Judges 2

And an angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.

And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?

Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

And it came to pass, when the angel of the Lord spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the Lord.

And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.

And the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the Lord, that he did for Israel.

And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathheres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.

10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim:

12 And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the Lord to anger.

13 And they forsook the Lord, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

14 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

15 Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord had said, and as the Lord had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

16 Nevertheless the Lord raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.

17 And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the Lord; but they did not so.

18 And when the Lord raised them up judges, then the Lord was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the Lord because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.

19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

20 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;

21 I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:

22 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the Lord to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.

23 Therefore the Lord left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.

  1. 18 And when the Lord raised them up judges, then the Lord was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the Lord because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.

19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

    20 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;

It says it repented the Lord when the began murmuring and complaining. They knew the commandments of the Lord but yet still wanted to follow the flesh. They knew it would send them to hell but they felt Oppressed. You wanna upset God and be cast into the hands of your enemy start disagreeing with the man of God. It obviously isn’t pleasing to the Lord when the people start complaining about the word of the Lord. We have to become radically submitted. We have to submit and just obey the word.

  2. Verse 10 MSG “Eventually that entire generation died and was buried. Then another generation grew up that didn’t know anything of God or the work he had done for Israel.” This made my heart break as this whole new generation didn’t know anything of God. This shows how we cannot allow to live along side sin or try to hide it or keep it around. The very thing that they should have driven out earlier, is now taking over and influencing the next generation. We must fight and fully drive out the enemy. Our lives must be testimonies, our victories must be spoken and memorials should stand as reminders to future generations, as we LIVE-GIVE JESUS.

  3. 11And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim: 12And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.

Without great leadership, chaos ensued. The Israelites distinctly disobeyed the word of God. They turned away from God and served other Gods. When you have been given a commandment and disobedience follows, there is nothing that will keep you from being enslaved from your enemies. We as a child of God, we have to have great discipline to move forward without losing our promises. Just because you may feel that you don’t have that leadership over you to speak in your life, sometimes we have to be quiet long enough to hear that voice.

Allow God to do what he wants to do and follow his word and I know the promises of God will always be the end result. Let the man of God voice ring in your ears to guide you and we
Must not resent the author that God has placed over us.

  4. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim:

Parents make sure you keep reminding your children for future generations to come, Where he brought you from. Let it be a constant reminder Because if he Brought the parents out he will bring Sons and daughters out to.

  5. 10. And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
    11. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim:
    14. And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
    15. Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord had said, and as the Lord had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

How much grief could have been avoided, and how many lives could have been saved, if only that generation had made sure the next generation knew the Lord and the works He had done for Israel?
This world and their gods aren’t going to make sure our children serve God and know what He can do and has done.
“If it is to be, it is up to me”

  6. Good morning thank you Jesus for another day, when we listen then follow through with God then there’s victory. If we disobey then we fall

For your part, you were not to make any covenants with the people living in this land; instead, you were to destroy their altars. But you disobeyed my command. Why did you do this? So now I declare that I will no longer drive out the people living in your land. They will be thorns in your sides, and their gods will be a constant temptation to you.” After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel.
    Judges 2:2‭-‬3‭, ‬10 NLT

  7. Judges 2:10 [Amp] And also all that generation were gathered to their fathers, and there arose another generation after them who did not know recognize, understand) the Lord, or even the work which He had done for Israel.
We need to tell every child about the Goodness of the Lord. Living our lives should be a testimony for the world to see and hear. Lord bless all the children and their families. With the Word of the Lord in their hearts and minds in Jesus name.
Prov 22: 6 ] Train up a child in the way he should go
[ And in keeping with his individual gift or bent]. And when he is old he will not depart from it
Ephesians 5:4 [Amp] Father ‘s do not irritate and provoke your children to anger [ do not exasperated them to resentment] , but rearthem [ tenderly] in the training and discipline and the counsel and adomonition of the Lord.
We don’t know what is going is there lives today , Only God knows . But can be there to love them and pray them. To teach to best of our knowledge.
Thank you Jesus , I will worship you and give you praise at all times. You can used me Lord!

  8. Israel rebelled against God and turned to other “gods”. These “gods” were useless and they didn’t do anything they forgot about the one true God. JESUS . Let us never forget who brought you out of our mess. Only JESUS can turn us around . Don’t worship any other gods. Don’t turn away from JESUS

  9. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

Last night’s message rings in my head – did you fight for me? Somewhere between these generations, the paton fell. Somewhere, somehow, the people lacked in teaching the next generation. This is evident because it says another generation rose who “knew not” the Lord. It doesn’t say they rebelled, it doesn’t say they rejected, but they “knew not.” It’s our job to fight for future generations (i.e. teach them and lead them) and keep this faith alive!

