Numbers 33

These are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron.

And Moses wrote their goings out according to their journeys by the commandment of the Lord: and these are their journeys according to their goings out.

And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.

For the Egyptians buried all their firstborn, which the Lord had smitten among them: upon their gods also the Lord executed judgments.

And the children of Israel removed from Rameses, and pitched in Succoth.

And they departed from Succoth, and pitched in Etham, which is in the edge of the wilderness.

And they removed from Etham, and turned again unto Pihahiroth, which is before Baalzephon: and they pitched before Migdol.

And they departed from before Pihahiroth, and passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness, and went three days’journey in the wilderness of Etham, and pitched in Marah.

And they removed from Marah, and came unto Elim: and in Elim were twelve fountains of water, and threescore and ten palm trees; and they pitched there.

10 And they removed from Elim, and encamped by the Red sea.

11 And they removed from the Red sea, and encamped in the wilderness of Sin.

12 And they took their journey out of the wilderness of Sin, and encamped in Dophkah.

13 And they departed from Dophkah, and encamped in Alush.

14 And they removed from Alush, and encamped at Rephidim, where was no water for the people to drink.

15 And they departed from Rephidim, and pitched in the wilderness of Sinai.

16 And they removed from the desert of Sinai, and pitched at Kibrothhattaavah.

17 And they departed from Kibrothhattaavah, and encamped at Hazeroth.

18 And they departed from Hazeroth, and pitched in Rithmah.

19 And they departed from Rithmah, and pitched at Rimmonparez.

20 And they departed from Rimmonparez, and pitched in Libnah.

21 And they removed from Libnah, and pitched at Rissah.

22 And they journeyed from Rissah, and pitched in Kehelathah.

23 And they went from Kehelathah, and pitched in mount Shapher.

24 And they removed from mount Shapher, and encamped in Haradah.

25 And they removed from Haradah, and pitched in Makheloth.

26 And they removed from Makheloth, and encamped at Tahath.

27 And they departed from Tahath, and pitched at Tarah.

28 And they removed from Tarah, and pitched in Mithcah.

29 And they went from Mithcah, and pitched in Hashmonah.

30 And they departed from Hashmonah, and encamped at Moseroth.

31 And they departed from Moseroth, and pitched in Benejaakan.

32 And they removed from Benejaakan, and encamped at Horhagidgad.

33 And they went from Horhagidgad, and pitched in Jotbathah.

34 And they removed from Jotbathah, and encamped at Ebronah.

35 And they departed from Ebronah, and encamped at Eziongaber.

36 And they removed from Eziongaber, and pitched in the wilderness of Zin, which is Kadesh.

37 And they removed from Kadesh, and pitched in mount Hor, in the edge of the land of Edom.

38 And Aaron the priest went up into mount Hor at the commandment of the Lord, and died there, in the fortieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the first day of the fifth month.

39 And Aaron was an hundred and twenty and three years old when he died in mount Hor.

40 And king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south in the land of Canaan, heard of the coming of the children of Israel.

41 And they departed from mount Hor, and pitched in Zalmonah.

42 And they departed from Zalmonah, and pitched in Punon.

43 And they departed from Punon, and pitched in Oboth.

44 And they departed from Oboth, and pitched in Ijeabarim, in the border of Moab.

45 And they departed from Iim, and pitched in Dibongad.

46 And they removed from Dibongad, and encamped in Almondiblathaim.

47 And they removed from Almondiblathaim, and pitched in the mountains of Abarim, before Nebo.

48 And they departed from the mountains of Abarim, and pitched in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.

49 And they pitched by Jordan, from Bethjesimoth even unto Abelshittim in the plains of Moab.

50 And the Lord spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

51 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

52 Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:

53 And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it.

54 And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man’s inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit.

55 But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

56 Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.

  1. This chapter gives details of the journey from Egypt to Canaan. There are many places mentioned but none as important as the wilderness of sin and Canaan. God gave the commandments and if not obeyed the children of Israel would have the wrath of God. They were give direct instructions and they either followed or were dealt with.

Isn’t funny how many will have the directions to their blessings and their rewards, but due to stubbornness and arrogance of wanting to do things their way, usually costs them the prize in the end. So many times people lose what has been promised because of disobedience. We have to learn, love, and live the word of God and be obedient to his voice. We have the greatest opportunity that the church has ever seen. We are on the brink of an unrestricted revival and we have to be ready for what God is going to give us. We have to live Jesus to be like him and to be like him is to give Jesus to those that need him. We have to open our eyes and our hears to hear and see what is just in front of us. Opportunity is knocking for us to open. Let’s be obedient.

