover or be in our sin. Frankincense was the oil that Jesus received as a child. It was also an oil used for anointing. While Jesus covers our sins, he does not bless them.

  19. Leviticus 5 : 17 [ Amp] If anyone sins and does any of the things the Lord has forbidden , through he was not aware of it, yet He is guilty and bear his iniquity. Let’s examine ourselves and repent and get back to God wear we belongs. Everything belongs to Jesus. I bless you in the name of Jesus.

  20. 5:17 and if a soul sin and commit any of these sins which are forbidden by any of the commandments off the Lord
Thou he wait it not, though he is guilty and shall bear his iniquity.
    ———-
… and shall bear his iniquity…
Thank you Jesus, for when you were sinless, you did it all for us, for humanity.
You took our iniquity and gave us a chance of life.
    Thank you Jesus .
    Thank you oh Lord
There is no more debt, you have set us free.
And we are free , Lord I need you. I need you now

  21. 1 And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity.

This is to remind us that we must be aware of what voices we are listening to… Lord, help me to keep my spirit right, AT ALL TIMES!

  22. And if he be not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring for his trespass, which he hath committed, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto the Lord ; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.
    Leviticus 5:7 KJV

If they didnt have the Turle doves God gave them another way, There isnt another way to Jesus, its Repent, Baptized in Jesus Name, Receive the Holy Ghost and that’s it!

    First the Kingdom
Repent, Baptized in Jesus Name, Holy Ghost…God is Good

  23. God is a God of order: He wants us at our best. If we sin against God of course there is going to be some kind of atonement. We are not to be in the ways of sin: I think this is where people get confused. Oh yeah, I was baptized I’m good. No you’re not; you can’t be baptized then jump into a worldly life. We are meant for more than this rock. God has called us to be above the ways of the world. Those ways will lead to death; the ways of God lead to everlasting life. Stand above the world; be set apart and show the world that there is better things than what is offered here. Thank you Jesus.

  24. 6 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord for his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin.

Pastor would never finish!!! Just my sin would keep him busy!!! I need you JESUS!!!

  25. Leviticus 5:5-6 (CEV)
    5) As soon as you discover that you have committed any of these sins, you must confess what you have done.
    6) Then you must bring a female sheep or goat to me as the price for your sin. A priest will sacrifice the animal, and you will be forgiven.

Today, when we recognize that we have sinned, we no longer have to bring an animal to be sacrificed by the priest. JESUS became the sacrifice for our sins Once for all (Heb. 10:10). We can go to an ALTAR and REPENT and be FORGIVEN. All we have to do is “CONFESS our sins, He is faithful and just to FORGIVE us our sins, and to CLEANSE us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9).

Thank You JESUS for Your Mercy!!!!!!!

  26. 15 If a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the Lord; then he shall bring for his trespass unto the Lord a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering.
The whole chapter God is giving you ways to repent, however we know we just have to open our mouths and take charge of what we have done. First thing is to repent with a repented heart so that we can turn away from the sin and temptation. I struggle daily with it since I work for an organization that’s all about politics, I have to learn to bite my tongue and turn away. I thank God for breaking the walls down and taking off the blindfold from my eyes. Victory in my life and my walk with God!

  27. Leviticus 5:1 And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, and he shall bear his iniquity.

Proverbs 29:24 Whoso is partner with a thief hated his own soul : he heareth cursing, and we bewrayeth it not. The fear of a man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth trust in the Lord shall be saved.

  28. 17 And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.

  29. 17 And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.

Even when we don’t realize we have screwed up, He makes provision

  30. Here we see the difference in a premeditated sin and and a accidental sin. The difference is like murder or killing. A premeditated is different than killing to defend yourself. God is not ignorant to the condition of you heart and your mind. Was is a misstep or was it a conscious decision.

  31. “When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin.
    Leviticus 5:5 NLT

You must confess your sin. It is the first steps to repentance, asking for forgiveness for the sin in your life. God is faithful and just to forgive.

  32. “Or suppose you unknowingly touch something that is ceremonially unclean, such as the carcass of an unclean animal. When you realize what you have done, you must admit your defilement and your guilt. This is true whether it is a wild animal, a domestic animal, or an animal that scurries along the ground.
    Leviticus 5:2 NLT

In order to be forgiven we must recognize and admit our wrong doing. The good thing is that we have repentance for this because of His ultimate sacrifice.

  33. 4 Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these.

    Wiser to be silent

I am guilty. And not that I don’t read his word or have devotion. It is just a lack of discipline. Even though there are things that I make a habit, I need to make this very thing a habit.

To be faithful in the small things. God help me to me faithful in the small things. It will only benefit me in the long run

  34. Verses 17-19 CEV “If you break any of my commands without meaning to, you are still guilty, and you can be punished. When you realize what you have done, you must either bring to the priest a ram that has nothing wrong with it or else pay him for one. The priest will then offer it as a sacrifice to make things right, and you will be forgiven.” Intentional or non-intentional, once you realize what you’ve done, you must confess your sin and repent. Numbers 32:23 AMP “But if you do not do this, behold, you will have sinned against the Lord; and be sure that your sin will find you out.”

  35. When you become aware of your guilt in any of these ways, you must confess your sin.
    ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Mistakes happen so thank God for His grace and mercy. Thank You Jesus for Your redeeming blood.

  36. 5 And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing:

As soon as we realize that we have sinned is the time to repent. God may through grace show us what we’ve done wrong through his word or he may bring it back to our remembrance-but either way, it’s time to repent. We must guard our hearts and minds because we live in a carnal world. But praise God he will help us and keep us as we journey through life to Him.