  10. Judges 2:8 & 10
    8) And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

    10) And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

The first thing that came to my mind when I read these scriptures was “A Lost Generation – another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done.” Somewhere along the line, someone STOPPED Talking, STOPPED Testifying, STOPPED Teaching about the Word of God, His Power, His Great Acts, His Deliverance, etc…

We are reminded in Deut. 6:6-9 and in Deut. 11:18-20 what the LORD told them. (these scriptures say the same thing). The WORD was to be in their heart and soul. They were to bind them for a sign upon their hand, and they would be frontlets between their eyes. They were to TEACH them to their children – when they sat at home, when they walked by the way, when they lied down, and when they rose up. They were to be written upon the door posts of their homes and upon their gates.

First, we have to know what the Word of the Lord says for ourselves, and we have to hide it in our heart and soul. We have to Live by it.
Second, it’s the duty of all parents to TEACH their children in the home about GOD, His Word, His Power, His Great Acts, His Deliverance, His Saving Grace, etc…
Third, then it’s my duty, as a Sunday School Teacher, to TEACH the children all these things about GOD. (HALLELUJAH! The Kingdom Cadet class has 2 children who want to be Baptized in JESUS Name).
So that NO GENERATION IS LOST!

We can’t STOP POFW from TELLING, from TESTIFYING, from TEACHING others about GOD and His Word, His Power, His Great Acts, His Deliverance, His Saving Grace, etc… We have to “GO” so “No Generation Is Lost” in the city of Fort Worth.
There is Unrestricted Revival and Surprise Harvest waiting for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

This is why it is so very important that we teach our children about God. That we tell them about all the miracles He has done in our lives. That we remind them of His promises and His love!!!
Deu 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

  12. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

It’s a dangerous thing to be a part of a generation that who does not know the Lord. To know God is to know his power, to know his word. Our goal should always be to strive to do what is right. Don’t try to please others, but rather focus on pleasing God.

  13. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

What are we teaching the next generation?

It is the “knew not” that bothers me. They weren’t disobedient, their parents just failed to teach them of the power and presence of the Lord.

The new generation had no personal relationship with God. God was someone who their parents related to and who did great things for their parent’s generation.

As the elders pass down the mantle to us, it is our responsibility to then, pass it to the next generation.

  14. 16 Nevertheless the Lord raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.
17 And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the Lord; but they did not so.

A perpetual cycle that continues every time they are disobedient. I can almost imagine the Lord in his father like ways getting frustrated that his children are not doing what he told them to do but then rescuing them because it’s his natural response to take care of his children. Much like a father having to disappoint his child for doing something they were told originally not to do multiple times but yet needing help getting out of the trouble they just got themselves in. It is our response bc of the love for our children, that we I want to rescue and help them despite the trouble they get themselves into constantly. I believe it’s a character trait that we pick up from our God… May God continue to have mercy over our minds and over our hearts everyday

  15. “This made the Lord burn with anger against Israel, so he handed them over to raiders who stole their possessions. He turned them over to their enemies all around, and they were no longer able to resist them. Every time Israel went out to battle, the Lord fought against them, causing them to be defeated, just as he had warned. And the people were in great distress.”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭2:14-15‬ ‭NLT

We should see this as a manifestation of God’s love for Israel instead of His hate. The worst judgment God can bring upon us is to leave us alone, to stop trying to bring us to repentance.

  16. It is very important to stay in the will of God. It is very important to teach our children about living for God. Vitally important for others to see you as an example and benefiting from your walk with God, this opens the door for a soul to be saved. Live Jesus, give Jesus!

    A NATIONS GREATEST DANGER

10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim:
12 And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the Lord to anger.
13 And they forsook the Lord, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

This passage reveals several principals for us to consider and the reason the Apostolic church must be Evangelistic in this generation.

    1. Joshua did not prepare a successor to lead Israel in following the LORD.
    2. Fathers failed to teach their children the ways of GOD, with fear (reverence and respect) of the LORD.
    3. The church is ONE generation away from losing the FAVOR of GOD.
    4. Idolatry is a real and present temptation.
    5. Following man only and never KNOWING GOD will lead to falling away when the Leader is gone.
    6. The curse of Egypt (ignorance of Joseph) is now the curse of Israel (ignorance of GOD).
    7. We must continue to to teach and testify of all the wonderful works of GOD.