  2. Verses 55-56 MSG “But if you don’t drive out the native population, everyone you let stay there will become a cinder in your eye and a splinter in your foot. They’ll give you endless trouble right in your own backyards. And I’ll start treating you the way I planned to treat them.” Same verses CEV “If you don’t force out all the people there, they will be like pointed sticks in your eyes and thorns in your back. They will always be trouble for you, and I will treat you as cruelly as I planned on treating them.” This is like removing a little bit of sin out of your life. It doesn’t work that way. We must drive out, slam the door shut and stay away from sin; otherwise, it will keep troubling you and try to draw you back. LIVE-GIVE JESUS!

  3. …for I have given you the land to possess it.
    Numbers 33:53 KJV
It may be a journey to get us to the promise land. But it is ours! Not to see it from afar, but to obtain it. Pure obedience will allow POFW to take our cities for the KINGDOM of GOD. Stay focused. Don’t look to the right or the left. Trust the Lord!
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
    John 14:1‭-‬3 KJV

  4. A long journey because of disobedience and complaining. Things would of been so different if those 10 spies would of come back praising and shouting instead than with a negative report.

55 But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

This verse still in effect today, all you have to do is read the news. They have been pricks in their lives ever since because they did not clear all of them out! Beware what thorns you are living with that you have t weed it out. One thing is for you to shine your light in others life but when their darkness is turning off your life is time to weed the garden! Thank you Jesus for your report says VICTORY!!!

50 And the Lord spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,
    51 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;
52 Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:

The LORD gave a strong message through Moses to Israel. ZERO TOLERANCE was the expectation of the LORD for this new land. There were idols and idolatry that affected the people. GOD is jealous and will not share his Glory with another.

We must FIRST examine ourselves to ensure that we have cleaned out our LIFE of all idols and idolatry. We must prayerfully approach LIFE to ensure we give no place to the devil.

Also, we must repent and take authority over every spirit that does not Glorify GOD. Every action, habit, thought, desire or image. This command GOD gives HIS people that we may gain the VICTORY. We MUST do it. We must choose it.

Eph. 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.

Put away lying, deceiving, gossiping, evil thoughts, selfish pride and all that associate with pride and sin.

1 Samuel 15:22-22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

56 Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them

Sin and disobedience will take you further than you ever intended to go!

  9. Numbers 33
55 “‘But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live. 56 And then I will do to you what I plan to do to them.’”

The travels of the Israelites took them to many places. Customs and worship of false gods were all around them. When they arrived to the promise land they still had to be cautious at what was around them. Ridding the land of anything that would cause them to sin against God. Many will come to find God but if they do not Gid their self of the things of this world separate from old habits and even friends and will be a stumble lick for them. Many people I have encountered when I ask what their success is in being free from addictions or a lifestyle that has taken them down a road of sin ;the first comment is @you have to change your friends . Leave them remove them from their life. We first the church must be careful not to allow anything or anyone to influence us towards the world . It can be a snare a trap…second we must be mindful of those coming into the Kingdom. If they are wanting new friends because they are wanting to separate from their old life we cannot be afraid to welcome them . Look around who can you help who can you lead who needs a new friend to know how to journey into the Promise Land When I was a teen we would be the ones to influence the others. We would lead by example and explain why there were certain things we chose not to do. For some reason things flipped in society for some they became influenced by false gods . It’s time we rise up and be bold inflicting those around us gladly explain gladly encouraging. Yes people are coming with heavy sins we can help rid the things of this world . We canLive Jesus ! We can Give Jesus ….. Ridding ourself of anything that wants to set up house in our hearts that is sinful will allow us to assist others in ridding the inhabitants of their hearts….there is a reason to pray there is a reason to read the word daily it’s time to take over the land over Fort Worth for Jesus!! Ridding sin from this city …..There are people from other denominations making profound declarations that there is going to be a great revival in this city . The enemy will be defeated lives will be changed ! In Jesus Name.

Endurance Consistently making the journey to what God has promised !

    International Version
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

  10. 1 These are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron.

They say not to reflect on the past because it’s behind us but there’s obviously a purpose for remembering the things that you’ve been through. In some ways your past is just as important as your future. Looking at what you’ve been delivered from in the past and what you came out of can often cause you too have a breakthrough out of your situation. It can also help you reflect on the lessons that you learned from the situations. Look at the past at the journey’s that led you to where you are today can often remind you of the god that you serve now and in the future.