America needs REVIVAL. The Church must become a Soul Saving Station.

  18. 18-19 When God was setting up judges for them, he would be right there with the judge: He would save them from their enemies’ oppression as long as the judge was alive, for God was moved to compassion when he heard their groaning because of those who afflicted and beat them. But when the judge died, the people went right back to their old ways—but even worse than their parents!—running after other gods, serving and worshiping them. Stubborn as mules, they didn’t drop a single evil practice.

20-22 And God’s anger blazed against Israel. He said, “Because these people have thrown out my covenant that I commanded their parents and haven’t listened to me, I’m not driving out one more person from the nations that Joshua left behind when he died. I’ll use them to test Israel and see whether they stay on God’s road and walk down it as their parents did.”

22 I will use them to test Israel and see whether they will keep the way of the Lord and walk in it as their ancestors did .

We must continue to pour into our families the word of God . We must live it and give it. We must realize that it must be instilled in their hearts. God removed the judges because he had compassion. One translation says. He then us ready to test them to see if they have learned or kept what had been placed in their life . Yet they failed they went fight back into idolatry and promiscuous living. We must serve the Lord for ourself. Hold to the promises and what you know. Keep the commandments of the Lord . We have to know how to survive spiritually when there is no one else around serving God. Tests are going to come and you will either pass it or fail it. Love God with all of your heart . People can fail. Leaders will die but you can live serving God . I don’t know how to even express the desperation in my heart to people I see living to close to the world or completely straying because of someone dying . We have got to become mature Christians to be able to seek God read the word of God in our own. Teach and teach others not just because someone is checking upon you to see you are doing it. For when they are removed where will you find yourself . Testing Time! Now what will you choose to do . If you serve God really serve Him you will do it with gladness and in your on whether someone is watching you or not . Serve the Lord with gladness read His word. take time for personal spiritual growth so when it is your testing time you can pass and be glad that you did. God is looking for those who will serve Him without force or mad at Ed reasons …….it’s just about loving God and His ways….

  19. iLove the Lord Jesus
10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim:I hate to beat a dead horse y’all, but I reckon I outta beat some more dirt on his grave. Ya’ll reckon if someone would have actually stepped up in Joshua’s place and leadership would have been transferred this would have happened? I gotta invest more nuggets of truth and leadership into that young whippersnapper young lad of mine and make sure that lil feller is ready to lead this next generation lest we follow this example of what happens when Joshua died. No one to take his place.

I reckon with the invention of them there electric lights we have extended our days far beyond what God intended for us. Back in the days on the Ranch, when the sun went down, dem there youguns would head on back in the house and fellership with their maw and paw and share Jesus. I had a mental vision the other day that me and the lil feller would sit with the Bible at the kitchen table with open Bibles underlining the scriptures together… Shine Jesus Shine and help us find time to invest into the future generation…

  20. Judges 2:11-15

    IDOLATRY AND GOD’S ANGER

The children of Israel did evil by forsaking the LORD God and turning their love to Baal and Ashtaroth, the gods of the people that lived around them. The anger of the LORD came against Israel. They could no longer stand against their enemies, as the LORD warned them would happen. They were greatly distressed, and understandably so.

Any time you go against God’s word, evil will befall you. Stay in harmony with God’s word!

    Hallelujah!!

All praises and honor to the Lord God Most High!!!

  21. 2:19 and it came to pass when the judge was dead
That they returned and corrupt themselves even more
Than their fathers in following other gods to serve them and to bow down unto them they sis not from their own doings…..
    —-
As long as they had a spiritual head leading them they were fine . The judge dies, they pull whatever they wanted….
    🤔!!!!!
The God of Israel is always watching, is there anyone that can hide and get away with their wrong doings?
    Not for long….
I want that covering, I want that man of God. I want to grow and live a righteous life. Starting at home.

  22. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

Wow what responsibility we have as a generation to ensure that we pass down the foundation of truth that we believe. Telling those that come after us what we have seen, what we have heard, and what we believe. If we don’t share this who will? Will their blood be on hands if we don’t equip them with the tools and faith to live for God and be in covenant with him?

Thought provoking questions. Nothing is ever just about us. People are watching: backsliders, friends, family, neighbors everything we do should point people to truth.

  23. 17 And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the Lord; but they did not so.

It was alarming to read how quickly they turned, made me question what was missing in the foundation that they could so quickly turn from the ways of their fathers.

I’m reminding of the song lyrics, “Be careful little feet where you go
For it’s the little feet behind you that are sure to follow”. That we need to have a strong foundation not only for ourselves but for those who we are leading and impacting by our everyday choices.

  24. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

This is a prime reason why we should teach the children when they are young about Jesus, so that they may not stray from their covering. They/we are the next generation and with that comes a certain amount of responsibility. Once Joshua and all the elders had passed away so has the torch. So they need someone to pick up the mantle. The trouble is that they have a thorn in their side since they didn’t destroy the altars of pagan worship. They would have to resist the temptation to serve other gods. Sadly, they have forgotten who their one true God was. This angers God and makes them his enemies. Leaving his covering makes them subject His judgment. It’s a dangerous place. We need to keep ourselves out of that position and help others stay in line with God.

  25. 1 And an angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.

Whenever God makes a promise he will always keep his word no matter what situation happens in our lives and the enemy will always try to make us think that the promises of the lord will fade away but like his word it last until the end of time and more.

  26. 1 And an angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.
Breaking your covenant to the Lord is like breaking a promise, you made a promise that you would follow him in everything.

10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
Our new generation is dangerous, it isn’t filled with the love and word of our Lord, there are so many people needing saving and and so many lost. We need to help our generation

  27. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim:
A lost generation… after all the wonders and miracles God had shown the people of Israel. Somehow it all got forgotten and untold! Now here’s a generation that has no relationship with God whatsoever. Who are lost and worshiping powerless gods. Let this be a eye opener for parents and all of us, to teach our coming generation of the greatnesses of God! Soul saving begins at home with YOUR our children. Let us stand united and teach this generation, what a mighty God we serve.

  28. Judges 2:6-14

Jesus said that this was the first and greatest commandment, “and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. He also said, “And these words which I command you shall be upon your heart and you shall teach them diligently to your children.”
This is the first assignment we have as parents, loving God is to store God’s Word in his heart and teach it to our children. I understand that at times it’s not easy for some us considering how we were raised. But we are no longer able to use that as an excuse because God has given us the ability to change those ways for ourselves and for our future. Just like last night’s precious word, “DID YOU FIGHT FOR ME”? Have we fought for them? It’s never too late no matter how old they are if they are still alive it’s never too late to reach out. Bottom line this is God’s will for our families, that they be preserved and that we as parents assume primary responsibility under God for getting the bible knowledge into our children’s hearts and head.

  29. Judges 2:16 Nevertheless the Lord raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.

Acts 13:20 And after that he gave them to them judges about space and 450 years until Samuel the prophet.

Psalm 106:43-45Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their
Iniquity. Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry : And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

    Thank God for His mercy!

  31. 11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim:

12 And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the Lord to anger.

13 And they forsook the Lord, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

When I read this I thought how can you worship a God that never has done anything for you more than you do a God that has brought you to where you dwell and has done so much for you and I thought how we can sometimes give more time to things that don’t matter than the one we live and move and have our being in. Jesus I want to give you more effort and time than anything else today, and tomorrow, and as long as I live.

  32. “The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim and said to the Israelites, “I brought you out of Egypt into this land that I swore to give your ancestors, and I said I would never break my covenant with you.”(‭‭Judges‬ ‭2:1NLT)

When the Lord promises something to his people he keeps his word and never goes back on his word. The Lord never changes his mind for God will always stay true to his word for he is faithful and righteous.

  33. Moses was sitting here, reading Judges with us, he would just shake his head. And Joshua would pull his hair out. At one level, the book of Judges should never have been written. It’s existence shows us human stupidity and sin. It is a testament to human stubbornness. It demonstrates how persistently evil men and women are. They pursue their own destruction. It shows God’s people in a suicidal spiral into sin in worse and worse degrees. It shows how dangerous it is to forget our history.

History is the way a community remembers its past. History is our community seeking to remember. In a way, it is an inoculation against communal Alzheimers. We have history departments at school and university because our community needs to remember. ‘Lest We Forget’. So we teach our young people. And all of us have little yearly checkups. They are called Anzac Day and Australia Day. That is the minimum we want people to remember. Hence, the Ode to the Fallen. “We will remember them” That’s why, for different reasons, we can be thankful that we still have Christmas and Easter.

History is our community saying, ‘Where did I come from? Why is our society, our community, the way it is? What shaped me and my society? Why do I think this way, do these things, value these things?’

So history is not about the past. It is about the present. The reason you write history is for the present. Otherwise, you wouldn’t want to write new history books. Surely the old ones would be good enough? You might even say, they would be better. They were written closer to the event, perhaps within living memory.