  11. Thank you Jesus for today, thy kingdom come thy will be done – “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel: When you cross the Jordan River into the land of Canaan, you must drive out all the people living there. You must destroy all their carved and molten images and demolish all their pagan shrines.
    Numbers 33:51‭-‬52 NLT

You shall serve no other God before Jesus , Lord Jesus is the king’s of king’s . He says what goes

  12. 1This is the route the Israelites followed as they marched out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses and Aaron. 2At the LORD’s direction, Moses kept a written record of their progress. These are the stages of their march, identified by the different places where they stopped along the way.

An example of record keeping the bible. Yes, its important to maintain records and keep them accurate. They detail the process and history of any business and transactions made. Spiritually we should keep track of our prayer and blogging, and our serving in the kingdom.

  13. 55 But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.
56 Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.
Seperation from what we know it’s not God’s standards is a must! It will cause sin in our lives and it will always bring out the consequences of disobedience to what the Lord commands. Our flesh might be weak but we must pray and bring it to obedience. I pray we all can pull and pluck out all that causes sin to our lives and fill it with God’s joy.

  14. Numbers 33: 52 [ Amp] Then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you and destory all their figured stones and all their molten images and completely demolished all their ( idolatrous) high places. We should get rid of all of our sins ! And live the best life with Jesus. Praises and Glory and Honer to our King of Kings and the Lord of Lord’s.

  15. iLove Jesus

Num 33:4 For the Egyptians buried all their firstborn, which the LORD had smitten among them: upon their gods also the LORD executed judgments.

The key to the types and reasons of plagues that occurred in Egypt is found in the above verse. For example, why did God use flies in one plague and frogs in the next. The truth is that God was “punishing” all of the deities the Egyptians worshipped thereby proving that God was Lord over all. One day I would like to study each plague and match it up with each Egyptian god.

  16. 55 But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

Destroying those vices I. Our lives that has ahold on us is necessary to live victoriously. If we allow them to hang around they maybe one a temptation to return to that temptation.

We must Search and destroy those things through prayer before they destroy us.

  17. 33:53 and ye shall dispossessed the inhabitants of the land
And dwell therein , for I have given you the land to possess it.
    —-
    Hallelujah!!!!! Keep focus
Seek God, seek Him with all your heart
Fall in love with His word, meditate on it…
For all the things he has said,( promised) to his children , they will come to pass. If we do these things.
I SHALL SEE THE GOODNESS OF GOD, IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING.

  18. 52. Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:

    53. And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it.

To the north we cry out
To the south we will shout
    The enemy and his kingdom
    Must come down

    To the east we profess
    To the west we confess
    The enemy and his kingdom
    Must come down

    We cannot be silent
    We cannot sit by
    We must take this city
For the cause of Jesus Christ

    We are bold
    We are strong
We are ready to march on
    Through Christ
    We will take this city

  19. Numbers 33:52 & 55
    52) Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:

    55) But if ye will not drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you: then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

When we become a christian, it’s hard sometimes for our families and friends to understand why we’ve changed, why we don’t go to the same places, or do the same things we used to, or act the way we used to act, etc… “Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot,…” (1 Peter 4:4).
But when we become a christian, it’s good for us to break off our ties with some people (whether it be family or friend), because if we don’t, they will become pricks in our eyes and thorns in our side, until they have drawn us back into the same old way we used to live.

    Stay Strong! LIVE GIVE JESUS!!

  20. 1 These are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron.

the children of Israel went out of Egypt to Canaan in 40 years and for all 40 years they were protected by the hand of god.

    This land is our land
We gotta drive out and rebuke all spiritual wickedness we come in contact with here in the region of Fort Worth. We can’t just settle for a fraction of the lost here but we have to reach all that are lost

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

  22. 52 Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:
53 And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it.

The Lord intends for us to have complete victory by destroying everything and anything that could keep us from fully serving Him and receiving His promises.

  23. 52 Then he shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:
53 And he shall dispossessed the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein : for I have given you the land to possess it.

We need to leave our sinful past and watch who we associate with. There are so many people that are in the world, watch out wolf’s in sheep’s clothing!

  24. 11 And they removed from the Red sea, and encamped in the wilderness of Sin.

When you find yourself in sin it is a wilderness far from the provisions and protection of God.

  25. 55 But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

56 Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.

Do you have itchy red eyes, do they feel all prickly? Do you have sharp pains in your sides and feel like your whole life is a curse? Then maybe you need a little dose of “Grace” its this wonderful thing that is obtained by faith and is already paid for by his blood. Stop living in sin and overtake it, burn it away and never look back because by his blood we are forgiven and by his blood we can overcome and conquer it. Don’t hold yourself back, take his charge and go into battle.

  26. 55 But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.
56 Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.

It’s not about being ugly, but rather about removing any stumbling blocks.

As a young man I heard a sermon titled “Show me your Friends, I’ll Show you Your Future.” When we fail to become separated from this world, we allow a foothold that will be an entry back to the people we were before We got into church.

  27. 50 And the Lord spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

    51 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

52 Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:

53 And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it.

Not without a fight, you must take action in the promise.

This really left me thinking. Why? Well they have received their promise. It clearly says “for I have given you the land to possess it” yet there is some work and fight to do. One would think if you are giving me something then I just take it no? I mean that’s what my mind immediately thought of. However we tend to value more what we fight and work for. For then we know the price it cost. We understand the worth of its value. Now victory was guaranteed for God was with them. If God is for you and he is saying go take action all you have to do is obey. It’s not that he is bad Father to his children but I believe he was teaching them to value. Its theirs. No one will take it from. Just go and posses what he has. Take the enemies out of your territory, take down the high places, destroy the molten images and their pictures and drive out the people. And it’s yours. Its gonna cost you some work but the victory and reaping of blessing is yours guaranteed.

Its kinda like saying my old classic mustang is your son, you just have to fix the radiator, and install the new transmission that was never put on and give it a good clean and buff and after I’m giving you the title.

One will take more pride and value on what you worked for but you know it’s your heavenly father giving it to you.

He will give you that dream job but with an entry level position and you have to be a good steward and be diligent about your business and you will stand before kinds and not mean men and you will bet to get that promotion.

He will lead you to the place. But you have to take action in the promise. You have believe Him for it, now go and act, work, take, do, it because faith without works is dead. You want to be a missionary to the nations, go teach that bible study. You want to write songs for the glory of God that will transform people’s lives start recording that thought.

The promise is yours but its not being handed down on a silver platter go on and get. He said you will. And if he said then you will!!

  28. “You must distribute the land among the clans by sacred lot and in proportion to their size. A larger portion of land will be allotted to each of the larger clans, and a smaller portion will be allotted to each of the smaller clans. The decision of the sacred lot is final. In this way, the portions of land will be divided among your ancestral tribes. But if you fail to drive out the people who live in the land, those who remain will be like splinters in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will harass you in the land where you live. And I will do to you what I had planned to do to them.””
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭33:54-56‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God’s intent was not only to bring judgment on the corrupt culture of the Canaanites, but also to give the land to Israel to possess.

  29. 53 And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it.

  30. But if you fail to drive out the people who live in the land, those who remain will be like splinters in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will harass you in the land where you live. And I will do to you what I had planned to do to them.”

We cannot afford to try to co-exist or live in peace with idolatry.

  31. 51 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

They traveled and traveled and eventually they came to the places they were called to inhabit yet the work was not done. They would have to drive out all that previously dwelled there. Leaving nothing behind that would later cause problems. The Lord warned that if something pops up later He would give His children the wrath that he originally planned for them.

It is better the deal with things the very first time than to allow it to grow entangled into our lives making it harder to get rid of.

  32. 52 Then he shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:
53 And he shall dispossessed the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein : for I have given you the land to possess it.

His plans are perfect! We couldn’t top His plans if we tried, but still we tend to try and do things our way and with our own strength.
Lord help up stay in your plan!

  33. And they removed from Etham, and turned again unto Pihahiroth, which is before Baalzephon: and they pitched before Migdol.

8 And they departed from before Pihahiroth, and passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness, and went three days’journey in the wilderness of Etham, and pitched in Marah.

9 And they removed from Marah, and came unto Elim: and in Elim were twelve fountains of water, and threescore and ten palm trees; and they pitched there.

10 And they removed from Elim, and encamped by the Red sea.

11 And they removed from the Red sea, and encamped in the wilderness of Sin.

12 And they took their journey out of the wilderness of Sin, and encamped in Dophkah.

  34. 55 But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

56 Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them

We know that they do not drive out all the inhabitants and were deceived into making an alliance with one tribe of people and it does become a stumbling block to Israel. But God’s word is true and they didnt keep his word foremost in their mind. Satan works the same way today, he is the deciever and if we dont know and keep God’s word foremost in our hearts and minds, we too will fall prey to his deception.

  35. In this chapter they moved and moved and moved and moved. Getting to their promise land was not quite what they expected. Sometimes there are MANY series of smaller moves to get to that one big goal. There are ups and downs on the way, but just keep going in the will of God and you will get there.