History is about the present. It is about re-appropriating the past for the present. History is a younger generation looking back. We look back to the years before we were so that we can understand ourselves.

  34. Yet they did not listen to their judges, for they played the prostitute after other gods and they bowed down to them. They quickly turned aside from the way in which their fathers had walked in obeying the commandments of the Lord ; they did not do as their fathers.
    Judges 2:17 AMP

Saddened by all whom left the way of the LORD! But just yesterday I was determined to teach our Sunday school class how important it is to get back to our roots. The foundation of our apostolic doctrine. If we don’t teach them what is truth, they will believe a lie.

Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
    Proverbs 22:6 AMP

  35. “Every time Israel went out to battle, the Lord fought against them, causing them to be defeated, just as he had warned. And the people were in great distress.”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This Scripture means that, If you disobey The Lord. He will bring Great Judgement against his people If we disobey. But If we obey him He will shower blessings on his people If we obey.

  36. And the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the Lord, that he did for Israel.

You have to have a relationship with God for your self. You can’t go off of your fathers relationship or your grandparents relationship with God you can only go to heaven with your relationship you have

  37. 14 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

When we disobey God and worshiping other gods we will have fallen and not be over our enemies

  38. God had helped and guided Israel and told them not to go to other God’s but again they went against our Lord and worshipped other God’s. Judgment went against Israel. When Israelites followed our Lord blessings were given to them. We should remember what transpires when we trust in our Lord and what can happen when you walk away from God.

  39. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim:

The generation that doesn’t know God will turn to corrupt ways and violate the covenant of God. My heart is so seat on giving all I can to this generation and challenging them go step up and know God and live for Him that they may give Him to others.

It’s so hard because often I fight for them in ways they find no importance to fight for themselves. The lack the importance of the why. Yet, I will continue to challenge them with ”why not” why not try Jesus because He is all we need.

  40. “After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel.”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

‭‭‬‬In this scripture God will be our counselor and will lead us to righteousness path, but when we ignore God. We start to go back to the life of unholiness and start to idolize worldly things that are not pleasant to the Lord. When we repeatedly do this, it is harder for us to give up the lifestyle of sin. Therefore, we loose our own personal blessings, miracles and promises that God has appointed onto us. In today’s lifestyle people are now lacking the knowledge of God, and are missed guided . This is why God made us his people to fight back and protect our child, the miracles, the blessing, and the promises. God made us to be loud and powerful so let fight back and be souls winners in this new generation!

  41. What will you do when the judge is dead?

19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

People buck against leadership but then they act a fool without it. This is something set up by God to help us. You cannot learn to be a good leader by being a wild ass. So if you ever want to step into a position to lease you must know how to act when the judge is dead. What happens to people when the Pastor is out of town? What happens to people when there’s no one to keep them accountable? This mess doesn’t impress God one bit. Remember he sees all.

  42. 14 In his anger against Israel the Lord gave them into the hands of raiders who plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, whom they were no longer able to resist.
15 Whenever Israel went out to fight, the hand of the Lord was against them to defeat them, just as he had sworn to them. They were in great distress.
16 Then the Lord raised up judges, who saved them out of the hands of these raiders.

The Lord our God has given us our pastor to show us the right way, to demonstrate and remind us of the right path. To be able to follow what our God has commanded us to do, our pastor has a purpose he is there to show us and lead us in the right path but, it’s not only his job, but it’s our job to seek His word each and every day.

  43. 15 Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord had said, and as the Lord had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

Their punishment was, that the Canaanites were spared, and so they were beaten with their own rod. Men cherish and indulge their corrupt appetites and passions; therefore God justly leaves them to themselves, under the power of their sins, which will be our ruin. God has told us how deceitful and desperately wicked our heart is, but we are not willing to believe it, until we fall into temptation, then we find it is true by the sad experience. We need to examine our heart to see how our heart is. We need to continue to pray without ceasing, that we may be rooted and grounded in His word, and that Christ may dwell in our hearts. Let us declare war against every sin, and follow after holiness all our days. Amen

  44. And when the Lord raised them up judges, then the Lord was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the Lord because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them. And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.
    Judges 2:18‭-‬19 KJV
    https://bible.com/bible/1/jdg.2.18-19.KJV

You may think that you do not need leadership in your life and that you can do this walk on your own, but this proves the very opposite. The minute the man of God or God established leader was gone the people went after the wrong paths provoking the Lord to anger. You were not created to be a lone ranger and do things on your own. But you were created to be part of a body. And every body has a bead. So it is so important to pray for your leadership especially the head that he may direct you with all diligence in the things of God.

  45. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

Something got lost through the generation… It said that they knew not the Lord. That they had no idea what he had done for Israel. Well what happened?? 🤔 where did the word go? This is where we come into play because the same thing is happening today. A generation is coming up and they have no idea who Jesus is. Or what he has done or what he is capable of doing or what even that he’s coming back. Its up to us to spread the word. Lead this new generation to truth.

  46. 11 The Israelites did evil in the Lord’s sight and served the images of Baal. 12 They abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They went after other gods, worshiping the gods of the people around them. And they angered the Lord.

Whatever you May be feeling or going through, it’s never worth abandoning the Lord. Jesus is bigger and better than anything and everything that we can imagine. He is the reason why we even breathing right now. Don’t let your mind get distracted and loose focus on what truly matters!!! He should be of everything!!!!

  47. “And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭KJV

It’s a dangerous place to be when an entire generation does not know God or His works. The world will get worse, but we as believers have to instill the word of God in the next generation, making sure they are equipped to stand on His word alone. I thank God for the pertinence of our youth and young adult ministries at POFW. I pray that He continues to shape and mold leaders for tomorrow’s youth that are unashamed to worship and serve the one true living God.

  48. I did this to test Israel—to see whether or not they would follow the ways of the Lord as their ancestors did.” That is why the Lord left those nations in place. He did not quickly drive them out or allow Joshua to conquer them all.
    Judges 2:22‭-‬23 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/jdg.2.22-23.NLT

God will use situations to test our willingness to obey and our faithfulness.

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
    James 1:2‭-‬4 NLT
    https://bible.com/bible/116/jas.1.2-4.NLT

  49. 10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

My biggest fear for the church in essence is in this verse, “. . . there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, . . “. A whole generation not knowing God, not one of them having a relationship with Him. Also, “. . . nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.” Not one of them knowing His power, His strength, and His abilities. That was a sad day then and would be a sad day for a generation today as well.

And because they did not have that relationship and the knowledge or the Almighty they reverted and did evil in His sight!! They did evil in the Promise land that had been given to them. After in the previous chapter their parents and elders and the generation before them committed to serving only the Lord!. Which led to provoking God to anger.

    20 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;
23 Therefore the Lord left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.

I pray that we never see this day in our own assembly, but rather we teach our children and raise them properly and make them known to His great doings and His great works. I pray we teach them to have a relationship with Him and follow His commandments. It is our job as parents, teachers, and leaders to be sure that this is not something that happens to the generation coming up.

  50. “So the LORD burned with anger against Israel. He said, “Because these people have violated my covenant, which I made with their ancestors, and have ignored my commands, I will no longer drive out the nations that Joshua left unconquered when he died. I did this to test Israel—to see whether or not they would follow the ways of the LORD as their ancestors did.” That is why the LORD left those nations in place. He did not quickly drive them out or allow Joshua to conquer them all.”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭2:20-23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Lord, through our testing times continue to lead and guide us. That we would hear every word and even if you whisper it to us. Lord you are everlasting. Your reign will never end. Be the center of our lives and the center of our church.

  51. 17Yet Israel did not listen to the judges but prostituted themselves by worshiping other gods. How quickly they turned away from the path of their ancestors, who had walked in obedience to the LORD’s commands.

How quickly and easily can you be influenced by others, materialistic items, or idols? If you are not deep rooted in the Word of God, it will come quickly. Stay in the Word, and you’ll be able to resist the worldly things.

  52. “And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭2:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When they followed other gods and sought after other things it made God angry. It still makes God angry when we put things in front of him.

  53. “The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim and said to the Israelites, “I brought you out of Egypt into this land that I swore to give your ancestors, and I said I would never break my covenant with you.”
    ‭‭Judges‬ ‭2:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The words, “I will never break My covenant with you” remind us that even though Israel never fully lived up to their part of the covenant, God promised that He would never forsake His part of the covenant.
God requires our partnership with Him in the process of Christian growth. Our partnership is important to God because it shows that our heart is where His heart is, that we are truly growing close to God.

  54. I’m thankful for the elderly and The testimony that they have..

    Judges 2:7 KJV
[7] And the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the Lord , that he did for Israel.

    Judges 2:20 KJV
    [20] And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;

Jesus…… I’m thankful for New Testament
I know the New Testament is not a get out of jail free card, BUT I’m thankful for New Testament
